We visited this museum in 2019. Unfortunately, Samantha’s stuff wasn’t in exhibition at this time, but we saw her statue and drove by the house, where she lived.
Thank you for showing us how your museum interacted with CBS Sunday Morning. This is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look. I'm inspired to know more about Samantha Smith now. I remember her trip and her tragic death, and I've ordered the new book about her being released in June.
I'm Ben's 6th great grandson. If u look at the photos the darker skinned people look moorish. I'm starting to think Ben was moorish. Some have suggested that Malaga's name may derive from the wreck of Captain Darling's brig which was loaded with timber from Malaga, Spain.Alcazaba of Malaga is the most well preserved example of a Moorish citadel in Spain. It is next to another historical site: the Roman Theater.
Thanks for your video I have not entered a museum in decades, but seeing your specimens reminded me of the museums I would visit with my family when I was a child. A friend & I rescue songbirds when they migrate thru the city, they hit the glass skyscrapers or fall to the cement, most do not survive. A recent youtube video shows us in Newark NJ, the video is named ( Volunteers give migrating birds injured in N.J’s biggest city a second chance ) The Raptor Trust made video named ( Window Strikes in the Business District ) of us picking up injured Warblers
I've recently found out I my self am a Descendant of this Island, I cried when I saw one of the Darlings (my ancestors) was part of the exhumed and put in an unmarked grave.
instead of returning it ...and undoing the injustice....so typical the deceits and mockeries of these puppets their selected officials ....wondering a submarine base ...maybe under too like some other islands have revealed lately ....? corporate governance seems to be surrounded by these connections of oppressions on less than them ways historically...just return the island Maine working for the trusts of the rich ...
Domestid beetles are a disaster. As a fly tyer, I have feathers & fur that are vulnerable. How cold does the freeze have to be in order to kill their eggs? I have a partridge skin that was infested in my fridge’s freezer right now & have added mothballs in hopes of killing the beetles. Is that type of freezer cold enough? I would prefer not to use mothballs if possible.
Thanks for the message! Feel free to contact our Conservator directly teresa.myers@maine.gov She can give you more details on temps and caring for objects like this. Thanks!
I really enjoyed this video. The narrator did an excellent job. I especially liked the ice industry segment. I hope the museum keeps this exhibit as a reminder of Maine's past.
Absolutely love the history and wildlife here in Maine. Thank you for putting this for us here in Maine. Farmington Maine is where I grew up. Been all over, no place like Maine!
