No movement defines the game of golf more than the movement of TILTING. So why does the word TILT or TILTING have such a negative and is avoided in many golf instruction videos and teachings?
Golf is played with the ball on the ground and the golfer standing to the side of the ball. To reach the ball, you must bend forwards towards the ground. The angle you create in your spine by bending forwards is the "inclination to the ground" that all great golfers maintain throughout the swing. To maintain this inclination to the ground as you swing, you simply MUST TILT on both the backswing AND the follow-through.
This seemingly simple task proves to be anything but simply for the masses of golfers who regularly struggle to make consistent contact. Many golfers are NEVER told to tilt or shown the importance of it. Yet, with some simple instructions and this game-changing drill, you can be tilting like a pro in no time at all!
The HEAD ON THE WALL drill is the perfect way to learn HOW to TILT, and HOW MUCH to TILT and can be a benefit to golfers of all abilities and skill levels, from complete beginner, to tour professional, and everyone else in between.

Rob, IMHO, your the best and simplest golf instructor I have gone through viewing in you tube. As a beginner, I have learned a lot of the very basics of golf demonstrated in the simplest way!. Thank you for sharing and hope to learn more. 👍👍👍

Rob... thanks a ton for your lessons ...I would like to tell you non of the coaches have ever taught these secrets to improve the game. In the end they only confuse you. All good wishes 🙏

Great insight as always Rob! Two things I've done to ensure I'm getting proper tilt and staying centered, hope it helps others based on your videos. 1. Over exaggerating my hip turn on the back swing. After watching my videos I noticed my leg was still bent so I really focused on getting that deep turn, and that massively improved my tilt too as a result. RECORD YOUR SWING! 2. At the range I use my golf bag and driver. Pulling the driver out enough(with the head cover on) wear it barely touches my head then use that for my centering. Just doing those half shots that you showed. Use what you have! Happy Masters!

So easy to do but so easy to forget to implement, I think an important point to make is also to make sure on both back & forward swing is the movement of the knees, if you don’t flex your knees towards the ball it’s very difficult to point your shoulders at the ball ⛳️
@davee3951
@davee3951 Год назад
This is a great point Graham. I noticed this morning, how much better my knee action and turn was when doing or visualizing this great drill. My turn has been getting much shorter, because of a tendency to restrict the unflexing of both knees. You become a lot more aware of what the knees have to do, when doing this drill correctly. Not allowing the trail knee or lead knee, to lose some of it's flex during the backswing and downswing restricts the turn both ways and puts to much pressure on the back.

They’re overdoing it on the tilt now. Not saying no to tilt but Marcus Neiman and sam Bennett are 2 examples of over doing it. Will zalatoris is an example of the injuries

Great as always Rob. I only got better after incorporating this move, not only that, but I 'm 62, and I hit it farther than when I was 32.

I like to use a bathtub and shower curtain, instead of a wall for this drill. This comes closer to the light touch, on the forehead, that you get with the noodle drill. The tub and shower curtain, are always there, and make it easy to practice setting up square and shoulder tilt at the same time. No setup is required, so I tend to use it more often. The forehead has lots of proprioceptors, so it is very easy to feel what the head is doing by doing the drill this way. This also works well as an image to invoke when playing or practicing at the driving range.

Can you make a video about how the pelvis tilt during setup? Should it be tuck in so our body closer to the ball or what should we do about the pelvis tilt ? Thanks a lot

I used to set up a noodle station with my bag and I could overhear people say it looks dumb. I say I may look dumb on the range but I'm a scratch on the course. That 2 under on my card looks good.

Hey Rob - This video is timely. I need to come back to this drill as I’ve abandoned it over the past year and my tilt on the follow through is inconsistent. When I set up the plane station, how much pressure should I be putting against the noodle? Is it literally there to just remind me to keep my head in the right position or do I want a bit of pressure against the noodle? Thanks!

The tilt allows the club to be on a more vertical arc, instead of a more rounded arc.

You didn't mention shoulder tilt during setup. It's my understanding you should tilt your spine angle away from the target at setup. The shoulders should rotate approximately 90 degrees while maintaining the spine tilt at your setup. Please comment.

Im a new golfer and noticed that seniors and other casual players who have been playing for years have terrible swings but consistently score low 90s (good enough for casual play)…. like if thst’s the case is it even worth learning a picture perfect swing?? Though it took them YEARS to be consistent with their swing, will a good swing accelerate my learning and reaching that kind of score? I shoot in the 120s 😂😂😂
@waxman9550
@waxman9550 Год назад
Honestly if you have some good fundamentals and go the range three days a week and practice chipping and putting - you can start breaking 90 if that's what your shooting for. If your trying to shoot legit par - you better have a good swing and practice your everyday.
