@@SewandCraftStep-by-Step thank you. I do live in South Africa. At the moment i still use my moms Elna Supermatic... bought in 1974. It really is an old faithful..that works perfectly .. I have to make my mind up whether i want a new machine or do i need a new machine. But thank you for your help.
@@pamclarke6785 Hi Pam, I completely understand. I owned the same machine as you currently have many years ago.😀 They work perfectly if you are working on woven fabric - especially natural woven fabric, like calico, denim, cotton linen etc. So, if that is what you work on mostly, then it is perfect for you. However, if you want to work on the latest stretch and even synthetic blends of fabric, then the more modern machines handle those better. To explain why - the older generation machines had 2 points on their feed teeth. Now 2 points are perfect for natural woven fabrics. However when it comes to the more modern fabric (synthetic and stretch) the 2 points "latch" onto the fabric and then it does not feed through as evenly or smoothly. It almost feels as if the fabric is being held back in a sense. They also do not have auto tension - so tensions must be adjusted to suit individual fabric. With the new generation Brother machine it has 7 points on it's feed teeth - so the finest sheerest and even stretchiest fabric is fed through easily - as is denim and upholstery fabric. It also has auto-tension, so it will adjust tension to suit the fabric - you don't have to do that. Then there is the automatic needle threader, built in automatic cutter, lovely bright LED light (no more globes that blow), one step perfect buttonhole and just so much more. (Too much to mention here - so I have mentioned all of the super important features) I know that some of this might be intimidating - so I supply my Step-by-Step video lessons that are arranged in a logical sequence, so that customers get all of the information to start using their machines with confidence and not by trial and error. I also show all of the features of the machine - so that all features can be used, to make sewing so much more enjoyable! I hope this is helpful. Hi, Thanks for the message. The thread cutter sensor is only available on the Brother Embroidery machines, and because your model is a sewing machine only, it won't have the sensor to warn you when the bobbin is almost empty. I hope this is helpful. Kind Regards, Sherine Haines

I was going nuts after my brand new to me (but previously used) brother embroidery machine kept birdnesting every single time I tried to embroider. I hadn’t done one embroidery successfully so I was defeated. After countless videos and trying to adjust the top thread tension, adding more stabilizer, taking away stabilizer, and generally loosing my mind, this video finally resolved my issue! I just needed to clean out all the dust underneath the bobbin holder. If only I had come here in the first place. Thank you!!! You’ve saved my sanity!

Hi, Thanks for the reply...yes it is tempting to take it off, and for the machines with no sensors it is not really an issue. However, for machines with sensors, it can be tricky to put it back if you are not careful. I have had many a customer have a problem afterwards, resulting in a trip to the technician to put it back properly.😅 This is why I advise to leave it alone.😊 Kind Regards, Sherine

The only print scan and cut machines start at like $6,000.00. I just don’t understand why it’s so complicated! It’s ok. Just driving myself crazy! I’ll have to get a printer for now.
Hi Frances, It is called a Type C male to USB female ADAPTER However, you need to check your phone connection to make sure it is a type C. If you go to a computer shop and ask for this type of adapter and show them your phone, they will know what you need. I hope this is helpful. Hi Jasmine, Yes you do need to match the needle to the fabric. With Faux leather you can use a Universal needle if it is firm faux leather - but I woud use a Microtex needle for a soft Faux Leather. With genuine leather, you need a Leather needle, as it has a blade that slits the fabric for easy needle penetration - and hence NO SKIPPED stitches. Use this needle only on genuine leather - as it will cut and damage other fabric. The Auto tension only detects the thickness of the fabric and adjusts tension for that - but the needle must definitely be matched to the fabric. Hi Sherri, Depending on where you live - it may have a different name. I am in South Africa - and I get mine from a wholesaler Berzacks. If you go to any shop that sells Embroidery machines - particularly Industrial Embroidery machines - they generally always sell it. Kind Regards, Sherine Haines
It's weird because on my bobbin case on my brother, the screws are in opposite positions. The one on the right is painted. It's a brand new case and tension is way too tight.
Hi Steve, Please check that it is in fact a genuine Brother bobbin case, and not a generic one. Genuine ones always look like the one in my video. I just found this!!! Thank you so much!! My tension is back how it should be and my auto cut function now works again 👌 In my machine- I had the green stuff on the flathead screw 🤷♀️ so I picked it off and tightened it (as much as that scared me). Thank you again

I was winding my bobbin and the cotton got stuck under the winder. This is my second time using this machine...how do I remove the cotton underneath the winder😢 I'm using brother nv880e
Hi, Thanks for the comment. If the thread is winding under the bobbin - then it means the bobbin has not been put onto the winder correctly. There is a slot in the bobbin that must go over the spring on the bobbin winder. Hello I just saw you’re video and I went and am buying a desk top because I have a brother SE725 which says I need a pc to transfer embroidery patterns , I’m very new to this but have not known how I could use my iPhone or my iPad tablet 8th gen. I would like to find an adapter to be able to do this so I can return this computer that I will probably never use. Please help. Thank you
Hi, As far as I am aware, you do need a PC to use the Brother Design Database transfer program. I do not own any of your devices you mention - so I am not able to test it. But try to download the app onto them following the instructions that they show for how to access the design database transfer program for the PC, from this link. support.brother.com/g/s/hf/pcapp_info/ddt/en/index.html?prod=WLAN&media=i_txt If it won't work - then it does mean you can only use the PC. Could I create my design in Canva, save it as an SVG file, export it to Workspace then just cut it if I was happy with everything or do I need to trace first before cutting? I'm much more familiar with Canva and it would literally take me 15min to create my designs - playing with Canvas Workspace takes me ages and I can't get anywhere near the type of design I'm after..

Hi, Thanks for the question. You can select the whole word that you have created - then a blue block will appear around it. 1. From there, if you want it re-sized in proportion you can go to the box above your designs and adjust the height and width in proportion if the PROPORTION box has a check mark in it. If you remove the checkmark from the box, then you can adjust either the height only or the width only. 2. Or...after it is selected you can drag the corners of the box to re-size. You can also hold in the shift button while you do this to keep the design centred. Hi, You need to put the Software Update file that you download from the brother website as per the video onto the USB stick - the stick goes into the machine and you have to follow the instructions in the video before powering your machine on. Hi, Your comment and observation is definitely not correct. None of mine - or customers who have used it (and there are many ) - have had any bent out of shape permanently caps. They are all perfect after embroidery. We do embroider on quality caps that retain their shape though.😀
Glamourgirl I just found out that you can remove the whole bobbin case. I'm self taught too. I've been self taught sewing sewing g for 40 years. Only straight stitches. I have brother sewing machine and couldn't understand how to use all the amazing stitches even when I used the brother manual that came with my machine. Most of the instructions in it are hard to understand and most of the illustrations aren't clear either. At least not for me. My husband looked at the manual too and he couldn't understand them either. We also tried to get the needle threader to thread using the manual and trying to just practice over and over. It was definitely hard to see the illustrations for it .
Hi, Yes I can. Looking at the front of the machine the length (with the embroidery unit on) it is 69,5cm The width is 41,5 cm, but you need to allow extra space on your workspace because the embroidery arm needs to be able to move freely.
