Not the shred i was expecting, but still sick! Love this mix where you can hear some of the bass overtones ripping through. Rewatching, its specifically every time you hit that second string (i wont assume its an A string)
Everyone has a different definition of shred, all are great! Haha thanks dude! This is just a fun song to play. Sadly in the final mix bass will be down ever so slightly to balance for vocals, but I’ll do my best to keep the bass upfront!

just finished. dude there's SO FUCKING MUCH to it. omg. i always thought i put too much shit in my songs, layers and layers of stuff to get the right feel and sometimes i think "ITS JUST TOO MUCH, LUCAS, MAKE IT SIMPLER". But to know you guys do that too makes me feel good about myself hahahaha. now i want to go into the studio and record stuff. cant though, gotta study :( hahahahaha. PS: doesnt it make you feel overwhelmed when you have to put that much work into a WHOLE album? its like my ears and brain will explode.
Haha yep, it’s a TON of layers. We just get to the vocal/post production sessions and just have a time! So much stuff actually gets deleted. We try some crazy stuff and then when we find a sound that beats it, making that decision to delete is a hard one. Takes some real discipline. Honestly keeping things more simple is always a better move. You’re able to push things up in the mix more, but then you have to treat them to take up more space with depth.
@@Trootsbloxplayzthemetalfan awesome! I made these with out an “amp” so the HX effects users could use them as well. So might be cool to add an amp to this chain! Something to try and inspire new sounds from this preset.
Thanks so much! Is one of those things that they don’t tell you. We all love a good stereo sound, so it’s tempting to put stereo EVERYTHING. But that amp just collapses that signal right back down to mono. Glad that video showed some light on the subject for ya! Thanks for watching!
I try my best to make these patches with no “amp” in the chain. This way HX effects users can grab these presets as well. However there may be one or two in this collection that won’t work. But most will!

I have not had much experience with them. You know us guitar players…we find something that works and sometimes have a hard time trying new. But now is the time to try!

You should consider stripping these back for the HX Effects, without the amp modeling but just all of the time-based effects. If you don't have an HX Effects unit, I'd be willing to help with that job. You've got some really cool tones going on here!
Hey I want the preset but I need the one with the stereo R&L going to front of house that does include the dry in there. But need a line to my power cab plus for my own monitor. Please help.
This is a tough question. In my opinion dialing in guitars sounds on headphones can sometimes lie to you. It may sound like a dream in your headphones and then you get to the gig and you wonder “what happened!?”. Ultimately I would recommend some sort of speaker. Headrush makes a great FRFR speaker. But you can use almost any headphone if you learn the “errors” in whatever headphones you go with.
@@ChadoFax Caused some clipping through my PA speaker. Had to turn them down a touch. Well worth the price though, cheers for not pulling the piss price wise. Ledg
One thing I always suggest is make sure your helix is not sending “line” level. It’s in global settings. I run mine “isnt” and “mic”. It gives you way more headroom on your PA gain input. Just a suggestion.
Thanks so much!! So my main amps are Helix. I recently added in the UA lion and UA Ruby pedal and then the helix for switching and effects. Just totally different textures for amps. I stopped using plugins a while ago. There are some great companies, but I personally like the sound of my Apollo preamps going into the DAW. Harder to do that with plugins. That’s just my process though.
I love what you do. I just got turned on to this kind of application of bass by John Davis of Nerve in a Scott’s Bass Lessons course on electronic music from a bass players perspective. I’m going to check out more of your videos. You’re obviously a master of this genre. Thank you !!!
Yo what’s interesting is how it actually makes the Helix effects shine more. I’m no scientist or specialist with digital algorithms they use, but maybe there is something there that “smears” the effects slightly when using Helix amps and IRs. It’s not a bad sound at all, it’s just a specific to Line 6. Having “amp pedals” that their soul purpose is making the ONE amp sound amazing allows the amp quality to shine more with UA. Especially with the early/mid break up sound. The Helix is still undefeated for HEAVY high gain /metal tones though.
@@ChadoFax Hiya, thanks for the feedback, I hadn't considered it from that perspective! Agreed, it sounds amazing yet different. What matters is the music that's written with those tools! True, hard rock and metal are great with the helix.
You’re 100% correct. All that matters is what you paint with these colors. A good artist will always make something great. So it’s not in the tools. It’s in the inspiration of the artist i.e. you! So for the time being, I’m inspired by these UA pedals to paint and create.
