On July 15, 2021, the Friends of the Maine State Museum sponsored an online party as a way of celebrating the museum, our state’s 201st birthday, and other Maine milestones.
Our master of ceremonies, humorist Gary Crocker, led us through a lively one-hour mix of history, laughter, anecdotes, and fascinating facts that showcased highlights of the museum’s collections and featured intriguing stories from museum curators and educators. The entertaining, time-traveling event featured a special signature cocktail and mocktail, created especially for the Friends by Shawn McLaughlin at State Lunch gastropub in Augusta.
We are particularly grateful to Gov. Janet Mills, U.S. Senator Angus King, State Senator Jeffrey Timberlake, and Sheriff Joel Merry for participating and for their heartfelt and witty toasts; to Gay Grant-The Write Way for sponsoring the event; and to all of the Friends members and supporters who joined us to say “cheers” and to bid on exciting auction items!
You may have missed the event, but you can watch a recording of “We’d Like to Propose a Toast!” here.
