The tricky bit.. the cheep skates you listed are over 300$.. Now that seems fine for someone who skates, but if these are your first pair, and you're not even sure if you'd like the sport. That's quite an investment.

When I hear someone say, “I just bought my own pair of skates” and they bring these out excitedly … I just shudder internally. They make your entrance to skating horrible!

The cheapest quads I will ever buy are Rio Rollerskates due to the 220lbs weight limit. I learned early that plastic is NOT okay 😂. I had black skate gear skates and couldn't change the cushions or toe stop. That was a sign they were for playing children.

I'm so glad plates are at least somewhat replaceable for skates, the pair i bought for derby have a plastic "nylon" plate and when I get paid again I'm going to buy metal plates soon! Luckily my ankle is still sprained so even if school and practice is starting up, I won't be skating for a minute.

The boot touches the wheels but the wheels don't move to make a turn 🤡 There are some good skates with plastic-like plates (Chayas for park skating for example, they are supposed to endure a lot), but I don't know how to differentiate them from plain plastic. Plastic-like trucks, though, I think I've never heard of any that would be worthy.
