OMG - I can't believe how much useful information you packed into this video. Amazing down to earth rich content. 'Click' - that's the sound of me following. Great job, keep the work up😊
Thanks! I put a little more practice into it and now it works even better. By now I also ladder started the Leviathan Pro 1160 and also the Razor Pro 975 (-:
Hey thanks for all the great content. Any further thoughts on the Leviathan 1350 with the PTM fuse. Have you decided whether it was the crash or just the weight of the foil which caused the damage to the barrell knuts? I notice one of the earlier comments was using the PTM AL mast. I'm thinking of the Leviathan 1350 just for light wind winging on the PTM fuse with 72 cm PTM Al mast. What do you think? Thanks again....
Hey, I am still not sure and will probably never be able to really tell. The barrel nuts are pretty small and I could imagine that just riding the Leviathan 1350 could bend them. But they are cheap and easy to replace (-: . For light wind winging I don't really like the 1350 but maybe I am just to small and light. It's like winging in slow motion and frontwings like the Razor and Razor Pro are much more fun without sacrificing to much low end.
@@hoppline Interesting. I was thinking something similar. I just switched boards to an AFS White Bird 6'8" from a 5'9" Duotone Sky Free and I was out on my PTM G1007 yesterday for the maiden voyage. Fantastic experience. The large mid aspect foils have plenty of lift and glide and are still super maneuverable - I'm just not sure the 1350 would do much better for winging - especially at $1000 more! The board makes a massive difference as of course does skill. Also going to do any videos on Foil Drive assisted winging - any thoughts to share?
@@johnnoble1967 You totally nailed it! Not sure about your weight but with the right board I can wing start a PTM1007 without wind. So a lot is practice and skills. A 1350 would make the start easier for sure but once you are up on foil you pay for that with less speed and maneuverability. My favorite front wing at the moment for light wind winging is the Sabfoil Razor Pro 975: High Aspect, super fast, amazing low end and pump and with a little more active approach easy to get up on foil. In combination with a Foil Drive I can get up and ride the smallest wind swell on my local river almost forever. I made my first 10 km plus attempt on tanker waves yesterday but hit some wood and failed. Next attempted tomorrow. I am working on a lot of Foil Drive content at the moment, mainly start, pump and downwind but also some winging. So lots of stuff coming up. The Foil Drive really has been on of the best investments I recently did
Look forward to seeing the content - I’m currently limited to flat water inland lakes mostly. Skeptical that the foil drive will be worth it for me - it ain’t cheap!!!
🤣🤣..... you are not alone, but trust me, it keeps getting better. Just don't force it and try to enjoy "the journey". I just sized down to the Leviathan Pro 1160 and Razor Pro 975 and it feels like starting all over again (-: So we are on a similar boat
JA !!
yeah! The 1160!!! did you try the 1060 also? How does it compare to the razors? As you proposed i train pumping now on the 1150 (which is perfect), but i don’t like it winging, although it gets me going in no wind. Thanks alot for your testing! eager to learn more about the 1060 and 1160 as they fit my SAB and Slingshot fuse!
Same here, love my Leviathan 1150 / S325 set up for pumping! Get's me 10 out of 10 starts in more or less any condition but I am on your side when it comes down to winging. I do know some heavier guys that really enjoy winging the 1150 and 1350 but for my liking they are to slow and there are other wings I can pump up in low winds that provide more thrill riding. Haven't tried the 1060 yet as I just worked my way down to the 1160 but they really do cut through the water like nothing else! Pumping is super fast and it still feels free and carvy. Foot position is more important and makes a huge difference. A few centimeters off can make the foil feel totally different but if you have it dialed in, I was surprised how efficient the 1160 is. I guess you could pump it for pretty much as long as the 1150 with just the window for mistakes being a little smaller. I still have to take it out light wind winging and see how it goes. The Razor Pros are among my favorites right now and really shine in any sort of waves. From what I can tell now, the Razor Pro handle sloppy and slow waves better than the Leviathan Pro. The Leviathan Pro shines in wave with a little more depth and power, prefered with a clean face. The Razor Pro does get away with less for sure. Will do some further testing get more content our there (-:
YES, but I do pump so many foils at the moment. Brief summary: Easy going and long distance I still love the original Leviathan 1150, mostly paired with a F663K and a S325 stab. For flat water paddle ups and pumping with DW boards I swap the S325 for the S370. If I plan to pump into some wind swell or tanker waves I opted for a PIUMA set with a F652P or F602P fuselage and a S325 again. Usually I am on a M76P mast. The Razor 980 is the one I can start from more or less any position fairly consistent and it can keep up with the speed of most waves. I can dockstart the 975 Razor Pro as well but that's a lot of hit and miss and if you have been waiting for a tanker for hours and than miss the wake the additional speed does not make up for that. On my Foil Drive I mainly go for the Razor Pro 975 as it allows me to still pump for longer distances so I can get back to where I came from. On short runs and good tanker waves I prefer the Razor Pro 875. Still pumpable but at a much higher pace and heart rate (-: ! The light PIUMA set paired with a small Razor Pro is such a game changer in waves. It's so much fun and I which I could even go down to the 825 or 775 but I guess it will need a lot more training before I can dock start any of those.....THANK GOD IT'S SUMMER !!!
Not really DIY, it's a board from a local shaper called MIO. Made from Paulownia wood with a hollow construction but I design a custom look and grip (-:
Yeap, but still more painful than I wish. My feet still do hurt in the morning and late in the day and for some strange reason the worst is in the middle of the night when I am asleep for at least 3 hours. Wakes me up almost every night. Need to see a doctor again but the health system is getting worse and worse in Germany and I have been waiting for an appointment for more than a month now 🤬
Leo is on a custom build he shaped from an old windsurfer, so hard to tell how much volume the board has. He is 95 kg and I think he was on a Fanatic Aero Carve 1400. He later said the foil was mounted a little to far back and he could have been going even earlier with a better balance but he was REALLY pleased with the LITEFORCE.
Hey, we have a wind measuring system on the yacht club right on the spot which is a little above water level of the river. Unfortunately this does not always translate to the actual wind right on the water. We did some measurements on our own right at the spot entry and my calculation of 5-6 knots is based my experience from those tests in combination with the reading from the yacht club. For the video I also looked at the readings from MeteoGroup Nederland BV and they are more or less matched my calculation. So from all this and more than 25 years of surfing background I think all numbers mentioned in the video should more or less reflect the real wind. The Ozone Lite Force really allowed me to get up very early and stay up in the slightest breeze, but I guess with this setup I would be able to get up with no wind at all (-:
@@hopplinereason for the comment is that people obviously measure wind speed differently. 10 meters up in the air is not the same as at 1.5 meters. Not sure if there is a standard but for winging the sea level measurement makes obviously more sense. you ask a kiter and they have a higher altitude benchmark, supposedly more stable not sure.
Hey, clear and clear basic are the same traction pads, just different quantity. I got the bigger package which is the CLEAR. It's double the pads over the CLEAR BASIC at a little discount. If you want to save another 10% I just negotiated a discount code. Just use "hoppline" during checkout (minimum order 60 €). It's an affiliate program so I get a little commission at no extra cost for you.
As a crossover for multiple disciplines I think it is one of the best boards available! Light, sturdy and really nice shape. I only used it for pumping and behind a boat but it was a very smooth ride. Can totally recommend it!
Awesome to hear! Do you happen to have any experience with the Gong Kluber 95? It’s another board I’m also considering, and curious about it vs this slingshot.
We just tied the rope to the mast very close to the board. Not the best solution but if you make sure the rope is on tension before you start towing it does the trick.
I can’t imagine me with my 90 kg on a medusa pro 669 in 15 knots 🤣🤣🤣 Probably you are very thin!!! It’s a front wing for a storming condition for my heavy weight!!!! My front wing for all conditions it’s medusa 909….
YEAP! I am 65 kg so 90kg and 15 knots would be a REAL challenge. The 669 excels in stormy conditions but even on "windy" days it can be fun. You just have to keep it on a certain speed level by for example riding more turns than you normally would. But I agree, for most people the 669 will be a storm frontwing and the 909 will be the best allround wing for sure!
@@hoppline yes!! The only advice for all the new pro lines in my opinion it’s to make the tail little bit rounded because are very thin and sharp….. For our safe and the safe for out gear….💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
In the last bit of that clip I noticed the difference in rocker between the 4'6" HR and thr 4'2" HR. It looks thicker too. Im considering down sizing from 5'2" to the 4'6" just for foil drive. On another note have you ridden the slingshot flying fish? They are on sale here
Hey Grant, you are absolutely right. The 4'0'' HR is not a shrinked version, it's actually a slightly different shape, less length but still keeping most of the volume. Hopefully get to test it very soon. I have not tried the Flying Fish but had a go at the Ride Engine 4'8'' which I also bought. It took it out winging in heavy winds and with 45l the start does require some lift but I had a blast!!!
@@hoppline that RE board would have been the escape pod. The dad board is 52 L I think. I'll chat with the Slingshot Australia sales manager to see what my pricing is like. The 4'6" flying fish is 35 L & 21.5 " VS the HR at 32 L & 19.8" I'm looking at which one has a better rocker ( flatter hull) and less pointy nose.
@@granthore90 YEAP, it's the escape pod but I guess I will only use it for winging. I trying all kind of different boards at the moment with my foil drive. Same with frontwings, will make a video on sizing down soon....
I came to same conclusion than you .I switched to full traction pad and never looked back. For the wax you need base coat, you multiple wax for winter, for summer and you have to redo it often because it get nasty or it melt and or sometime even slipery . I prefer regular pad, never had rash but there codura pad now, why pad over stick hexa, because some board are so rigid like my libtech puddle jumper, you have to find a way to reduce strain on your tendons muscle bone and so on, i brought sticker from Decathlon brand but they were not sticking on the board really well. Another alternative is to use cork , it's work really well.
VERY GOOD POINT !! On my wing boards I do use foam pads for the reason you mentioned. But on the prone, surf and Foil Drive I don't jump to much and prefer the more direct feel. I just put a kork deck on my pump board and well see how this goes very soon.....
SPOILER: It's pretty easy and straight forward. Just take your time for the layout. I hope to finish the filming or the tutorial this week and have it online within a few days.

Dank Dir !!

Great talk. For me e-foiling is a perfect entry into foiling even if you are not in shape ;-) After spending some time on e-foil I always prefer winging or even winging with Foil Drive.
Nailed it! Same here !!! On my FoilDrive I went for the smallest battery so I am kind of forced to pump in between. It's more workout than you might think and your normal foiling will benefit from efoiling for sure!
