I live in a town with a population of about 6000 To go grocery shopping it's a trip into town which is 15-20 minutes... Y'all city folk. 😂 Our biggest attractions are the state parks. Lots of hiking trails and four wheeling, also camping. To go anywhere for something different it's about 4 hour drive
@@ProvinceofPeace I know, we are so spoiled! I think about that every time we mention the traffic in our channels. We try to be as transparent as possible and it's something that bugs us because we are so used to popping in and out of cities nearby pretty quickly that as soon as any traffic hits us we dislike it 😆🤦
@@LifeOnTheEmeraldCoast I was looking for a place north of Florida to check into. And I came across Crestview .. personally I like something more rural. I say 6000 where I'm from but that's the "city" to us. The surrounding areas are ghost towns with populations of less than 500
@@ProvinceofPeace We actually have a bunch of those as well, we don't showcase them off as much because they're not as popular, lol. But referral is what you were looking for, we've got it, and Crestview could be the "city" version out this direction.
We moved to Navarre from NJ 4 years ago- the more local we become, the more we b*tch about the traffic 🤣🤣🤣 talk about 1st world problems- we catch ourselves & laugh- instead of taking 5 minutes to get on the beach, it takes 9 minutes 🤣🤣🤣 “friggin tourists” We LOVE it here!!!
@@LyndaG-gx1xo hahaha, yes! I agree with that sentiment 200%! It's always funny meeting new clients, especially from places like NJ or any place with really traffic. They are always so surprised at how little traffic we actually have. We are just spoiled I think 😆

I live in Crestview and have for a few years, moved from a much larger town. I have lived in towns where I have had to drive 2 hrs. for shopping, so know what it means when driving is required. The beach is about an hour or hour and a half, depends on traffic, time of year. The restaurants here are not 4 star, neither are the prices. Again, I don't mind driving to a good restaurant, the beach, or shopping. The cost of housing, property tax and the peace and quiet is worth the drive. The traffic can be horrific at times, however, due to the federal government owning much of the land in NW Fla highway building is limited. A by pass is being built which will alleviate traffic so some degree. Crestview is quiet, less costly over all and a fairly friendly place to live. Right now I am able to to drive to any place I want to go, but when I can no longer do that, it won't make any difference. I can't speak to quality of education in the public or private schools, my children are adults. Crestview is like any small town in the country, quieter, less hectic, and most of all less expensive. Closer to the beach, higher the costs. I can't say I am of like mind in politics or religion, knowing that, I keep my own counsel. Always keep in mind everything is temporary, even waiting in traffic. Anyhow, life is what you make of it no matter where you are. BTW, I grew up in Destin. I'm happy living in Crestview and got a really great deal for my house, certainly happy with my purchase price and really happy with the property tax.
Lived there for over 10 years so glad I left. Most of the restaurants are quick service. The traffic is terrible. There isn’t much to do. They have a nice park for kids and walking track. Problems is at night the homeless and drug addics wake up and patrol the area. Bowling alley shut down. Skating rink shut down. Dance studio for adults shut down. The movie theater is still up and running. Bars where the police need to be close by are still up and running. Plenty of churches and smaller shopping. There are some places at the river to hang out if you like the smell of urine since there is no bathroom people walk off on the side of the river bank.
Developers destroyed it. Impossible to afford and y’all ran the locals out. I’ll never forget when developers from up north petitioned to close the Spence fishery. I learned to hate developers that day. I was 10. They only want money. Evil people that destroyed the woods.
I've been in Crestucky sine 2020 and enjoy above hwy 90. When you cross 90 going south I call it Hades for a few reasons #1 traffic, #2 Homeless addics jay walking looking to get hit #3 they're no border wall
Lived in Destin for 30 years and hated every minute of it. If you enjoy traffic , mosquitoes, tourists and walking on eggshells every summer because of hirricane season…..this place is for you. If you enjoy waiting 20 minutes to get on 98 just to drive 2 millimeters within 4 hours…this place is for you. If you enjoy waiting 45 to be seated in a restaurant during spring and summer break, you’ll love this town. If you enjoy your outrageous property taxes and homeowners insurance ( if you can find one ) this place is for you. Again,lived in Destin for 3 decades. Sold our home and bought our dream retirement home in Henderson Nevada 2019. Nice quiet place close to the mountains. Have a huge pool and no mosquitoes or obnoxious tourists. We can chill up here in Black Mountain or drive 20 minutes west to Las Vegas . Btw….we have an acre lot and a 2000 sq home . Our property tax is 600 …A YEAR 💋
@@psychomomxs4529 Really? I don't think you're alone in that, I live here for probably 8 to 10 years before I heard about it, it wasn't until it became a real estate agent and started doing these videos. But in all fairness, prior to that I was military and I didn't get up to Crestview very often
Terrible traffic, gas is more expensive than the south end of the county, milk is more expensive (as of 7/19/24) than south end and actually twice as expensive than in Pensacola! And Casbah Coffee Co. closed, bummer!
@@ejo6371 This is interesting, I figured gas would be more expensive, that makes sense. But I did not think about milk... I don't know why I find that so interesting but I do. And yes, Casbah Coffee, I only swing through there one time but it was pretty good, and I'm not generally that big into coffee I'm pretty basic when it comes to my coffee.
"Diverse community" ? In what way? Gov DeSantis seems to me passing laws as fast as he can to ensure that is not the case. River tubing. Cool I didn't know that. Good point on new dev where construction noise might be an ongoing issue for a short time. Paying upfront for upgrades if you then cancel. Great point - have not heard that before. Also VA hidden fees. Thanks for that heads up. And no Gutters??????? Great summary.
@@amybeard2054 Yes, amen to this! When we show new construction neighborhoods we try to drive in the center of the road when able (less nails) and we never park in the driveway and advise our clients the same. I have lost many tires in this line of work 🤦

You failed to mention the hwy 85 rolling parking lot that people will get stuck in if they work outside of crestview. The traffic situation currently in crestview is HORRIBLE! The lack of planning ahead has hurt locals and those moving here. If you are planning to move to Crestview and have appts or will be working in Ft Walton Bch, Niceville, or Destin leave at the very least an hour or more before your appt or work time. Good luck!

We did not fail to mention hwy 85, it just was not part of the conversation as this was a "pros" video about Crestview. It wouldn't make sense to tell all the cons about Crestview for the viewers that are looking for the pros only. We have discussed Crestview traffic on well over 25+ videos on the channel, we are VERY transparent in the traffic issues in Crestview as well as traffic issues along the rest of the Emerald Coast.

Truth be told...if you have the coins to afford a home (house or townhouse) in Ft. Walton, which includes the insurance, property taxes, and utilities then go with the Ft. Walton area. However, you're going to pay for anything updated or modern and it may not be in an updated subdivision. In addition, you won't get the square footage for what you pay. The biggest pro is the location and it is accessible to everywhere! The majority of people moving to the area are in the military or they are military civilians working at one of the 3 bases here. You will get more for your money in a home in Crestview, but the city isn't suitable for people looking for entertainment or nightlife (honestly it's not much in FWB). If you're moving to the area with a family, then Crestview is a better choice. Even though Crestview is a modern day Mayberry, the area is growing and more people are moving up this way due to the cost of living differential. Overall, I chose Crestview because I got more house for the money and the neighborhood we chose gave my wife a sense of safety. Even though the beach is about a 40 minute + drive, it's good to come back home to a quiet area. The beach is nice, but the cost of living in that area don't add up when there are limited entertainment or nightlife for us grown folks. Mongo, made some good points, but when we were living in FWB, the beach was the only thing going in the area, but we could get to Navarre, Niceville, and Destin in a short time. The coastal restaurants were okay, but we went to more spots in Destin that FWB. The beach is still much closer from when we'd visit from Huntsville, so the drive ain't bad in my opinion. Crestview got the win (in my opinion) because the current cost of living is much more feasible than FWB.
