Old video of a potential Mobile Medical Facility for Youth With A Mission. This was a working concept model of how a kind of "Land Ship" could work in partnership with a YWAM Ship vessel during an outreach. Staff housing units were actually much longer than depicted in this video and could house 4 staff each. It included a fully equipped surgical hospital built out of multiple 20' long expandable shipping containers, interconnected with inflatable tents. Upon arrival, the entire facility could be deployed and operational in just 3 to 4 hours with strike times of 3 to 4 hours. It also included kitchen, dining, meeting, and office facilities as well as maintenance workshops as well as power, fuel, water and waste treatment. The mobile facility was never built, due in large part to a number of challenges. For instance, American diesel fuel regulations made it very expensive to use the same vehicles in developing nations as well as on American highways, without modifying engine components. Another challenge was taking advantage of its mobile capabilities to reach multiple villages during a single outreach without burning staff out. Also, the inflatable tents for the hospital were a special high tech design that needed patent protection. In the end, it all came down to a lack of funding and support.
