my brother is into thermal engineering- he politely suggest you insulate the column and he is estimating depending on the insulation up to a 30 faster operation time-- im learning this stuff too...lol
@StillDragonORG

Obviously that appliance is not about the best possible efficiency, because isolating a glass column removes the purpose of that design (to be able to see what's going on on the inside). The thick glass made of borosilicate is quite a good isolator, so it's good for a typical appliance with less bubble sections. Please be aware that our community members do not participate here in RU-vid comments, so have a look at our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org for more info, feedback and discussions.

@@StillDragonORG do you guys make a 3" bubble plate with procaps?
@StillDragonORG
@StillDragonORG 4 года назад
@@stephanimbeault2140 a 3" bubble plate is an uncommon size which is why 3" columns are not part of the StillDragon® lineup, so no, there is no 3" plate, it's either 2.5" (as in Baby Crystal Dragon™) or 4" (Dash™ or Crystal Dragon™). But as said, I'm only the site & social media administrator and neither our community members nor the StillDragon® distributors participate here on RU-vid comments, so please have a look at the StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org for any more info and inquiries, you will also find the links to the websites of the three StillDragon® distributors there at the top.

Such a setup can not really be compared with a T500. Forum member @captainshooch is showing quite an unusual setup in this video, usually you do not go for such a high column. Please have a look at the following forum discussion for more details: www.stilldragon.org/discussion/240/4-crystal-dragon

What is distinguish between Moonshine | Ambler & StillDragon distillery, 1st thing I seen from top side some transparent liquid is coming & slowly it's going to till bottom plate, but ? I wasn't sure it is evaporate alcohol whether water coming by up site pipe ? what is the purpose of this new kind of distillery & what is the price for this, and I know yr community isn't participate for this, I'll will visit at yr forums.

What you see here is called a reflux still (the liquid from above going down is the reflux). This principle allows to increase the purification process by the number of plates compared to a simple pot still. Please visit our StillDragon® Community Forum at www.StillDragon.org for more information. There you will also find the link to your closest StillDragon® Distributor, where you can check prices and what is all possible with this kind of modular equipment.

WOW,,, are you not worried that the glass rings will bend and crack with that many in it , I have been thinking about a glass column, but am worried even at 4 rings, the rest of the head parts would be too much strain on the glass column.
@StillDragonORG
@StillDragonORG 5 лет назад
Obviously not a problem at all, these glass cylinders are massive, made of heat resistant thick borosilicate glass. Yeah - these are thick borosilicate sections & the silicon gaskets help distribute weight stress, but I'd strongly prefer to see a transition plate every 5-6 plates. Why install 8x fully threaded stainless rods just to support the top+dephleg ? Either lose the excess threads or use them to distribute the forces.

Hi, I have(a few) question(s). What do you mean with compressed? I want to start bubblecaps but here in Europe i cant seem to find al lot of information about it. How do keep the still compressed? Do you only fill the first bubblecap with lows and When you "compress" you wait untill the rest is filled? Cant you just fill all of them with lows and starte right away?

That's the point of reflux, what's not pulled drops back down the column. It fills the top plate then overflows to the next and next on the way down

Like all StillDragon products and appliances, this setup looks bloody amazing. Sexy even. However, I've got to add that 16 plates is absolute overkill just to produce neutral spirit at around 95% ABV (even if it is for fuel). With this setup not being modular, there's not much else it could produce. A simple SPP packed column of sufficient length would provide similar results (I'm commenting from experience, not bravado). I'll reiterate - StillDragon equipment is sexy AF, and I would sell one of my kidneys to own a modular system. One day... 🙂
