Awesome video and I have a question. I noticed that you have the negatives of both batteries connected and one negative going to the negative bus. Would this be the same result of connecting both negatives to the negative bus? Thank you
What if I just have lights bilge pump and radio working off the large deep cycle. I’m on a sailboat and one of my 12v the smaller one died. Do I need two?
Thanks for the vids. I have a 24v trolling motor setup. Can I run these chargers up to each of my trolling motor batteries from the start motor. I was looking at MinnKota's alternator, but my Honda 40h alternator is less than Minn Kota's recommended alternator output, so I was looking at this for an alternative...Or do you thing the Monn Kota alternator would work
Great install. I can tell you've done this before. I can't do a botl thru for the motor bracket, can you suggest something? I have a v hull type boat and very interested in getting a trolling motor. Thanks, Steve
if you have 2 downriggers drawing 20amps, will you need a 40 amp circuit breaker or 2 20 amp circuit breakers? What about your fish finder? Is it bad to get an overly large amperage circuit breaker?
It's helped plenty of people install one .. I'm not a fan of the bracket myself.. but there are directions that come with the bracket maybe they will help you more then the video
How do you keep track of how much salt to add when you are making the salt water? Is some sort of levels called out on the tanks to know how much water you are adding? I wish you would do more tank videos!!
Yes there are marks on the tank in ten gallon increments. so when I make saltwater I pump over R.O. Water to the salt side and then flip the valves to circulate the water in the salt tank. and then add the number of scoops per each gallon and let it mix .. thanks for watching I appreciate it! If I did make more videos it would probably have to be what not to do videos! 🤣 I'm struggling right now to get my nitrates down I got bad about doing water changes and they went up I'm getting my refugium set up to help export them out! And back doing water changes each week..
If I'm trolling for salmon, my engine and downrigger would be constantly running. Is the solution to hook up the downrigger to the crank battery? Or have the DR hooked up to deep cycle battery and have the switch on 1&2 so the engine runs and the downrigger is also running?
That thing falls out in the gravel and grass and it's gone! Ask me how I know. Greatly informative! Thank you! Hope you are enjoying your new trolling motor and catching lots of fish!
running your switch in 1 and 2 does the same thing when your motor is running. Once you turn you motor off and are on anchor, etc, turn your switch to number 2 position so you are drawing off the house battery and not the starter.
This is a great video, I have a pontoon with a 50hp yamaha 2 stroke, and my question is where would I attach the charger/regulator of of the motor? The bus bar? The starter battery (but then deep cycle would not change). I was going to mount a small 40w solar panel off the back with a charge controller thinking it would help deep cycle stay charged, but my hunch is I would connect it to same place as engine charger/regulator. But still uncertain where that would be. Any help would be greatly welcomed.
Quick question 2 marine batteries Perko 4 way 1-2 off and both switch Negatives from battery are bridged together with motor ground How come I have continuity between postive and ground even with the perko compeltely take out?is that normal? Everything seems to work just fine. Just wasnt sure. With perko in place. 1-2 post have continuity even when the switch is off.
I have the same motor. It hasn’t ran since I had it winterized in the fall.. I put the muffs on it but I didn’t get any water out of the telltale.Maybe ran it for 3-4 minutes . talked to the shop that winterized the boat and they indicated that if there was an issue with the impeller, they would have let us know in the fall. Could I “push” water through the clean out by the motor up and down switch on the left hand side? Or maybe gently insert a short piece of weed eater line in the telltale? Never having put muffs on before, I’m not even sure I had them on correctly. I did have some water coming out of the prop. Thanks!
great video thanks. Question. I have a noco 3 bank charger. Banks 2 and 3 charge the 2- 12 volt batteries for the 24v electric up front. Bank1 goes to the starting and house battery through the ACR. So bank one charges the starting battery first and then switches to charge the House battery. Is there any issue with doing it this way? SO far it has been great but maybe my start battery is too old as the Noco is flashing at Bank #1. I will be replacing the start battery as a first thought.
I have Volvo penta Gxi 5.0 liter . Can I use this Seadog on mine ??? I was also looking at the Bluesea ACR but if this sea dog will work it appears to be an easier install I think . I haven’t seeen any videos of anyone installing the Blue sea one on my type of set up .
No it doesn't . You should keep the receipts just in case any issues you have some proof that you have done the maintenance . Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!
Great video - very informative. I have an old pontoon that we are working on and I’m going to add the charger and receptacle like you suggested. Really appreciate the tips from experience!
Hey. I just bought a 2023 mako pro skiff 17cc and I saw you had the same boat and you were a Mercury mechanic. I have been having an issue with my boat where it almost sounds like the prop is slipping but it only does it between 3-4 thousand rpm. The mako plant is trying to say that is how the boat should be. But obviously no boat should run like that. I was curious if you had any input?
