What 'good' comes out of admitting you juiced? I don't see much of an 'upside'.

i dont care what he admits to. in the end MLB knew what was going on. and allowed it to happen. only the players got in trouble? why not the coaches? the owners? its bs. that only the players got in trouble. its bs that the entire MLB allowed and promoted knowing all along these guys were cheating. Just because it made mlb money it was ok. when it finally got public enough they feared backlash. they came down on the players. again not the real people who were running the show. f the mlb, and any other sports league. i hope one day soon they are all shut down.

A good contact hitter will only strike-out once per every 8 or 9 plate appearances. Tony Gwynn had 10,000 AB's in his career. He had 400 strike-outs. He was remarkable.

Absolutely...Sosa should be in the HOF "Steroids" is/was/forever will be a Red Herring. Created BY Baseball. And EVERY PLAYER (every) was juicing. But that IS what the Player's Union wanted...what the MLB Commish wanted...and what tbe Players...wanted. (remember: "Chicks Dig The Longball"?) So...WHO CARES if Sosa juiced. The game was LEVEL...because the PITCHERS were Juicing...too. (Post-Strike era...when everyone hated them all? Fans came out to (AFFORDABLE GAMES) then? In droves. What has occurred to Sosa/Sheffield/McGwire/Bonds/Clemens/Palmiero ? Since then? (And YES...even Canseco)...is a TRAVESTY. Baseball LOVES to Blacklist those that SAVED IT before (ask Satchel Paige, Clemente, Rose, Cobb, Hornsby)....before. And every name listed alongside Sosa, above. (It ain't hard to check for "corked bats". Nor is is "hard to DRUG TEST...every game. (If you must). But to Blacklist a player...who (along with Mark McGwire) SAVED Baseball...at a time when it was near-dead? Is WORSE than the way those MFers...have treated PETE ROSE. NEXT CASE

Sosa belongs in the HOF along with Clemens, McGwire, Palmerio, Schilling etc... I mean, juicing only helped their performance so much - sure you can blame juicing for some of their statistics, but it's NOT all the result of juicing - there is some talent there too. And look, you could make an argument that these guys were already HOF'ers before it was clear they were juicing... So yea, these guys belong in the HOF as well as Pete Rose... IMO, the only "dark spot" on the sport is the MLB Writers REFUSING to elect these guys to Cooperstown where they belong.... And you can bet there are plenty of players in the HOF that used something during their careers that helped them perform better on the field. I mean the guys in the 60's and 70's were popping "greenies" (amphetamines) yet no one criticizes them...

While i agree with 95% of what you said, at this point after over 10 years later, the legacy of the game is cemented. Changing it in the history books and stats just feels like putting a nice bow on it and continues the notion of everyone and anything can make a mistake and that MLB already has situations in the past where they have overturned a previous commissioners ruling. The most famous one that comes to mind is when they agreed that Maris had the HR record years after the then commissioner said the HR seasons would be split with asterisks. There is precedent, it wont negatively impact the legacy, and AG deserves it

I saw both Jones and Mays play. Jones is BY FAR the superior fielder. Now Mays was a great man. I saw him deal with evil with grace and elegance several times and will tell anyone he was a great person. But Jones' fielding was vastly superior. He had so much more range and was willing to throw himself into the effort much more freely - and successfully than Mays. I think the fielding stat being twice Mays' is probably about right. That being said he ain't gettin' in. He was never outspoken enough. He never received much media attention and when he did he was always understated and reserved. His personality will keep him out.

Because he's incredibly overrated. Bro is like hitting off BP in the show as well. He also stressed velo during a time when velo wasn't seen as the end all be all (as it shouldn't). Also has incredibly inflated stats due to playing for like three decades.

Here's a scoop for ya, I know who destroyed the boom box. One of my longtime friends styled the hair for the wife of a well known Cub's pitcher. She told my friend that her husband had smashed the box with "one of Sammy's practice bats." Who is it, I had asked my friend. "Her name is Sarah", was all he would tell me. My research then led me to the only person on the team that year with a with named Sarah, and his name was Kerry Wood.

This is why Griffey Jr was and sill is the best player of that era. It did it all on pure talent. Played the game the right way. Even with all his injuries. He could have used them as an excuse to get stronger. But he chose not to. And it got him a first ballot induction. He was 3 votes short of becoming the first player ever to be first round unanimous inductee. Wonder who those three idiots were?

It is hard to imagine anyone having a larger discrepancy between peak and valley. Rose like a rocket and plummeted like an anvil. Lesson to be taken away here: people like accountability. I've even thawed a bit on ARod and that was NOT on my lifetime bingo card. Continuing to deny and hide the obvious truth makes you hated and Sammy craves love. His pride is the one thing keeping him from the admiration he desires. That said, I was 11 in the summer of 98 and I'll always see him as a bit of a superhero, flaws and all.
