I will create content based on more than 40 years as a police firearms instructor and big game hunter. My first offerings will cover the "Building a Better Gunfighter" book I wrote to document a firearms training program that changed a state police agency's hit rate, when shooting bad guys, from 11 percent to 62 percent. Hunting, fishing and general gun information will be my hallmarks.
the odds are highly against your needing to hit better thaan 10" at 5m and highly in favor of your needin a reliable, sub-1.0 second cce draw and hit on that 10" mark at 10ft. a two handed, eye level firing stance will suffice for this and its quiet easy to attain, if you start "hand in pocket". with an enlarged pants pocket and a velcroed-in front pants pocket holster, made of kydex. There is zero drag on the gun with such a holster material. Once you start the gun moving, it comes out as if it were on springs!
marksmanship means nothing until you can get the gun pointed at your attacker. Most attacks are not made with guns, So normally you dont have to fire at all. Misses and warning shots have changed a LOT of minds, very suddenly So have poor hits, even with feeble loads. Lots of people get the crap beaten out of them (even uniformed cops) in SPITE of the fact that they were carrying a gun.; Just ask George Zimmerman and 1000s of others., Speed of presentation meaans far more than the ability to group better than 10" at 10m. Very rarely does a civilian HAVE to fire beyond 5m, and a hit anywhere on the man is normally sufficient. I teach mostly with airsoft, so that there's no range fees, no ear protection making communication difficult, no travel expenses, no danger of injury, no fear of same, no flinching from noise Recoil and blast mean nothing for the first shot and the first shot by FAR is the most important. If your first shot does not settle the opponents hash, VERY soon LUCK is going to be the main determinant of the outcome If you ca'nt yet do a given drill with airsoft even 22 ammo is a waste of time and money If you can't do it with a 22, there's no way that you can do it with a 9mm.. Even tho an airsoft setup costs you $200 it pays for itself in saved travel time, expenses, range fees and 25c per shot 9mm ammo, in one weekend in your backyard. In another weaken it will have paid for the 22lr understudy or conversion unit. The airsoft and the 22 unit will pay for the bullet casting and reloading gear in a few months, which will save you 10x per shot on 9mm for the rest of your life and twice that much for the .45 or other calibers. That savings will buy other guns, accessories, etc. Casting bullets can be a $100 per week sideline if you wish, That money will let you go to some top training classes
"Fighting load"? WTF? It's never about a super whoop-ass loading, friend. It's ALWAYS about how many rounds you have, period. I learned that lesson in the jungle back in the 60's. More is better no matter what ammo you're packing.
IF a 22 was just as reliable about always functioning, I'd regard it as just as "effective' as factory 380 ammo because thats what has proven to be the case with live animal testing. You can get a controlable, 6" long,16 oz 9mm that hits twice as hard as any factory 380. On live animal tests, the Liberty Arms/50 gr solid copper 9mm hp,, 2000 fps from a 3" barrel, is a very solid performer. 450 ft lbs of power, no over-penetration of the torso, AP, and no more recoil than a hot 380. So you have to have your pants pockets enlarged by 1/2" or so in order to let you draw it as swiftly as possible, so what? sell a toy gun and use the money to help you be truly capable. If you're going to lug around a belt-gun, chamber it in 10mm , 45 Super or .460 Rowland and get 700 ft lbs of power, more and larger fragments, and deeper penetration (by a bigger, heavier base-segment of the bullet). 0
I'm not afraid of my car being taken. I worry about my wife of daughters being taken. We have some ruthless people in our country now. I'm going to get your book.
IF somebody made a 100 gr jhp for the .40 cal and drove it 1500 fps in a 4" barrel, it would be an excellent combo. very little more recoil than plus p 9mm,, but much more probability of expansion and it would have 500 ft lbs of swat, which animal tests proves is about what you need to get 95% stopping probability with single chest hit., Large, strong men can use the 10mm, 135 gr load at the same speed, but that's too much recoil for a lot of people, including almost all women. Factory loads in the .40 are too heavy a bullet, at too low a speed, like the .45 and the 9mm.
Others that could be mentioned, the SKS, semi auto that takes 7.62x39 and 10rd magazine usually and fixed to the gun, these are still very available. Id also mention the ruger pc-9 takedown 9mm, i think this would be a great option for states that have ar bans etc, these are legal in CA, idk about IL or NY etc.
From my observation; it is true that the average person or family does not have enough money to buy TOO Much ammunition. With the cost's of things these days its hard to divert funds to the probable not the immediate in need. However I do think that there is a potential to have too much. 1, what would be your life expectancy in fight after fight. to think One will survive 25000 + rounds I think is Naïve, the question is then whom are you arming?I once Knew a Guy that owned a firearms business and had 1.5+ million rounds of 7.62x39 yes million. when he was murdered the US government confected all of it as evidence ( no way! who would of thought?). Keep it real people.
On the other hand, if you follow gun/ammo auction sites, you’ll find numerous examples of estate sales following the death of someone who followed these kind of recommendations, only to die without the SHTF scenario occurring. Never mind that these kind of decisions might mean foregoing things like life insurance or other realistic expenses of a normal, responsible (especially if you have dependents) life. Also consider, of course, who profits from these kind of paranoia inducing, fear mongering scenarios. That would be the gun/ammo industry & its main shill, the NRA & the Republican politicians in its pocket. The danger of living an isolated, fear-based life & dying a poor death is greater than the probability of a SHTF scenario.
Hey Mr. Fairburn, I hope this message reaches you. I just ran across your channel on RU-vid by chance. I’ve just subscribed & liked your latest video, “How much ammo? I’m a retired senior & have always been a hunter & fisherman, mostly fresh water from the Sportsman’s Paradise of Louisiana. Pretty much been an NRA member most of my life . I did always wonder how Mr. Pierre’ made so much money. I was always just a little guy , supporting my second amendment rights but as of the last few years I’m this economy finding it hard to send my contribution to a Millionaire & wondering what does the NRA actually do for me ? Yeah , they send me this cheap ball cap made in China to renew. But what does my money really do for me ? I found your video very informative & interesting & provided many good examples of quality, quantity, makers , loads & common sense dialogue. I also think it is high time we as Americans really take a good look at who we put in these board positions at a local , state & Federal level that really have our backs & concerns from a grass roots level . The common man or woman in a common community across America. Should I renew my membership to the NRA? Is it wrong to ask a question like this? It’s not about the money, but it would help with a tank of fuel in my truck or supplement my hunting excursions. I just want to enjoy the great outdoors & supplement my food for my family. I’m not in it to go to a fight, sure self defense thoughts cross my mind & should need be protecting my family. Anyway, just rambling but Thank you for your support & I enjoyed your video. I will follow more of your content. Comments
Thanks for watching. I am a Life/Benefactor member, so no annual cost (though lots of $$ to buy in to this level). Those of you who are annual members, I UNDERSTAND your reluctance to feed LaPiere's ridiculous spending habits and obvious siphoning of funds to his personal accounts. I believe his banishment and order to repay 4.4 million shows the organization has made a turn towards sensibility but many more members of the Board of Directors, who allowed his actions, need to go. Give the NRA a year or two and see if the ship can be righted.
Depends on the situation. What do you have that someone wants to steal? How many are in a gang that has weapons and wants what you have? Can you fight off twenty or more very motivated gang members, or hungry neighbors? Best bet is to stay gray, stay under the radar and don't trust anyone, they will want what you have.
Idk an old 30-30 Lever is one oprion in less free states shooting a 170 grain brick into a human target, is a lot of persuasion to stop pursuit of you lol
Really in all honesty anything over about 200 rounds per person is pretty much a waist. Reason being is being in a firefight or multiple firefights your chances of dieing goes up and up and up. You are better off getting as physically fit as possible and having multiple plans of what to do in situations. Because the more you shoot the more attention you get. Be light and fast. Being 600 lbs with 10000 rounds of ammo isnt going to last long. Also if you are going into combat you arent bringing 1000 rounds with you. Now this number of 200 does not include training ammo.
I've been Prepping for decades. I've been using new 50cal metal ammo cans to store sugar, instant milk, potato flakes, and some other foods. And of course I use them to store ammo in. I believe patriots should have a minimum of 500 rounds for their sidearm, minimum 1,000 rounds for primary rifle (more would be better), minimum 500 rounds for long range rifle, 5,000 rounds minimum 22lr ammo, and minimum 500 rounds shotgun ammo split between slugs, bird shot and buckshot. Also 21 full size magazines for each rifle minimum and 12 full size magazines for each pistol minimum.
My father bought a new H&R single barrel 12 gauge when he was 12 years old for $5. He used only number 5 shot for everything. My brother is using that old shotgun today.
