It's been about 2 years, pretty strong. After lots of wash after car work, water washing is enough to maintain its condition. No crack or any broken section. Just paint itself I didn't put clear on it, so recommend for normal user. But You got to aware, prep job is most important key to stick paint on surface well, right?
Wow.. phenomenal job. Are those omix or crown replacement fenders? I noticed the replacements have little divots feom all the welds inside that show on the outside. Did you fill those somehow or use a primer that helps fill them? Rebuilding a 79 cj7. Far from paint at this point but good to see it's possible to do it at home. Did you paint the tub as well? If so, was it an omix tub?
Its my neighbor's CJ7, I don't have much info you want, sorry for that, but paint section which I do for him, inside of fender, I mean that part will be engine room need another layer of paint, black base primer only is so weak, easy to scratch. I may paint other part of body, hope it will be captured and publish video here. Thank you.
Rust-Oleum 340558 Automotive Spray Paint for base coat, you got a black base before spray this paint. And urethan automotive clear coat, pretty strong finish, Thank you for watching, I hope it can be help
First you shouldn’t paint over chrome it will come right off only powder coating will have a lasting finish especially when using in salt water you could use acid to remove the chrome and paint it but in my experience from doing this it will last about 2 trips out They do have a nice plating kit you can convert chrome to nickel to gold but the kit is 300 dollars so is it really worth it ? I think it came out nice and looks great but I think a original penn reel cleaned up with new drag washers new ceramic bearings and maybe a custom handle would be a better option
Wow, it turned out so well, that deep blue is gorgeous. I was concerned seeing that orange peel after clear coat, but damn...sanding and compounding made it shine like crazy! Nice work!
