Truthfully no they are not actually better. Especially in higher definition. A lot of scenes that were cut and cut for good reason are in there and look horrible in blu ray quality. I mean, did you see that Isildur death scene? Shit was ass. Not to mention having the movie split up into two parts each fucks with the flow of the movie.
Remember when a movie had An easy to follow motivation A clear set if characters and easy to follow world they lived in A clear set of rules in that world Take MI the first movie The team need to protect a mugguffin The thing is stolen and most characters are killed Our hero needs to put the events back together He’s pulled into a conspiracy He takes on the conspiracy to expose the conspiracy The team can’t trust anyone ~ rules Caper Expose the conspiracy while being part of a conspiracy Action ~ rule Confrontation ~ rule Boss fight Climax happy ever after
I dont know how many times i`ve falled asleep to this ...... BUT Who the hell robs their own house for plot related reasons ? John Cleese, until the film says otherwise . ..... ..... sounds good ?
lol... the concept of all this action to obtain something that might or might not be genuine to do something or nothing to something no one knows what it is and work on the premise akin to a kindergarten feud is so hilarious. I really wish it will turned out that the key is to some sheikh wife's chastity belt.
I just checked out the M4 edit, and it really goes to show that there's good stuff in the trilogy, it just shouldn't have been a trilogy. Thanks for recommending it, as now it's my go to version of the Hobbit.
I like to think that Gimli is so afraid of Giladrial before seeing her in person is because all he knows of her is stories of her from the Rings of Power show, thinking that she is overly angry and aggressive with resting bitch face unless on horseback or looking into Sauran's eyes. Then when he sees that she has chilled out a bit and in a dress on, he was able to form a new opinion of her.
They are not referred to as "hobbits" for the simple reason that the word had not been invented yet. Possibly "harfoots" is also wrong. But if you're going to complain, you should at least know your lore.
I'm currently reading the book, having never seen the films. It's funny how a lot of your problems come from the book being aimed more at children (thus taking time to wander, or allowing for weird contrivances), but there's a lot of stuff added that you also hate.
I think the stupidest part of the troll scene is that Galadriel would 100% be powerful enough to go against it. It's all about framing is the issue. From the outset they characterized her completely wrong so of course they would do that scene wrong. While she obviously isn't at the height of her power in this show. There is a reason she is the greatest of the elves by the time of the lord of the rings and not because of her fighting skills. Galadriel gets most of her fame and power directly from the Valar. She possesses abilities that are less tangible and harder to conceptualize. Magic is largely a word used in the lord of the rings to describe things that men don't understand. Gandalf and the rest of the wizards had basically a limiters on their abilities. With the theory being that it was done this way so they would still be able to influence things but to avoid them becoming like Sauron. Galadriel did not have this limiter. It's why it's hotly debated who is "technically" stronger between Galadriel and Gandalf. Gandalf is the more powerful being but not as the wizard. The problem is that the writers of this show would take that topic at face value. When we say "stronger". They think more traditional magic and strength when it's far from that.
From what I remember from reading the books years ago... Sauron first posed as Necromancer because Witch King was known as The Necromancer, therefore he was pretending to be his underling and avoiding detection. And this rouse worked, because Witch King was an entity that just was there from time to time. As for Mordor, it was more or less always an Orc land, tho black gate and Minas Ithil (Morgul) were originally Gondor in orgin, being two strongholds meant to keep random warbands at bay, as well as keep watch over Mordor in case Sauron returned. That's why Sauron haven't returned until he found a trail towards the One Ring. Also, Movie doesn't make Minas Ithil justice, as it was a sister city to Minas Tirith, and therefore should be just as big. It was also known as the more beautiful one, before being corrupted by Wraiths. Also, there is a problem with elven rings in this movie. Random orc should never be able to simply see it, they were enchanted to be hidden to anyone but other ring wearers. That's why Frodo could even see it on Galadriel's finger when she revealed it(Sam just saw a star like light), but despite that he never noticed Gandalf's or Elrond's rings. That's just not how rings worked, even in LoTR movies.
Fallout was peak Mission Impossible! This really makes the Ocean’s 12 mistake of believing its own smugness is its strength - needlessly complicated and really a chore to sit thru! Video was 🔥 tho
This playlist has been my comfort watch this week after I hurt my foot a bit.... not as bad as Nori's dad, but then again, I'm not a moron... I truly hope you put out a Season 2 promo reaction ;)
1:20 If they had the fire be warm, but not searing it COULD work, Good fire is warm and life-giving, bad fire is either frigid or searing without the positives. (Though in the books even Mt Doom threw up volcanic ash that was actually wonderful for growing crops, letting Sauron feed hordes of orcs, pr possibly feed swine or cattle to feed to the orcs who do seem to favor flesh.)
Arguably the best film I ever saw in cinema. The experience blew me away. The sound design more so than the visuals even for me. It's a pure cinema film. And I agree it's not a good sequel at all. It's not even in my top 10 films. Buts its my no.1 best cinema experience.
I consider myself a starwars super fans. Love starwars, I was born 1980. Played countless games, watched the OG trilogy to death. I've watched last jedi once and watched this film zero times. I refused. Last jedi killed it for me.
Am I really the only person that can see that the movies are supposed to be dumb fun. the amount of expectation for “realistic combat n stakes” is just silly. the lotr n the hobbit are not supposed to be the same 😂
I had only ever seen the theatrical cuts for years and years until I eventually watched the extended editions and when I finally did it was the closest I could get to watching the films for the first time again. Better than the theatrical.
Notorious disturber of the peace . You made it sound like its a yearly tradition that has been going on for a sum of years ... I love it thanks for this one to m8
In defence of the black knight giant troll thingy, it could've been an experimental weapon. Weapons like this exist and have existed irl, for example, the german krummlauf rifle modification at the end of WW2 that would've allowed soldiers to safely shoot around corners. The whole project failed miserably, BUT the thing was thought into existence regardless. That troll abomination could've very well been a fever dream of a random orc commander in the depths of mordor, and then they brought it to Erebor cuz why not. Also, the reason it's blind, is because it makes it better steerable because it doesn't get distracted. It's the same reason horses sometimes have blinders, so they don't get scared or distracted by random shit, making them easier to control.
Probably late, but Denethor didn't "guess its purpose". He had a palantir and Sauron therefore used Denethor's pride and fear against him: the idea that Gondor was impregnable but Sauron was undefeatable, hence no defence on the plain outside; Boromir would prevail against all odds. (not canon strictly speaking, just my take on it).
tldw: the movie that was loved on release is an amazing well edited film. The extended edition adds story for the supporting characters in a way that enhances the film, and is overall an improvement. This was a great breakdown of the extended content and how it plays into the films story even if the conclusion was unsurprising.
220M friends lost. Now that's an indicator. If I knew that there's 0.01% of possibility that Galadriel would try to befriend me I would run away as far as I could go and never looked back!
