Looking for skate tips? Hello! My Name is Marilyn Tantrum and I have been skating for 9 years Welcome to my channel - Have a look around ^.^ Skating Coaching Cert: 2017
The tricky bit.. the cheep skates you listed are over 300$.. Now that seems fine for someone who skates, but if these are your first pair, and you're not even sure if you'd like the sport. That's quite an investment.
Hi.. i didn't break a thing but my pride recently. I've been good about gear i have extra sets & everything but one time i let lil ppl make me angry and decided to scooter to the store. I almost got hit by a car and slid on my right bosom and hands. I came back looking like i fell off a motorbike. Needless to say I'm the walking poster board for wear your gear! 😂 I learned my lesson and couldn't wipe my own bum for a week. It can happen anytime to anyone. Any who I've been off skates for weeks and just got back in them yesterday and I missed it so much!!
The cheapest quads I will ever buy are Rio Rollerskates due to the 220lbs weight limit. I learned early that plastic is NOT okay 😂. I had black skate gear skates and couldn't change the cushions or toe stop. That was a sign they were for playing children.
Opposite direction crossovers are my kryptonite this year.. i get too scared to drop my shoulder and lean into it 😂 i have to kill my inner chicken by summer's end 😂
I had to double back and tell you that my neighbors hate me now 😂😂 oh well skiirt 😂😂 there's also nothing betta than a derby bum and toe stop curtsy 😂😂
When I hear someone say, “I just bought my own pair of skates” and they bring these out excitedly … I just shudder internally. They make your entrance to skating horrible!
I appreciate that you're wearing a helmet. Most skaters who make videos don't often wear helmets and I think it's really important to support safe skating, especially for beginners.
From someone who recovered from one really bad injury and other minor injuries all alone - the advice you give on this video is 100% solid. I wish i had a video like this back then. Thank you ❤
Can you do a video on training yourself to be less afraid of falling? I know how to fall (fall small, on the knee pads one at a time hopefully) but I keep trying to catch myself whenever i start to fall which will not be good when I'm cleared for contact in derby. Any drills besides knee taps that can make falling less scary?
@@MarilynTantrum I think so, I find I’m gripping with my outer toes, strangely, and I think it’s related. I’m going to try tightening them a little tomorrow. Thank you so much for replying, I’m a new baby skater. ☺️ And I jumped today, thanks to your video!
@@MarilynTantrum I splurged for Moxi’s, after strongly considering Boardwalks and Chuffed, the size chart favored Moxi for my size. I watched your Chuffed video, and they are so beautiful!
INFJ-A The description was close to me, but not dead on. Getting my first pair of skates tomorrow!!! ☺️🛼 Edit: So many of the skating videos are from 3 years ago. 😅I’m a bit late to the trend party. Jillian, Party of 1. 😂
I still don’t get how to determine if truck is too loose. The little bit of wiggle is good for me because it allows me to turn but I don’t understand where I should look for a gap? Is the gap supposed to be between the nut and the bearing or the metal piece that is under the nut? Thanks
This video was very helpful. I'm (very) new to the skate world lol & been trying to learn from different content creators. I came across your video & will definitely keep watching. Great content...keep it up.😊🛼
I really need to learn to not compare myself to others but it’s so hard seeing all the others on my team be so much better then me and I think like that because I’m the 2nd oldest in my team and seeing people like 5-10 years younger then me do a lot better makes me nervous while skating near them because I don’t think I’m good. But I guess it’s practice
@@MarilynTantrum I'm doing ok week 12 I got back on my skates, I broke it at roller derby intake last year, never been on skates before and got super competitive and over confident lol now back with the team on skates, they are all super helpful and encouraging so getting there slowly
I am slowly but surely getting transitions, attempting crossovers, pivot turns. I tried hybrid wheels for my garage that actually made doing the crossovers easier since it was lighter than my gummy wheels. One day I will try harder wheels when I'm braver. Thanks for all your tips and drills!
Beautiful statement!! Hello love!! I watched your videos religiously when I was first learning. I am still skating!! And get better every time. My progress has been slower than others but not too shabby for a 46 year old!
