Like all StillDragon products and appliances, this setup looks bloody amazing. Sexy even. However, I've got to add that 16 plates is absolute overkill just to produce neutral spirit at around 95% ABV (even if it is for fuel). With this setup not being modular, there's not much else it could produce. A simple SPP packed column of sufficient length would provide similar results (I'm commenting from experience, not bravado). I'll reiterate - StillDragon equipment is sexy AF, and I would sell one of my kidneys to own a modular system. One day... 🙂
It's not available as shown, but you can build it. More details can be found in our community forum at www.StillDragon.org where you can also find links to the distributor websites at the top for checking products and prices.
The plated column helps compress the heads. Getting rid of the heads is something for later, when doing the separation by nosing. What temp are you running the still at from start to finish. Do you just set the voltage to an amount where the still temp reaches like 70 degrees or something? how do you know when to turn up power as well?
Something like this is better asked at our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org because our community members do not participate here in RU-vid comments. Please have a look and you will find a lifetime of reading material there. 😉

What temperature water do you recommend (input wise) for the final condenser and the dephlegmator? Is anything below the top column temp ok or does it need to be colder?
The answer to this is as cold as possible, because you need to cool down hot vapor so that it liquefies again. But please be aware that our community members do not participate here in RU-vid comments, so please have a look at our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org for all the information.

I personally do not buy into this bullshit of bagging people or innovators like the Crystal Dragon Community. Good on to them. As I see it they offer a different path for the people who follow the craft to follow. Weather you run an old pressure cooker and a copper tail in a bucket or you have a really flashy set up the goal is the same. We are all CHASERS OF THE CRAFT and are brothers. Fortunate for us we live where this is legal. Share the information and welcome us aboard we are all mates here.
Not sure what you mean by that. It's not the Crystal Dragon™ Community but StillDragon® Community, and something like this was a real innovation as it brought industrial reflux technology down to modular DIY tech. It's not a different path, but made it accessible even for those not able to work with raw materials, but more something like LEGO for distillers. Please have a look at our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org where you will find a vast amount of information about the "StillDragon® Way Of Doing Things" and distilling in general.
@@smartypants5036 It's not overpriced at all and it's not just some random merch from China. You can ask actual users about it, for example the following comment has just been made recently: www.stilldragon.org/discussion/comment/68106/#Comment_68106 Just because something is made in China doesn't mean it's "cheap" or that you are better off by buying a knock-off from a copy-cat.

Nice. Instead of stainless wool how about SPP . It is a poor mans bubble plate and works very well in packed columns. I am new to the game and have a Boka re-flux column, got to start somewhere, but SPP is a game changer.
Of course SPP is a valid option, have a look at the following tag search: www.stilldragon.org/discussions/tagged/packing Please be aware that our StillDragon® Community members do not participate here in RU-vid comments. Have a look at our forum for more information and discussions.
That video is more than 7 years old and was shot on an even older phone by an amateur, so... Please visit our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org for more information.
A lot of fancy equipment that most of us home distillers can't even recognize, no explanation of the equipment or process, what's happening or what SHOULD be happening and no idea what results to expect. Thanks for wasting eight minutes of my day.
These are early demonstration videos when all of this was a novelty to the home distilling scene. None of this was meant as instructions or tutorials. As the title says, this was a test run, and the idea to be able to easily swap baskets was meant for larger setups (that basket kit is in use in larger installations as well, for example inline with a 500L boiler). The main purpose of the dephlegmator in this setup is to be able to swap the content of the gin basket without shutting down the run. yer, ok, its all very sexy n all, (expensive as well no doubt) but my 1.2 meter copper reflux pipe full of steel wool runs the same % and flow rate.. as far as showing off coolness to visitors goes 100% though.
StillDragon® equipment isn't that expensive considering what you get (you can check on the website of the StillDragon® distributor responsible for your location). +1 for the coolness factor :) Please have a look at our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org for more information, because our community members do not participate here in RU-vid comments.

my brother is into thermal engineering- he politely suggest you insulate the column and he is estimating depending on the insulation up to a 30 faster operation time-- im learning this stuff too...lol
Obviously that appliance is not about the best possible efficiency, because isolating a glass column removes the purpose of that design (to be able to see what's going on on the inside). The thick glass made of borosilicate is quite a good isolator, so it's good for a typical appliance with less bubble sections. What is distinguish between Moonshine | Ambler & StillDragon distillery, 1st thing I seen from top side some transparent liquid is coming & slowly it's going to till bottom plate, but ? I wasn't sure it is evaporate alcohol whether water coming by up site pipe ? what is the purpose of this new kind of distillery & what is the price for this, and I know yr community isn't participate for this, I'll will visit at yr forums.
What you see here is called a reflux still (the liquid from above going down is the reflux). This principle allows to increase the purification process by the number of plates compared to a simple pot still. There you will also find the link to your closest StillDragon® Distributor, where you can check prices and what is all possible with this kind of modular equipment.
