Vervet Monkey Foundation's Vervet Forest - A weekly show about the Vervet monkeys and the foster mother program here at the Vervet Monkey Foundation in South Africa.
New Vervet Forest episodes every Thursday with the special member release on Wednesday, sometimes a live stream on Saturday morning of the orphaned babies and how they getting on through the year
Every year the VMF rescues dozens of orphaned baby Vervet monkeys and rehabilitates them through their very unique foster monkey mother program. I give you an inside look into the foster program and the lives of the individuals who are changed by it. Every once in a while I'll also throw in some other video about the other happenings here at the sanctuary.
The goal of the Vervet Forest project is to create a several hundred-acre wildlife reserve for Vervet monkeys in South Africa. For more information about volunteering visit - www.vervet.za.org and to learn more about the forest visit - TheVervetForest.com/forest
This is the one of the few monkey channels that is actually showing the way that animals should be treated and taught to be as wild as possible and live out their lives in peace.
I can't believe I missed my monkey Thursday😮 Never gets old watching the babies pair up with their mommas and being released back into the wild💘 I have a question, is Acorn pregnant? If she is not, she sure looks it😊. I think Phoebe's going to make a wonderful momma when the time is right for her❤ "Thank-You VMF, and all you volunteer❣️"🥰
Thanks for the video! It was fun watching Acorn go out with Trixi and Harris and then watching the other monkeys be so excited about the little ones and wanting to hug them. They are all so loving to each other. I found this so enjoyable, I am still smiling 😊❤
Absolutely beautiful and informative! And a challenge to all of humanity. All of our animals deserve this. We deserve this. Earth, deserves this from us. She’s given her whole Being to us, for us.
Acorn is such a wonderful mother and the little ones sure took to her quickly! It’s always such a beautiful thing to see these little ones get another chance! Thanks to the VMF for all you do! ❤
No matter how many times I watch these little ones join the troop with their foster Moms, I remain amazed and joyful. Imagine such intelligence and caring to adopt and care for an orphaned baby who is essentially a stranger to these females. It’s beautiful and wondrous to see. ❤️🌹❤️
Hi, good people. The last I remember about Acorn is that she was sitting on babies! It looks to me that you've been doing some serious behavior modification! Hugs from Carolyn in Charlottesville.
I feel like nobody wants to tell his story because its not theirs to tell and they would feel disloyal to Prince Bless (but I would still like to know)
They may not know themselves. A lot of the time, the volunteers who pick up these babies get them from other humans who or may not be telling the truth. And some like Gimli and Prince can have what happened to affect them badly. Gimli seems to be happy however after getting a new mom, which turns out, that’s all he really wanted. Poor Prince though, finger sucking in non-human primates is extremely post traumatic behavior.
The more you know, the more you realize the George Galloway is wrong: “The Sabra and Shatila massacre was the 16-18 September 1982 killing of between 1,300 and 3,500 civilians-mostly Palestinians and Lebanese Shias-in the city of Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War. It was perpetrated by the Lebanese Forces, one of the main Christian militias in Lebanon, and supported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that had surrounded Beirut's Sabra neighbourhood and the adjacent Shatila refugee camp.” The PLO should not have murdered Israelis and Lebanese Christians. Why? Because, when the war starts, all bets are off as to how the victors in the war will treats your civilians. See how the Soviets treated German civilians when the Soviets were winning WWII.
Are the bandits desensitized to humans? They don't seem super afraid of you. Though no where near tamed lol Seems to be a lot more of them around then used to be.
They are what is termed “habituated” meaning they are used to human proximity, but they are still very much wild animals and will still react as such when threatened or harassed. Basically as long as you don’t bother them they won’t bother you. 😎🐒
