I started leading worship in 1982, a year after becoming a Christian. Then, my parents and I began attending John Wimbers church in Anaheim California. They were on the leadership team and I was mentored to lead worship for kinships and the young adults. In those early days, my parents and I, along with many others, were drawn to that church for one big reason: God was there. Yes, God is everywhere, but, it was very different back then. The Numinous of God was very tangible and evident. It was as if “Peace” had become a physical substance you could cut with a knife. Experiencing God in such a close and intimate way ruined me for the ordinary. Unfortunately, experiencing His presence to that degree eventually became less frequent. For the next 30 years, I faithfully pursued the same values taught to me by previous Vineyard leaders, hoping to return to the Numinous of God like we once had. Strangely, there was much resistance along the way. I’d like to share that journey with you.
So thankful I found your site! I've been looking for some of these songs for a long time! We were there at the Vineyard back in the 1980's! Miss the honest, heartfelt worship so much!!! I have a question. I have part of a song playing in my head that I can't find anywhere. Maybe you remember it and can tell me the rest of it? The part I remember is "and my desire is that You know, I love You, I worship You, I welcome You here." Does that sound familiar at all? Thanks, Ruth
Can I sense the Spirit? yes indeed and remember the early 70's to mid '80s of such worship. Words flood my mind and cannot type them in here. LORD please get me back to this level and guide othesr here as well
Thanks so much! I can’t find some of these songs, and some songs sound much better when performed in a worship session compared to a studio. Can anyone tell me where to find the I come to thee On Bended Knee song ?
It just amazes me how so far off the mark churches today are…. especially congregational praise and worship. So empty and void. I love this videos worship! Endless, seamless, flowing of worship. No weird soring keyboard pad or guitar rifts. Just listen to the sweetness of this music.😊
Interesting how Jesus told His followers to remain in Jerusalem - a city many of them did not live in. What was the consequence of that? It meant they tended to stay together for a long period of time. They were, of course, praying as well. I think we see revival whenever people join together in love and unity seeking the Lord - much of what we read from Paul instructing the churches in his letters.
I keep losing this page. I go through cycles, and I really need the strength of worship and healing. Now I as I lose peop!e at a faster place and am homebound. I need to at least fee that folks care for me. I need Jesus with some skin on in my final days.
I bought the All the Earth Shall Worship album at the Denver Vineyard bookstore in 1982 and played it over and over. I still have that album. John Wimber used to visit the Denver Vineyard regularly in the early 1980's and on one occasion he brought Lonnie Frisbee with him which is a time I will never forget. When we would go to So Cal to visit friends and family, we once dropped in on the Anaheim Vineyard on a weekday afternoon. While we were there, a grizzled Colorado mountaineer friend of mine got up on John Wimber's grand piano and started playing away. I doubt John would have minded. When were in SoCal we would also visit Costa Mesa and usually get there late and have to sit in the overflow room. Where did 40 years go?
I love this, found it by accident, moved me to tears, had to listen to it over and over again. I was part of Vineyard in Australia for 10 years. Worship has changed over the years. so sad.
I met Wimber and team in Brighton UK I m french.. A New birth and délivrance from drogue I m coming back in every songs in Time of troubles IT IS leading me to gods Heart And WE need his love and his presence. Do you know a vineyard church in France ? Thank you Anne
May God revive principles of the worship leaders of the Vinyard days. I wasn’t following a Jesus in 84, but I can sense pure worship of the people seeking God with no entertainment value as there seems to be in a lot of church worship services today. Even so, God is merciful and his presence is in many services that have an entertainment slant to worship. After all it’s about the heart of the worshiper and he alone knows our hearts.
This is Great... Hey brother Stark...how can we get in contact... and by the way...what happend to Eddie Espinoza..? .. Where is he.. on this days..? God Bless You
I met my husband Damon in a Vineyard Christian Fellowship! We had 32 years together! I am revisiting this old tape again today! Thank you Steve! I am listening with sadness and joy this Saturday morning. I live in Reno and miss the Vineyard terribly!! Sally
I love this. You are right. The job of a worship leader is to praise the name of the Lord and lead people to the throne. I detest today's "worship". It is all about the people on the stage and all about the people worshipping. When "worship" songs are filled with "I" and "me", it is not worship. Praying about a movement bringing us back to biblical worship.
I cried when I heard this. . . I was a broken teenager who was captivated and healed by worship. We used to drive into Canyon High School in the early days back in 1978, 1.5 hours to get there from Palm Springs. We were healed in those early days just sitting in those worship services, and went on to lead worship over the years, still using some of these songs.
I'm looking for a recording of Eddie Espinosa's I Lift My Hands (Most of All). If anyone knows where to find that I would be deeply grateful for the information, Thanks!
It’s on RU-vid from a recording from 1983 church service. Type in vineyard worship 1983. It’s from a cassette tape. There’s also a studio version on RU-vid but I prefer the worship cassette version.
Thank you so much for making this available. Such a blessing to hear this 30+ minutes of adoration - all about worship and focus on the Lord, not about performance. It's frustrating how hard it is to find most of the early Vineyard songs.... Here's the song list in case no one else has posted it: I Will Call on the Lord The Lord is My Strength and My Song (Exodus XV) Thou O Lord art a Shield About Me (Lifter of My Head) I Come to Thee on Bended Knee (Give me more of Thee) Lord I want to be closer and closer to Thee Make Me a Servant (Make Me Like You) I'm Yours You are the Vine, We are the Branches I'll Say Yes, Yes, Yes I believe in You (Please take all of me) (Spontaneous singing) I Love You Lord Spirit of the Living God Fall Afresh on Me You are here and I behold Your Beauty
I found a man that so reminds me of John Wimber!! God is speaking LOUDLY through this man. His name is Dave. Praying Medic. I have a FULL collection of these tapes!! Lots of John's stuff including personal testimonies even visit from Paul Caine and Bob Jones. Eddie was my worship leader. The Holy Spirit rested on that man POWERFULLY!
@@mycreativepowerhouse i found a ton of live worship tapes my mother had and I am going to try put something together here on RU-vid with them. would that interest you or anyone else?
I had this exact same cassette. My dad went out to see Wimber in the early 80's from the East coast as a Catholic, and said he paid $5 for the recording- we were all changed forever because of John Wimber's teachings and the worship he brought to the world. From that church I was exposed to Paul cain, Bob Jones, John Paul Jackson, Mike Bickel, and am still blessed by them. Not bad for a Catholic boy:)
leftystrat62 so many anointed moments back then. I love the free form worship and I miss it. I'm considering a house church. I've been collecting all the old Vineyard Music to play there. Maybe those of us who were fortunate enough to be there in the formative years of the Vineyard are meant to bring back worship in spirit and truth to these last days.
