Left hand English on the cue ball puts right hand English on the object ball which actually makes it want to rattle worse. Mostly at speed though. Center ball or even a little bit of right hand or inside English. Will let you pocket the ball at a much higher speed.

look close...low left puts a little counter spin on the object ball....that helps it follow the rail.
