Hi Hi, I have two OASE live water pumps for my Koi pond. Since I moved in the house with this lovely Koi pond, the pumps have been working fine. Till last week I found the water level has dropped dramatically in last couple of days and then found out one of pumps are leaking water out of the blue handle areas. Any idea how to fix this leaking? Is that because of the rubber band installed in the blue / silver handles?? Many thanks in advance!
After two years (or a bit more or less) dirt that can not be completely flushed away tends to accumulate and the integrity of the filters is reduced so yes at some point you replace the filitration medium, this is normal
I had fish I put from my aquarium into my pond and had them in pond for years and saw the heron bird and looked and all my fish were gone . I’m gonna get rid of the pond freak that ... or if I can see how to stop them I keep it but made me sad 😞 even had a black one that wasn’t visible for over ten years so that one is gone now too so I’m upset grr 😖 I still see the bird come sometimes even when the fish are gone and have the dogs out grrr the pond had plenty of place to hide but with a bird like that don’t know if possible and they were used to human contact and even went to the dogs so it was a death sentence more or less . It’s a meter and a half deep so it had space and plants so yeah
Decoys (plastic herons, crocodiles, whatever) don't work on blue herons. Even if you move them around all the time. Those birds are way too smart. If you're using a net, make sure it's far enough from the water in all directions - heron wont be able to eat your fish but it might still stab them through the net if it's not high/far enough.
Yes, bought fake birds, they look fantastic, did not work at all. Waiting on solar water jet motion detector, hoping that will work. Going to put small stakes in the pond plant tubs so it cannot land. Running out of ideas
@@Rundle92 they usually dont land on water. They land right next to it and then walk into the water. I ended up building a big net enclosure around the whole pond… ugly but the bird finally stopped pestering the fish. Depending on the size of your pond you might need several of those sprinklers. Hopefully they do the job! Good luck!
what are your thoughts on installing shade sails above the pond to keep the herons out (the idea being that if they can't see the pond then they will not come down for a closer look)?
kymbo72 that sounds like a good idea. The only thought I would have is to make sure they are orientated in such a way as to ensure that sunlight still penetrates the pond for the fish and plants
yes true. i was also hoping to get one where the rain can still get through, but i am not sure if that exists or not. thanks for that and I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
