I didn't have a job, I didn't know anyone, I didn't speak English, and I was sharing a hostel room with 15 people when I landed in the big city. I was sleeping with my camera bag! 😄
After a few years of struggle, I managed to become a full-time freelance photographer and creative director doing what I love for a living. But in November 2023, I decided to move country again to keep growing creatively. Bali, Indonesia is home right now. 🌴

How do you make a living as a photographer in Bali? I've always been curious since the culture is different there, and people are not that interested in portraits, or photos.
I used to be the biggest Nikon fan boy than I made the difficult decision to switch to Sony about 13 years ago because I wanted a smaller lighter full frame camera I couldn't be happier with the A7RV and A7CR. I'm too invested in Sony now to ever switch again. Always love your videos your channel has grown so much with over 100K subs now congratulations!

I resided in 11 nations, traveled to 34 countries, and ended up moving to Valencia, Spain. I predict that you will eventually leave Bali, try another place, and end up back in Spain.
thanks for all these usefull tips ! ( i'm also real estate photographer ) , Damn Bali is soooo beautiful ! the problem i have ( when doing photos shooting and video ) it that i must do everything in 2 or 3 hours ! not easy to take my time and be creative ! do you use the HDR mode or multiples exposures ?
The blur radius scales with the resolution of your camera. So if 30 works for a 24MP sensor, then 30 x sqrt(2) = 42 would be the equivalent on a 48MP sensor.

i admire you ! i have friends in Bali , but never had a chance to go there. Maybe one day, because life in France become really hard.... and sometimes i'm tired about what people always critics, or think here. Bali is certainly the best place in the World, a really beautiful paradise. as graphic designer and photographer/videomaker ( into real estate ), i really want first to work for Myself. There many opportunity In Bali, there many local desainer or internasional desainer open store In Bali also In Java especially. You can open networking with cuisine shop or hotel. There many chances you can see In Indonesia, Indonesia is big you Will find many beautiful things here
I haven't been to Bali but I have lived abroad for a number of years and I know exactly what you are saying the UK can be a miserable place especially somewhere like London when it rains at least where I live has alot of country side , if I could do my job remotely I would do exactly what you have , your videos make anywhere you are beautiful 😍
Gracias for sharing this experience with us. I was in a similar situation. Moving from New Orleans to Houston because the cultural differences. Eventually after some soul searching and the key point you pointed, “have an open mind and kind this place a chance” things start to fall in place for you. Bali is such a special place to be in. Eventhough i live in SEA, in Brunei, i'd go back to Bali at least once or twice a year. Despite the negative comments about the over tourism and massive crowds, Bali is still Bali, the island of gods, it heals you and makes you happy.
Hm being a freelancer is tough…I prefer to be part-time employed (in germany). The safety of being employee is not so tough on my nerves as the risky freelancer life. The downside of course is that i am not very free
Being a freelancer is very tough indeed. There are always up and downs but I wouldn’t change it. I love it. I like to work in many different projects that create passive income so this gives me a safety net. But till I got there, it was stressful. 😅
