4 years later this song still hits - the meaning has morphed in the time since, but that's what great music can do. Thanks Troy and all who were part of this, you're amazing.
Just once i would like Neil to be honest and address the shit he pulled around the game release timeframe. Abusing the YT copyright system for people talking about the leaks, lying to us in the trailer about plot details, stealing a song from Lotte Kessner and claiming they didnt know, calling reviewers because he got salty over average review scores. But he is too far up his own ass to expect any honestly from him. The golden globes moment was catharsis for me in a way
He has adressed the "lying in trailers" part in case you don't know. He admitted regretting it and feeling bad in hindsight even though his "intentions" were good. (It's from the commentary from the remastered version of Part 2)
Lol what a failure in writing. Game makes you so detached from all the gore porn and lack of consistency you don’t even even care anymore, got a refund and just watched it on RU-vid and glad I did. What a waste, most disappointing sequel ever released. Everyone except the writers did a 10/10 job, if only there was motivation through a fantastic story with hints if hope and a constant feeling of progression to keep me playing over and over. Neil if you’re reading this Naughty dog rejected your terrible revenge story years ago, it was a shit story then and a shit story now.
I hope they don't live where it has flooded ,in Brooklyn.😲😞Did he talk about being totally excited about skipping rope as fast as a boxer ,because he saw the Creed film??:-O ??😀Modern boxing ropes make a cool great sound.Producers don't just give people who work on musicals and other theater plays the money to open???😲
This is a great interview. I love American Idiot and Hadestown.😲🙂😞😀What does the wreck Troy was in have to do with Broadway or the radio??😲I love the whole interview. Alex is very kind talented very intelligent and friendly. If only I could /will get to meet Alex Boniello.🙂😞
Baker, I am big fan of yours from india, please let us know if you will be back on last of us part 3 or you have any upcoming new project? Diying to see you in a lead role.
I've been obsessing about Part 2 ever since finishing it 5 days ago. I keep playing in my mind the psychology of the decisions of the characters. I think Neil Druckman said in some interview how Joel's ghost is haunting over this game's characters. Large part of Ellie's motivation is her anger at herself for making Joel suffer by cutting him off for nearly 2 years. Abby took her revenge on this 'monster' Joel, but all she killed was an old man. And that act of vengeance did nothing to her. She still kept on suffering and seeing her dead father in her dreams. Only when finally doing something good and selfless does she start to heal. Like Abby, Ellie can't let her father figure's killer go and she goes back to find her even at the cost of all her relationships. When she finds Abby tortured and on the verge of death, yet still taking care of Lev, she can recognise the relationship as very similar to the relationship between her and Joel. Which makes her doubt the justification of killing Abby (Lev's sole provider), but she still suffers too much to let it go and arguably turns villainous for a moment when she threatens Lev's life to get Abby to fight her. At this point Abby has given up on revenge (despite Ellie and Tommy having killed her friends). This time Ellie is at a physical advantage due to Abby's state. When she is about to kill Abby, Ellie again gets a flashback of Joel. But this time it's something different. She recalls that she DID in a messy way, let Joel back in on that last night at Joel's porch. Joel died knowing she loves him. And maybe that's enough. So, killing Abby. Would she really make Lev suffer the same way she had suffered? For what purpose? She also realized what Abby realized right after killing Joel. That it would mean nothing to her. All she would have done is destroy Lev's life, and maybe one day he would come after her to enact revenge. And would JJ then do the same? When would the cycle of violence end?
Troy needs to read this quote: "Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to the unhealthy state of things." --WINSTON CHURCHILL.
I've seen a lot of interviews with Troy regarding THAT scene in the intro of TLOU, but I have to say - the thing that really gets me every time with that scene are the little squeals Nico Parker lets out as she's dying. That and Gustavo's soundtrack coming in just kills me every time. Troy's performance absolutely enhances it all further - but damn, that scene is always so tough to watch. Great video Troy - this was really helpful!
The Greatest of all Time. The Last of Us compares well with Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment or the Brothers Karamazov, there is that much attention to detail and character development.
Just finished the game and I have no words. Well actually I have: thank you for this masterpiece. I love how you all love it, how you talk about it, how smart it is. I wish you all the best. Im so sorry for this threats but I guess that’s what humanity does. I can be pretty shitty and that’s also what this game is about. Again thank you and good luck!
It’s odd I love the series, the actors and directors. I did not love how 2 went, but fir the story told it was very much real. Real in a sense that real life doesn’t always track. I have seen dozens of stories I rather would of seen played out and wished it did, but this said fuck you here is the journey and you might not like it. I do hope a pt3 goes back to a smaller scope I think 2 was a giant sequel and worked well but I think it works better as a smaller story. I hope we see Ellie again, we see Joel in that 20 year mark missing, we find a story that can intertwine the two and give us a fitting end to Ellie. A callback to 1, where Ellie and her immunity becomes the focus again OR a person who Ellie now has to protect can be immune…I just feel like we need this back to a Joel Ellie story and I think they have a way to do so
