I make things from all kinds of materials. The channel is pretty organic, I shoot things I like, and find interesting. Use caution with your tools, this channel is for entertainment, and inspiration. Thanks for tuning in!
Thanks, I thought it's good to let the copper melt the solder not the iron, thus better insuring it's drawn into to seam. While it may be temporarily sealed, once you get a little movement the seam could break, correct?
How do you feel when wearing the helmet, I recently made a copper helmet and it had a noticeable effect on my ears and eyes and over all feel g around my face like I’m in a bubble… How does it effect you?
Looks like trash... the welds are hideous; not neat at all and ive never witnessed atrocities such as pounding down flat seams with a framing hammer... terrible craftsmanship.. do better
Love that you kept it simple and rustic looking! I have about 200 pallets but sadly 99.9 of them are new/newer and dont have that look to them yet but planned on making something like this as soon as the weather gets above or even freezing.
I have never seen a metal roof work where so much solder is used, this is the 2nd time I see this done on RU-vid in the US. Interesting. That´s very interesting, this seems to be US specific, I have never seen that before. Learned something new today =)
Copper is good for 100 years. We use 0,8mm thick Titanium - Zinc alloy which holds up (according to investigations) to 75 years. Metal roofs are pretty awesome, if they were not so expensive.
I'm sorry to say this BUT the fabrication is great but the soldering is TERRIBLE. Sloppy and obviously cold. And it just plain looks awful, lumpy, uneven and blocthcy.
Ugly, ugly, ugly. The flashing against wall will leak. Should be using flat seam cleats. Yes I am a union Sheetmetal foreman, I have taught people in less than one day to solder with a real copper iron, whose work blows this trash away. Sorry, but have to call out work this bad. I have to tell new hires with 25+ yr.s in the trade who think this kind of stuff will fly on my job to find another career, I am psychotic when I comes to this trades reputation and the quality of our work. Nothing personal, good day.
You are awesome! Im a female and to me you are a true representation of a MAN! Love the self awareness and insight your brain is very 👌👌 keep up the rad growing journey 💃

Nice work. I do this stuff also. I have a Pexto double seamer and a circle shear. The bottom piece of copper has to be cut almost exact are it won't work, along with turning a burr on the can portion, tight tolerances only. Thanks for posting.
Man I love Onion domes. They're just so genuinely cool, especially the Russian Orthodox ones. If I had my very own tiny house one day which are those deluxe lofted cabins, I'm gonna have a Onion dome made to go on the top of the roof. This video is pretty dang informative & helpful.
That's not the way to put on copper, it's a mess. You put the wall flashing on first, and you put nails Through the copper, both hack mistakes. Then you're Absolutely relying on the solder to cover the seams, but its sloppy. Do better.
