I have used mine on a range trip. They both worked great. I watched a torture test of the tmag compared with other mags. It seemed to do very well. It remains to be seen how well it would do in cold weather.
In this trip, I'm running the SilencerCo QD mount and brake. However I have since switched to the Area419 Sidewinder Brake and Suppressor mount adapter. There will still be a POI shift, although it's exactly up/down in this case, I think it's half a mil. I also have zeroed the rifle with the can since I prefer to shoot it with suppressor 100% of the time now.
Just picked up the Co Ax and was wondering how it would be seating bullets with magnum calibers like 300 NM. If it can do 338 LM, I'll be fine. Killer video by the way.
Yup, works perfectly, although If you have a die with a bullet alignment collar like Redding does, you kinda have to slide the cartridge up into the mouth of it first, and then into the shell plate. Zero issues though. Enjoy the caliber, it’s awesome and thanks for watching.
I always thought the Lancers were brittle. I cracked one during a live entry but don't know how. In saying that that's the only one that I've personally broken. I trust Magpul way more, but the Lancer do look cool. Idea for channel just show your guns and shoot them in videos. We got the same taste in firearms.
Pros: Can identify ammo types/calibers Has more detailed round count info than a windowed pmag plus you can also just take a quick look at the mag rather than a small window Lighter weight Slick sides are thinner making them fit in pouches and hands easier Compatible with most pmag accesories Same gen 3 pmag features and reliability Cons: Less durable material Reflective Less grippy Cant take mag couplers More expensive
In the video I have the following: Surefire SOCOM 556RC (First Generation) mounted on a Warcomp Closed-tine hider, Surefire Scout Light (early version) on an LWRC Offset light mount due to proprietary rail (Arisaka makes one now) LWRC tan rail panels, Geissele SD3G trigger, B5 grip, B5 Bravo stock, Strike Industries buffer tube, Geissele Super 42 buffer spring and H2 Buffer, EOTech EXPS 2-2 (It now has a Tan EXPS 3-0 on it with Unity riser) and BlueForceGear convertible 1-2 point sling. Mags are Lancer AWM translucent tan. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Haven't used them yet, but they are a simpler construction, as in one-piece feedlips, and similar size floorplates. The feel high quality. I think some other people have done more comprehensive durability and abuse tests, there are a few out there, as most people have just received theirs yesterday and the week before. I like them so far but will know more once I use them. I've always liked the lancers a lot. The lancers I use for the range have had many hundreds of load-unload cycles and only now after 8 years are starting to show varying spring rates. I have one in particular that induces occasional failures due to a weakened spring. A lot of people hate on the Lancers due to increased weight, and potentially-perceived failures of steel feed lips which I haven't experienced myself.
@shootloadrepeat tmag looks Kinda cheap to me compared to let’s say the lancer mags I think they could have done a bit better design. There are a few torture test videos out now and Magpul, lancer have always come out on top.
@@RAWBOT301 All I used for duty was Pmags or Lancers. Everything else had some problems. There were a few guys I knew that their rifles didn’t seat Lancers well though. The shelf/mag catch must’ve been set a hair too high. My PWS rifle & Aero lower rifles seated both well though.
Front and back spines are superb as far as grip is concerned. Not aggressive, but can be easily pulled out of a pouch if you do a beer-can grip. If you pinch them from the bottom, there's not a ton of grip but you can use the Magpul replacement floor plates to grab them, or use the standard floorplates as a grip feature. They're really good in that respect. Better than steel or AL mags as far as grip is concerned. Chest rig or super tight taco users might want to use the ranger plates, etc.
I do have some footage with the 11.5 version. Just undecided on what to do with it. There are so many videos of others shooting the 11.5 version, and I doubt someone would want to see an inexpert review style video. I'm not good enough to just put out a range video showing cool scenes, etc. lol. I changed it to an SBR mainly because I think the MCX or AR-180 with folding mechanics is better suited as a discreet-carry and shorter barrel gun and thus more useful in that configuration. If I want a long patrol rifle then I'm not going to be concerned with its length so much as its performance at range. I still have the 16in barrel and handguard. Just need an upper assembly and will build a dedicated Spear patrol length upper. Thanks for watching and commenting. I'll do a long-term video of the Spear LT as I put a few more thousand rounds through it.
Thank you so much I do want you to know that people do want to watch your videos you actual show the gun and do interesting videos stop being hard on yourself and thinking your not “cool” your videos are amazing give usssss content
Not everyone can be a RU-vid 0pErAt0r. The optic suits my purposes just fine. Would I love to have something better? Of course. It's just not in the budget right now. At least I'm not an Arken shill like some. I know its limitations and have no issues stating that it's a cheap chinesium optic. It's just adequate for me and my usecase at the moment. One day I might splurge and get something better. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@shootloadrepeat Arkens are great. It’s just personal 😅 I have had my mars h dmr 20 inch ss barrel sitting in the safe since may with no optic. Finally pulled the trigger on a NF that comes Thursday. I could of been enjoying it all this time if I just snagged their 5-25x! My buddy has it on one of his bolt guns and it is super crispy glass!
I honestly can't recall nor find exactly where I got it, but if you have an early MRAD without the MLOK, then you can try these guys: www.sawtoothrifles.com/product/dovetail-rail-barrett-mrad/ If you have an MRAD that is newer, and has MLOK, Area 419 has one that fits the MK22 and other MLOK MRADs just fine. www.area419.com/product/arcalock-rail-for-barrett-mrad-mk22-sniper-system/
00:00 - 06:02 : Intro with reloading of these loads. If you look carefully, you get all of the information you need to make your own for this platform. 06:06 - 08:05 : Going over load data, wind, and setup 08:07 - Shooting starts. First string, 2nd round impact at 1000. 9 out of 10 hits 11:00 - Shooting starts. Second string. First round impact on IPSC torso target. 5 out of 6 hits, and best group of the day yielding a 5 inch group at 1000. (1/2 MOA) 11:50 - Transition to 60% torso target, only 2 out of 3 hits. 12:30 - Shooting at multiple targets, multiple ranges, using only holdovers. Not doing very well off the tripod though. Some hits but I'm not stable.
Great vid, great shooting as well. My 20” LMT 6.5 likes the 140’s much better than the 130 Berger, I haven’t taken out to distance yet, can’t wait to stretch its legs past 300 yrds. Keep up the great work. Are you running the stock gas system or did you upgrade the gas tube to a BRT tube.
Thanks for the words. Indeed I also had really good results with 140 ELD-M's and StaBall powder. I had 1k of these Bergers and was adamant about making them work. My first OCW with the 130 AR's yielded some mediocre groups until I seated them a bit deeper and changed the powder to N-555. I have an OCW target in the 42 grain charge weight that have 3 shots in a single hole. Thought it was a fluke and tried it again and got similar, albeit slightly larger groups. The velocity sweet spot for our barrels is around 2675-2700 fps on this platform as far as I can tell. I also gained some velocity lost by the shorter 20" barrel. The gas system is bone stock and perfectly gassed even suppressed. Both Ventum high flow and Surefire SOCOM high back pressure cans. I have a 50/50 and a SD tube on standby if I ever need to change them out. So far so good.
Holy moly that grouping at 1000 is amazing!! Awesome video and awesome shooting!!!! That new gear you use elevates the video quality greatly. The drone shots are amazing. The intro editing is also exceptional!!
Thank you so much for the feedback. 8K down-sampled to 4K in 12 bit raw.....A bit much but in controlled environments it produces excellent images. Glad you noticed and enjoyed.
Some good questions, components, Barrel, Trigger, and ammo selection, plus a patient shooter using a stable position, will often equal a good firing solution. There are so many options to choose from these days, that it can be overwhelming, especially when it come to following people who have experience, knowledge, and talent. They can be influential since they have sponsors, support, and money to choose the latest and greatest. At the end of the day, what matters most is what you gave the least attention to, and that would be your closing statement and if we don't know our have a relationship in obedience to " The LORD " none of the other investments will matter...! I still use a 5.56 for my precision platform, since it is able to get out there if I do my part, it is probably the least expensive of all cartridges ( especially when hand loading to get the most consistency ) and components are readily available, recoil is almost non existent, so you can stay on target for quick follow up shots. You may even consider trying to hold instead of dialing, that way your never lost because you forgot to return to zero, and if need be holding will save you time if on a follow up shot you need to make a quick correction on wind or elevation, this help's tremendously on those targets that would like t get away from what they were destined for... Stay safe young warrior, and may the Lord God Almighty continue to sharpen " The Sword" He has given you ...
How come AR's platform has not been able to ABBOLISH this FORWARD ASSIST button once and for all ?! It is the only rifle which has it ... Is it possible to get RID OF IT ??
What's your opinion on the STOCK folding INWARDS, not OUTWARDS ? To me, it is a VERY PROBLEMATIC proposition as the stock gets tangled with uniform, equipment, etc. and the shooter needs to open some room between its body in order to deploy it. FN-FAL deploys outwards...
@@renatosureal I don’t have ausecase in which that matters too much since I’m not a professional in that sense, but the beauty of the system being modular jeans that you can indeed get a stock that collapses inward like an MP5 but you have to buy that stock, or outwards to the right by just flipping the folding mechanics around.
I've heard that from some. Did you buy an upper and fit it to a separate LMT lower? What are the fitment issues? Did you try filing the fitment tabs to mate them up? They do that at the factory for you on complete rifles, then match them up to a lower for fitment. If bought separate, they expect the end user to do the fitting. Was that the issue with yours? Too tight? Or too loose? If loose, or lines not matching, then yes I would return it. It does seem that QC on everything after the Covid cashgrab has gone down in quality and up in price. It ain't right on something this expensive, or anything, regardless of price. Hope you get it fixed, because the platform is awesome and well regarded by many.
@@shootloadrepeat I tried everything the tabs are a big misconception they are for if your upper/lower are to tight you shave then to increase the space to have a looser fit. Anyway my gun was a new lmt 308 quad upper on a new lmt lower and it fit horrible they shook and wobbled I sent my upper and lower back to the company I bought from and they paired it up and it’s perfect now
I guess there is a usecase for portability and maneuverability in close areas. The Rattler in 300AAC is probably the ultimate PDW and I am looking for parts to build an FDE one someday. I know you can get the black ones all day every day, so may have to settle for one of those.
I just brought home a RPR-338LM, and the off the shelf ammo is so expensive so Ill eventually start reloading to save a few bucks. Thank you for this in depth and informative video. Cheers-
For 338LM and any other super magnum cartridge you definitely want to look into handloading else the costs go way beyond the price of the rifle if you want any meaningful use out of it. This barrel I'm using has now 4000 rounds of 338LM through it, which if I had purchased factory ammo it would exceed 15K USD on the low end. Factory can go between 3-15USD per round whereas I can load these for 2.50 per round using new brass, and then afterwards reuse the brass and drop the cost down to below 1 dollar. It's worth it for sure. Same goes for the new 300 and 338 Norma Magnums and PRC's.
@@shootloadrepeat How is the barrel holding up after 4000 rds? I've looked into the barrel life of 338 and keep seeing different answers. I don't care if I have to change a barrel every 1000 rds, the problem is, I have a AXSR and it's difficult finding barrels for it. I like heavier profile barrels and the ones from Proof are thinner than I'd like.
Took mine out to a mile recently and other than it being horrendously over gassed with my sandman, I'm loving it so far. I'm sure once I get a BRT tube to tame the gas it will be wonderful.
@@vurvurvur I got a BRT tube for my factory barrel but never installed it because it seemed to be properly gassed even with original SOCOM 762 RC can I had on it. I should do a slomo video of the ejection pattern maybe I’m missing something. I’m really digging this platform in 6.5.
@@shootloadrepeat I took some slow mo of mine and its definitely extracting cases while still under pressure, occasionally its rotating cases 180 degrees within the ejection port and not actually ejecting them causing a gnarly FTE that results in me crushing the next round being loaded. If you ended up buying the 50/50 tube ill take it off your hands lol.
I installed them on my MWS a few weeks ago, great look and function….. I haven’t taken it out yet hopefully next weekend. D. Wilson did a great job on these
It's been to the range twice, and it shot amazingly-well. It feels like a laser with hit after hit at 1K that it's almost boring. As for video, I'm having issues with Premiere Pro crashing every 45 seconds so range videos are slow to come. Adobe is telling me to wait for the next patch which is BS. Hopefully soon.
Let us know if the Ventum messes with the barrel harmonics. I have the same setup and I think it might on mine but have to do some more testing. The first round of a mag seems to fly high with all ammo and then all the following rounds drop into place.
My groups at 1k have not changed, and I think it may actually have improved them somewhat. This rifle in the current config feels like a laser. I have tons of footage but Adobe Premiere fatal issues are causing problems with the edits. I'm waiting on some badly-needed patches to upload more content, but it's been great so far.
I don't know much about guns, but I enjoy your videos! A question that might sound really dumb: Shouldn't a suppressor be in the same caliber as the rifle round? You mentioned a 7.62 suppressor but the rifle is chambered in 6.5? Again, it might be a stupid question but I want to learn!
It's normally OK to run a caliber smaller than the bore diameter of the suppressor. You might lose a tiny bit of sound attenuation but it poses no danger so long as the round is stabilized as it goes through the baffle stack. Stabilization is a function of the barrel rifling and bullet length/weight so if that part is not good then there is always a risk of baffle strikes regardless of bore diameter.
I haven't actually researched this too much, but here is a post where someone with experience is using a maglock on their Spear LT. www.reddit.com/r/CAguns/comments/18iqj14/spear_lt_maglocked/
I'm not sure of the legality, and don't take this as advice, but I assume you are not allowed to have a folding stock, so I would try to find a 1913 straight/non-folding knuckle to replace the folding mechs that it comes with. Then you can put the minimalist stock on it. But I really don't know the answer to this or who might offer it. Maybe JMAC customs makes a fixed adapter that you can bolt the Sig stock to?
Thank you for all the informations. So that colour you chose is a custom colour its not the Cadex Tan or the Burned bronze?i mean you ordered it in that colour? Also if you could tell me when we receive the Cadex Chassis we alone do the configuration to our TIKKA T3X or we must take it to a gunsmith, and if its easy to use also both TIKKAS Chassi and CADEX chassi as a choise when we want as both are very beautiful.
.338 LM at 1000 yards with no wind is stupid easy if your elevation holds are solid. 1 MOA .308 at 1000 on the other hand would be a lot more impressive. .338 at that range won’t go transonic until quite a bit past 1000 so the bullet is super stable.
Yes it can be. Hardest part for most is finding a range that can let them stretch their legs a bit. For those that can't, they live vicariously through people's videos. Until I found the place I shoot at, I thought I would never have the chance to shoot long range, and also seemed like a faraway dream and an unachievable experience. That's why I like to show some POV because that is what I wanted to see in videos for a long time and could never find people doing it. There were only one or two people doing the POV long range thing three years ago when I first posted mine. Next Zip Code and one other if I remember correctly. Now everyone is doing it and that's a great thing. People with more time to post content can now provide similar or better experience to new or aspiring shooters, showing them that it's not that difficult, and is a lot of fun. At the end of the day, it's good therapy, almost like golf. Thanks for watching.
