Wearing pants tucked into long socks , throwing clothes in hot dryer and taking a shower immediately. This has helped me curb pretty much all tick issues . I also spray myself with some tick spray I have with peppermint as well as off up to my waist . Permethrin is the way to go however

Well done. Looks like the CDC is moving forward with a new ingredient, 'nootketone'. As it is a component of Vetiver Oil, products like your natural spray may have that as well in future.
Sensatious Hiatus , Mike great to hear from you. Glad you liked the video.. CT AT has been getting trashed with everyone coming to the trail because of the pandemic and not caring about the natural world. Sad. Anyways man Rock on.
@@Who1yo Man, I hate to hear that...people can really suck sometimes. Well, I hope you'll keep making videos and continue to show others how to respect our natural world. I'm living in AZ now and was missing the AT so I just did a random search for AT RR's lol...glad I found your video though man, take care!
go to pow wow and start a polite conversation. sometimes a craft vendor will display there tribe, buy an item from them and if they are not too busy spark a conversation. just be respectful.
@@Jackson.T Good question, I have never heard of essential oils attracting bears. Bears are attracted to food and garbage. The oils don't have a strong odor. if you are hiking with a bottle of oil i would be safe and hang it in a bear bag or place it in a bear box with your food/toothpaste/scraps. I have never had a close bear encounter because of oils on my skin while camping.
Good vid, thanks. Land surveyor here, I'm I the brush too... a word on mosquitoes. You need a quality repellent just for them. Permethrin is a great insecticide, but only a fair repellent, and mosquitoes can sometimes land and bite through treated clothing before it takes effect. You'll need ess.oils, deet, or picaridin for exposed skin anyway. Ticks, however, can be stubborn. Even with high percentage Deet, which I've also found the most effective, there's still the odd tick that just doesn't care and stays aboard. It's better than nothing, but they reduce - not prevent - ticks from getting on you. This is where permethrin excels. Treated clothing starts killing them almost immediately, and if they don't bail in one minute (which I see them often do upon exposure), they die in ten. Ticks always wander for a while before biting, so the product has plenty of time to protect you from them. TL; DR version - permethrin for ticks, repellent for mosquitoes. PS, permethrin treatments are most effective for the first 3 weeks. Mileage varies, but wear, washing, and sunlight break the chemical down with the spray treatments. Stay in effective for months is possible, but I reapply treatment on the 3rd week based on the heavy usage of said clothing. It is also DEATHLY toxic to cats and aquatic animals while initially wet, so take care during initial application. Once dry, there's little to fear even when re-wetted. It's 1500 times LESS toxic to humans than arthropods, and poorly absorbed through skin at that. The chemical is derived from naturally occurring compounds found in Chrysanthemum flowers, and has been in military use in uniforms for decades. I hope this alleviates some apprehension against its use, as I'm in the thick of Marin county tick hell daily, and perceived chemical fears are far less dangerous to me than the realities of Lyme disease exposure. Keep safe, stay diligent.
There is no such thing as a US Indian that's how I know those agents trying to steal the resources and land culture and language just like they did in the past. Nothing new under the sun. When are the real natives that are a part of our society going to unite. I'm talking about all south America an North American Moors. WE NEED TO UNITE AND DO SOMETHING
If you want to keep ticks off you and to kill them also,Permithrin is the go to. Only thing about it is if it's still wet it's deadly dangerous to your cats.
Ohhh Also if you wear jeans or trousers open at the shoe/boot you want to turn the pant's/trousers inside out and spray that side too. I've been logging etc and using Permithrin since it 1st hit the shelves.
ha no idea but the BB guys told me they named the blue one jim. i said why jim and they said seemed like a good name! seen him on a couple overnights there.
You get it. The good news is that the slow recovery from spiritual sickness is happening worldwide. It will gain a pace in generations to come. Lets do the work.
