I know there not a second chance company, but would they even consider me after driving for them, after my dui? It’s a solid company and I would love a second opportunity. It never hurts to ask.
Lmfao Smith turned me down. Guess they don't hire drivers with 1.6 million safe miles. No accidents, no tickets, no failed inspections. They wouldn't even tell me why they turned me down.
Well i was with Creete but i decided that having two torn hamstrings chasing a dog was more important. thankfully i found out how crete treats driver when they are out of work for more then 10 days. they force resign ya and cancel the insurance right away. So now i am seriously consiering Smith because i do like the 579 and hear positive things about the company too. hey do you get a referral bonus by any chance?
i was gonna work for crete but my dui wasn’t old enough yet. had to be 5 years post. i imagine they’re pretty similar. the only thing about smith is they don’t have the accessorial pay that crete has. like mileage bonus safety bonus profit sharing etc. they also don’t have a referral bonus either which sucks. otherwise generally speaking it’s fine. there’s a ton of drop and hook. trucks are nice. no driver cams. 68 mph. personally, id recommend if it sounds like it’d be a decent fit. also, you can kinda choose your pay depending on the division like crete. 55-65cpm
I haul pre-cast foundation pieces for a local company here in central Pa. Started 2 months ago being told I would get 45-60 hours a week but have only had more than 40 hours 2 weeks of those past two months. It seems like companies that need drivers will tell you anything that they can to get you hired and then just use you as they seem fit. I love the job but I love driving more than being off. Not in it for just making money but more for being on the road while making it and it seems as though I am off more days then I am working. Nowhere is perfect in my opinion.
that’s an interesting job. i hate the fact that the work isn’t there though, that’s annoying. sacrificing the time away from home, you wanna atleast make money to show for it. i agree though, nowhere is perfect
amazon. it’s an garmin dezl otr700. 7 inch screen. you can buy it “refurbished” which is what i did for $350. i bought mine 3 years ago and it’s worked perfect. connects to wifi for map updates so you’ll always have the latest.
.60 x 2,503 = $1,501.80. Breakdown pay isn’t every week. So $1,501.80 / 70 and you’re making $21.45 an hour gone 2 weeks at a time? Ya I’d rather be home every night at $28 an hour having a life.
I’ve taken those loads for Smith plenty of times all the way from north Jersey to the Ross DC…..and the big thing is …..watch your hours…..drive on….be safe……
That’s about what I make 1700 a week gross I’ve made as much as 2500 in a week and I do 2ooo every once in a while by 1700 about average I like how people always talk like we should be paid all this extra money for being on the road or sleeping in the truck or all this kind of stuff but you gotta be realistic you know I don’t know where people get off talking like that
i get their point, but this isn’t a d*ck measuring contest about who makes the most money. the idea behind this video is for potential new drivers coming over to see in black & white what an average weeks pay is for me. money is #1 reason for turnover. somehow it turned into everyone thinking this is a massive paycheck and i’m like trying to brag or something. i mention in passing that i wish they had referral bonus for drivers on the video. the most money i ever made in a week was like $3700 after taxes at my last company that had a referral bonus. i try to ignore stupid comments honestly. this is ridiculous
@freshwhiteteee idk because the original owners sold the company But I know the Walmart account was paying me 65cpm I worked alot Because I lived in Baltimore I went home often and worked everyday
If you save and can deal with the spying cameras and all the big company bull shit you are making average. Look at the net not actual work.. Trucking is a commission job. Like a sales person. I know some make 100k plusbut work 80.hours.. Still 100k is a 100k. I been driving 3 decades. I will take my 75 k year and 2 months off. Make my own home time. Keep truckin😊
High churn on newly hired drivers, they don't give it a chance, there is NO perfect company out there.all you do is trade on set of problems for another when you Job hop.Been here 18 plus yrs.Just do your job and they treat me great with respect is a 2 way street.
100% right on that. i love smith so far. the job is easy and usually light weight loads which is always invited. wide open windows for drops and pickups on both ends. can’t be much easier
By the way i an in 3348 been with Smith for 18 plus years, run North East Regional home every weekend. You see me stop and say hello if you got any questions.Transflo app receives messages but i don't think reply or outgoing messages go through as far as I know,i could be wrong?
Curious to know some info about the northeast Regional as I am considering applying. How is the pay, miles, how fast are the rigs? Any issues getting home? I have two years dry van experience, Thanks
The Navigation on Qualcomm is another tool available and can compare alternate routes.for accurate ETA on it you have to go in settings and customize favor routes or interstate and set all the speed limits for all favor type of travel.
Another helpful tool is your Suspension load gauge on the 579 you got your good to about 67 to 68 psi for your 34000 on drives, very rarely scale loads when i see what the Suspension indicates.
On your Green stickers only T Call loads fill out ref#, trl, seal # and del date and time.If you deliver load to final consignee, you fill in all information including Name, truck # and pallets if indicating on BOL
I saw your cat scale weight and rule of thumb you always want more weight on your drives than on trl tandems.About 80 % of most Smith loads you want to set your mud flaps under the 48 ft mark on the trailer.I noticed lately to many orientation drivers are sucking the tandems all the way fwd which is uncalled for unless trying to get around a tight bldg.
You gave Smith 168 hours of your life for $1706. That is $10.15 per hour. The net is $7.88 per hour. I know you probably don't look at it this way but you should. Not sure how long you been driving but you should really consider looking for an LTL job or food delivery that pays by the hour and be home every night. I'm 54 now and I did exactly what you are doing now and trust me it is not worth it. I missed out on a lot. Life is too short. The food delivery jobs pay $30 plus per hour and you are home every night.
You gotta be cut from a certain cloth to survive the food delivery business. Not saying this guy isn't, but it's a whole different world from just bumping docks and kicking back in your truck. Yeah, it pays more, but you're working your butt off for that check. You gotta know what you're getting into before just jumping out there thinking your going to get good money. 90% of food delivery jobs will have you so tired when you get home, the home time doesn't even matter. This is coming from someone who's done it and I'm honestly looking to get back into it, albeit with a more strenuous company.
Nope not true... Many food service ltl doesn't pay overtime and bust up your back. Depending on area of the country less than25 per hour. Even Central example no Overtime after 45 or 48 hours.bust up your back. $1700 is better than the alternative. I paid off a home and paid child support and lived a good life. Driving 3 decades. I take off when I want. Dont drive 2 months a year. 75k..
You don’t have to show it know body thinks your lying lol I made .55 per mile as a new driver no experience 6 years ago. Thats not worth staying over the road away from family. Not hating just letting you know you can do better!
@@freshwhiteteee true, with 1 month experience. i mean $1700 gross regional actually isnt bad. now if next week its $1200 gross. than tha next week its $1300 than $1100$ than $1600....its not.
it all depends on what everyone wants to do. local is a good option but for some, they wanna do otr work. walmart is one of the best paying in the game, but uniforms, driver cams and being on a waiting list just to get in they can’t do. that’s the beauty of trucking though, it’s not one size fits all. find whatever works for you
@@WestcoastWallyDriverI started at Walmart 4 month ago netting 2900 every 2 weeks. Tuesday-Saturday. Hope I get there one day, because 2200 to 2400 a week is amazing. 🎉Best of luck
someone told me they have driver cams, thanks for the clarification. uniforms don’t bother me personally, especially for the money, but not everyone is as open minded as me.
