After decades of poor short putting with stiff wrists I found in practice that by softening the wrists and RELEASING the putter one putts much better. The reason is with stiff wrists every mistake from above changes the blade angle. But RELEASING the wrists mistakes from above are ignored by the blade. The putter blade is on it's own. You start out the practice session making the putts instead on waiting for timing to do it. Timing in practice is your worst enemy. It gives you a false sense of ability.
Thanks. Your instructions have significantly improved my performance and enjoyment of the game of golf. I was looking for this precise instruction regarding the position of the right arm during the forward swing to have the hands arrive off the right thigh as I enter the impact zone-club parallel to the ground to improve impact. Too frequently, my hands have been 3-4 inches behind my right thigh instead of even with it.
Superb! This video s not really about the pressure plate. The plate is a useful tool and that's good. But Rob really explains the difference between weight and pressure very well, and more so, the issue of weight and its influence on CONTACT (and speed/distance). And that is important!
Good instruction, very good advice, with all due respect and i mean that, hogans power begins at the top of his back swing, if you watch closely to all of those old videos you will notice his right hip starts to turn to the left before any thing else, that is the snapping of the whip. Put that together with what you are teaching here and in my opinion you got something. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I'm shocked how many people are watching your videos, Robs, and how few are liking them. What's wrong with you people out there? These are FANTASTIC drills !!!!!!!
Very enlightening! I'm not quite clear on why turning your head would give you a longer backswing since the head can be moved independently of the rest of the spine, and through a wider angle. I can turn my shoulders as I want and yet still keep my head facing the ball. I've also read that Jack Nicklaus was left eye dominant and that he was turning his head like that to keep his non-dominant eye from seeing the ball.
Is it wrong that I use my pitching wedge for a 130-140 yard shot? Is it still a pitch shot or is it more of a standard iron swing? I play it like standard iron essentially
Man I’ve been playing golf since 2004 and my game sucks horrible slice with every club. The strange thing I just discovered this be for watching your video and you confirmed through your explanation I now understand what I was doing wrong all my life you are the best and the rest are cr*ap❤❤❤❤
very informative just 1 question to get 39 degrees shoulder tilt at impact do i drive my right shoulder down hard not just expecting it to go there automatically i also straighten my left leg in the downswing and never drive my right right leg with this combination of movements i never get shaft lean and almost always hit the ground first what do i change consciously in those predescribed moves just add more conscious right shoulder tilt and leave everything else alone tks for you insightful information me snd my friends are having such a miserable time about to wslk away from the game that offers so many great experiences if one can only make good contact tks
Wow Rob! I'm a new convert to this swing, and this drill is incredible. It teaches you in a way that watching a video or listening to an instructor doesn't quite reach. I've been practicing this over and over again, and then I'll film myself doing it. It's so satisfying hearing the click of the two alignment sticks touching. Thank you for this! You have a new subscriber.
How are you not on tour I just watched this before my round of golf now my score was absolutely garbage ! But I don't care it was rotten cos my 8iron went 215 yards into the lake I was playing well short of with my normal golf (and that was my round too long !!!!) I did thin a fair few but even the thin shots were epic 😎 if I wasn't married bro 😂😂😂😂 absolute legend of a golf teacher 🎉
Rob, I've watched so many RU-vid videos on golf. None have helped me improve my game as much as your videos. You're the best golf instructor on RU-vid. I watched this video and without much practice before my league round last night, I added 25 yards on my drive INTO a stiff wind, hit my 3 wood on and made the putt for an eagle! You're the best!
On the follow through, when you mention that the right arm should be in line with the grid line, are you consciously using or making your right arm come in like that, or should the left arm pull allow that to occur. I can't seem to get my arms to finish low and to the left. Any suggestions? Thank you!
You know, it's funny. I went to look into golftec. As an authorized golfing machine instructor, i was disappointed to be told that there'd be no tgm taught at that facility 🙄. My first response was "it already is." Stack and tilt.. It's in edition 7.2, chap 2-H.
1 fault I see in the box behind the Divot Board is that the box is now sitting lower than the ball as opposed to when the box is sitting on the at the same level as the ball as well as being the same distance behind the ball, i.e. 1 golf club grip length. It doesn't sound like much of a difference but the Divot Board sits 26 32nds of an inch high above the surface it is sitting on. A golf ball box 1 ⅝ inches high or wide. Or 52 32nds inches. This suddenly changes the box height by 50% & it's possible intrusion into the path of the golf swing.
Thanks for this video, Rob. The funny thing is I was stack and tilting in my twenties ( I'm 60 now ) and my golf pro told me I needed to shift my weight. Eventually I started hitting the ball well, but it took quite a while and I lost yards! I tried the stack and tilt yesterday and had good results. The only thing I really struggled with was the transition through impact. My irons had a habit of going left in addition to a draw, so my shots to the green left me putts that were longer than I would have liked. I'm sure I will figure it out on the range. I hope!
Great lesson! Purchased a divot board and although I’m keeping my weight forward and arms straight my divots start behind the ball. Any suggestions? Thank you for your wonderful lessons! Ed
These drills were so helpful! I typically have a BIG push slice, but I spent 20 mins slowly working through the “Bryson” & “Justin Rose” drill with the noodle set up. Next day, I went out to the range and first ball off the tee was a beautiful draw. Not everything was perfect, especially as my range time progressed, some of the old habits definitely came back, but these drills provided some immediate help. I’m excited to keep working and seeing some better ball shape.
If you start the backswing with the weight 50:50 and try. to keep it that way, you will automatically move your hips a little toward the target when the club moves back in the takeaway, (which is a movement of a small amount to mass ( the arms and the club) behind the address position. )So if you try to maintain the address 50:50 weight distribution, you body will automatically move left a little to off set the club going in the opposite direction in the takeaway. All it takes is awareness of trying to maintain 50:50 balance condition during the takeaway
I'm right-eye dominant and have such a problem with seeing the line. I putt almost all puts to the left of the hole. Will this technique help with this problem?
My precision golf aid just arrived and I’m sure it’s going to be beneficial for every aspect of my golf especially for early extension, shaft lean and lower body having to move forward and around properly. Thank you for promoting this training aid Rob.
