@TylerTheFieldServiceTech Did you go over the actual window tint allowable for your truck's license state, and what you where? Did you look up the state vehicle code to confirm the numbers. The thing that sticks out to me is that Window Tint can be measured in Transmittance which is the percentage of light passing through, or it can be measured in light filtered, which measures the light absorbed or reflected. You can get absorption, from transmittance, by subtracting it from 100. ie 100(total)-35 transmitted=65 absorbed. or vice versa, 100 = absorbed + transmitted. The video is rough, but that is a Laser Labs Enforcer II, which measures transmittance. The kit comes with reference samples that can be measured to verify the reading is calibrated. If they don't use them, the readings arent verifiable. Most States Allow a window tint exemption. The law applies from the state your vehicle is licensed in. For Colorado, the 2024 allowable tint on the front passenger vehicle windows is over 27% transmittance, and less than 35% reflective. That means you would be legal now, with your old tint. but, that isn't the only rule for Commercial Vehicles: According to FMCSA Quote:" May windshields and side windows be tinted? Section § 393.60: Glazing in specified openings. Guidance Q&A Question 1: May windshields and side windows be tinted? Guidance: Yes, as long as the light transmission is not restricted to less than 70 percent of normal (refer to the American Standards Association IE 70% VLST tint. "End Quote. § 393.60: (d) Coloring or tinting of windshields and windows. Coloring or tinting of windshields and the windows to the immediate right and left of the driver is allowed, provided the parallel luminous transmittance through the colored or tinted glazing is not less than 70 percent of the light at normal incidence in those portions of the windshield or windows which are marked as having a parallel luminous transmittance of not less than 70 percent. The transmittance restriction does not apply to other windows on the commercial motor vehicle.
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech Месяц назад
@FixItPleaseJ State rules don't matter with FMCSA. You must abide by FMCSA rules. Where it gets dumb is for example for FMCSA your rear windows can be litterally 0%. But for State it's 27% so then I would be in violation. You must weave between State and federal laws to stay compliant.

You would have a tough time finding a Blackhawk airframe in the civilian world. You basically can use your hours to test for your A&P if you have enough. Usually though addtional schooling is needed to get the requirements for your A&P testing. Once you get your A&P you can then start applying for jobs. Basically you would start all over in a sense. That's exactly why I didn't want to stick with aircraft in the civilian world too much work I felt. I went with heavy diesel and haven't looked back. That being said a lot of guys I served with work on the tech side of the national guard and reserve and have it made. That also gave them the stepping stones to get their A&P and go elsewhere if they chose.

I used to use the xtra hd tubes but couldn't find them for a couple years. It doesn't matter how much better it is if you cant find it. @TylerTheFieldServiceTech
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech Месяц назад
Mobile mechanics would probably be the better option. Home daily, much cheaper operating costs, and you work where you want. Honestly. I miss hotshot dearly, and one day, I'll probably go back when I'm older, and I don't wanna wrench anymore. But that's a hard ass life if you have a family. Doing your own thing for mobile would be good. You would basically be on call constantly, so you would be waiting for the phone to ring. Really, google advertising and you would be set and super busy making money equivalent to what you make now is where it could be tough, especially in the beginning. I think the freedom would be nice! A guy I know does mobile auto maintenance for cars. He basically does oil, brakes, suspension, and services. He does decent, but getting steady work is where it's hard. Good for a side gig, but he can't keep it steady. He has been doing it for about 2 years. He like converted half his garage into a parts warehouse. Got a small van and just does his thing.

@allanherrera9549 Месяц назад
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech thanks for take the time for request , and how you know price the jobs?, I know the prices form the shop where I work now, are super high, but being a mobil service that is going to be little bit cheaper?
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech Месяц назад
@allanherrera9549 I don't run my own truck. Most commonly though you just charge an hourly rate probably around 120-180 and a travel rate then you add a percentage on top of your part purchase cost. Mobile Service is usually more expensive than shop service. But you also have to be competitive and not be greedy. Getting your customers is the tough part. But If you can get in good with a company and basically bill them for a guaranteed hour amount per week plus parts you're set.

Your info is way off. G70 can be different WLL based on their diameter chain. You are judged on the lowest WLL of the set. If your chains are rated at 4700# and your binders are rated at 5400#. Your rating is based on the 4700 chain not the binder rating. (Your chains look like grade 43 but it’s tough to tell in the video. Grade 43 WLL match your statements of what your equipment is rated for. A lot of G70 is rated at 6600#) The 50% reduction is due to the fact that the restraining pressure of the binder is placed on one point of the trailer. Anything over 10,000# requires a minimum of 4 points (as close to the front and rear as possible) restraining at least 50% of the weight. With additional tiedowns required for accessories such as booms, loaders, blades etc.
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech 2 месяца назад
Maybe you need to try listening next time you watch the video. I specifically said 5/16" grade 70 was rated for 4700 WLL So your calibrated eye can see chain grade I guess??? 🤣🤣 It's G70 not G43 Rewatch the segment at two minutes in. I specifically say the binder would be 5400 but the tiedown is rated from the chain at 4700 lbs. And I also said the 4 point over 10k was needed. FYI attachments even under 10k need securement. So what exactly is off my guy you litterally typed exactly what I said and said I was wrong 🤣
@draymanil
@draymanil 2 месяца назад
@@TylerTheFieldServiceTechyou specifically said at 1:53 that the binder is reduced to 2700# because it’s tied down to a single point. The reality is the weakest point is the chain in the configuration you are showing meaning the single point weight rating is based on the 4700# chain not the 5400# binder. So the actual legal limit of that configuration is 2350# not 2700#. I’m just a guy with over 20 years of heavy haul experience so what do I know about load restraint 🤷‍♂️
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech
@TylerTheFieldServiceTech 2 месяца назад
@draymanil Pulled it straight from the manual. Yes I was incorrect not accounting for the chain difference Minimum Working Load Limit for Cargo Securement Devices and Systems The aggregate working load limit of any securement system used to secure an article or group of articles against movement must be at least one-half the weight of the article or group of articles. The aggregate working load limit is the sum of: One-half the working load limit of each tiedown that goes from an anchor point on the vehicle to an attachment point on an article of cargo; and The working load limit for each tiedown that goes from an anchor point on the vehicle, through, over or around the cargo and then attaches to another anchor point on the vehicle.
