Love the rich, full sound it produces! It sounds and looks like it has a higher copper content in the brass, giving it that warmer tone

If I understand this right, if you were to toot that horn in England they would label you a tenor hornist, but in the states you would be called an alto horn player or a peck hornist
@TheodoreBrown314

Yep. Also note that Australia and New Zealand follow British terminology, while Germany follows American terminology. Not sure about other European countries, though

American design, but aren't those Berliner Pumpen? Sounds great!
@musicalmaintenance
@musicalmaintenance 3 месяца назад
Yes, Berliner valves! The origins of the OTS horn truly begin in Europe, however it seems that the vast majority of its use was in the United States. I think calling these “Dodworth horns” might be a more accurate description.

It's a shame the bell has so much damage, if you were to get the horn plated, they can work out the dents in the bell, this is an amazing find. you might be able to find a musical instrument historian that can direct you into someone who could repair the bell. make sure not to try to remove the dent from the bell yourself it requires a professional repairman that specializes in older instruments. the sound difference after you do this will be substantial, I think I wish you the very best.
