My ex sent me this song 13 years ago. I sang it thinking it was just a cool song. He was trying to tell me something but couldn’t express it. I stayed with him and it got worse . Now hearing it 13 years later , i know now he was trying to break up with me but couldn’t find the words. The poem at the end speaks volumes. Thank you Kdot.
I find it funny to see that there are people taking one line from this and saying Kendrick sold out for having a beef when this is the same guy who made an 18 track rap album about having a family and going to therapy. He's been rapping about "life" for his entire career and when he finally got into a beef, he turned that around into a way to highlight West coast culture. But that's all I'm gonna say, I know we live in a world where people will disregard anything you say and write it off as "glazing" or whatever.
This song was made for everyone here talking about the “beef”. It shows you just don’t know Kendrick, let alone yourself. Sad that Kendrick said fuck beefing over a verse and years later he’s a hypocrite - my guess is due to an outside source of the financial kind- Anyways for all you Gen Z newbies, stop worrying about two grown men arguing like children and letting them make money off you. Go listen to real music with real messages and take care of yourself. OD, Section 80, GOOD KID those are real Kendrick, and a good place to start. It’s time to grow up and be smarter and more aware about ourselves and our surroundings!
Kendrick dissed drake and bunch of other rappers and drake back in 2013 on control. I interpret this part as condemnation of disses between gangs while because of this split of black society between meaningless colors they kill each other. I might be wrong tho, I'm a white boy and I didn't dive to hard into lyrics, I'm not sure about being right but you're sure wrong.
“He told me rap about life not rap niggas Thats why Im smh when you rap dissing… We used to beef over turf FUCK beefing over a verse niggas dying” Listening to it now get a whole new meaning, Damn kendrick really fell off.
Nigga he got called out that’s why he dropped a diss. But his unc talkin bout being a trap nigga that being dissing his dead ops he talking bout keeping it rap what he is doing now and not just a street nigga that raps.
@@Kinesis327 you got it very wrong my friend. Im not a drake or kendrick fan. Both have great songs and both are cringe as a person. And I think Kendrick won the beef. But, you cant listen to this old masterpiece and not think twice about what happened now. Or you are just an average kendrick stan.
He should make a true heart part 6, not ass a diss or anything just good music. I think this would be a good time and you know its going to be fantastic cause its written by the king kenny, one of my favorite rap artist. Thats the difference betweeen him and drake, drakes a rapper but kendrick is an artist.
This was my fav song walking to my bus stop as a 6th grader, 26 now and I still listen to it like it just dropped, thank you Kendrick, like fr thank you ❤
Crazy how this still goes this hard! I remember Kdot being one of the first artists that i was able to put my oldest brother on (it's a huge personal accomplishment being the youngest) and from there on he was bumping everything from this legendary artist. We had a lot memories to this whole album from start to finish. Unfortunately my brother died about 8 years ago and the intro speaks to me as the years go on fr. Music and my son are the things that keep me going ✊🏾
He was talking bout you cus you like half these cats that just don’t know Kendrick, guessing you don’t know yourself either. Get outta here with that fake for profit “beef” and go listen to real Kendrick like OD Section 80 and GOOD KID
Young Kendrick seemed pretty wise though😅 My uncle doing life inside prison; he wasn't wrapped too tight He told me "Rap about life, not rap niggas" That's why I'm shaking my head when you rap-dissin' .. We used to beefing over turf, fuck beefing over a verse
Bro this bar just randomly popped in my head and made the connection… I have a feeling Drakes disses are going to Age way better than people are giving it credit for
Man dude i haven't heard this song in so long!!! I remember when i found kendrick lamar's music back in summer 2013 and i would go to frostwire to download all of his music during that time and remember this song but forgot the name of it. But here i am 2024 remembering this gem. Time sure has gone by and his music has always got me thru tough times and blessed to see him perform twice!
@@definitelynotlebronjames443try listening again with a different perspective bro. In my opinion that was his second best album behind tpab. It was a real therapy session, kinda like looking in the mirror and seeing our deepest wounds as black ppl in America. Admitting his mistakes as a man while helping me realize mine. There's a lot of layers to that album
whenever life‘s getting too much in my head i come back here. been years since i first discovered this song, mom had cancer. now, years after, still listening to it giving me strwnght
For all the men out there if your girl is doing all the signs from the first verse you got a real one! Its rare but real love exists and sometimes you gotta realize it smacking you in the face! Theres not always a piano waiting to fall on your head!
