I’ve done about 6 brass bullseye putters with a dual action sander used on cars, I start with 320 grit until the nicks are gone then 1000 grit to remove the scratches from the 320 sanding marks then wet sand it all by hand with 2000 grit then fine steel wool, it doesn’t take long and the whole thing looks like new after, works best on putters that have deep stampings where the writing is on the sole, just have to be careful in that area to not sand any of it off, also mask off where the shaft attaches to the hosel so as to not sand into the chrome plating on the shaft.
They have groove sharpeners for golf clubs and they are pretty cheap and effective. It basically helps you just resurface the current grooves, and you can just do it by hand. Laser engraving options are great too since they are very precise. Looks good though sir
Some guys (like me) let their wedges rust on purpose so they create more back spin. And I’m sure my handicap would be at least one point worse without the rust 😂
I can make my life harder than it needs to be, but I love getting stuck in and just going for it. Glad you liked the final result. I'm fixing a cracked carbon fibre driver next 😮
I get that. It doesn't always turn out how you expect. Just pointing out that it is nice to see the parts that doesn't succeed as well. Love these restoration videos, thanks man.
As a professional metal finish guy... I do this for a living. I HATED some of the stuff you did. But bro... It turned out amazing. Shoot me an email or reply back and I'll shoot you an email and give you some tips to use some chemistry in your refurbs. Pretty easy stuff, I promise. But it'll make your results ALOT better, and take your handwork down.
As I started reading your comment I was worried 😮, but stoked to hear that you liked the result. I'd love some tips if you could send them to beardplaysgolf@gmail.com
I’d also appreciate any nuggets you could share. I’m about to try my first putter refurb & planning on using a torch to get a deep purple ‘heat colour’. Also don’t have a lathe so will be a lot of hand work!
@andypilcher hey andy, with the last putter I refurbed I started with leaving it overnight in Evaporust. The stuff is great and safe to use. Makes the 1st cleanup way easier. What type of putter are you planning to refurb?
Nice job...looks great! An easier...and much cleaner way to regrip is to use plain two inch wide masking tape and iso-alcohol. Once dry the grip is absolutely tight. But when you want to change it out...the grips come back off without cutting. Just use an air compressor with blow nozzle...through the hole in the back of the grip. Last season I regripped my Ping AYD putter but at the time wasn't sure if I wanted to adjust the shaft length. This past week I decided I wanted to shorten it. I took it out to the garage and used the compressor to remove the grip. Cut it down a half inch and put the perfectly good grip right back on. If I had glued it on last spring I would have had to destroy it to get it off. Nice putter grips ain't cheap!😁
A one way chipper is a legal club. A two way chipper or one with a putting grip is illegal. Even if you are not playing in tournaments your informed buddies will call you on that.
@@beardplaysgolf I loved it! The fairways were very wet. I lost several drives in the fairway because they plugged. The greens were outstanding and the layout of the course is interesting and difficult! I was disappointed not to run into Rick! He must have been somewhere warm and dry! Next time I'm in the UK maybe!
Actually no one chose him. Even his own party chose someone else, a lettuce beat her, then once we threw her out rishi was the only person left in the political party left running. With no one else to vote for there was no vote and he was put in office. A truly unelected official
