cable linked is a 3.5mm audio male. Is there one with USB C? There is a 3.5 to usb-c adapter i see, but I didnt know if the igate app could use this? or if it even has the driver to do this. A lot of phones don't have the 3.5mm headphone jack anymore. Thanks.

This is old news.. sections 20 & 40 have become the new CB badlands with pirates, outrageous behavior, unacceptable language, and noise toys. It has been going on for a few years now and doesn't show signs any signs of enforcement or improvement.
Definitely not new but I don't think some people realize how bad it has gotten with no enforcement. The only thing that will get the FCC involved again is the taxpayers demanding it....
Honestly this is way more entertaining than hearing conversations over what radio equipment everyone is using. Makes me want to buy a radio and join in the fun!
He’s baiting. I know it’s hard but the only way to deal with that is ignore it. If you give them 1 word it gives them the motivation to keep going. His game stops being fun if no one acknowledges him. Like an interrupting child. It’s a grown man desperately seeking attention. He’s not interesting or intelligent enough to garner that attention without being inflammatory. Pretty pitiful actually.
If the band is dead I really have no issue with experimenting with SSB. As long as folks are reasonable and considerate, it likely isn't a big problem. But these folks are acring like children.

Ouch. Is Yaesu doing them? I had the finals go on an Alinco DX-SR8 that I have, and sent it out to get fixed. After "repairs", my VFO knob doesn't work anymore. It's always something! I burnt the finals by transmitting FT-8 on a Xiegu G90 on one antenna, while my Alinco was hooked to another, and I burned up the Alinco finals. Any idea what you did to the 991 just out of curiosity? I hear about finals getting replaced in them quite often it seems...
@@TheTypicalHam per tracking the finals are supposed to be here tomorrow. I will do this myself as Yaesu takes literally months to return your radio. I am hoping to video the process and post it but we will see if I have enough patience to do that.
Update: Finals came today so I will be repairing it over the weekend. I am also looking to do the MARS mod as well but I will be using a zero ohm resistor at 1/10 watt as required unlike the videos I have see where a blob of solder is used.
I've always hated the "amateur" part of amateur radio, as it implies we don't know what were doing to the public. Then things like this just enforce it.
I think the issue you are facing there in the US is that getting a ham licence is just way too easy and it is attracting a lot of undesireable operators. I am referring to the children in the background making silly impressions and breaking every rule in the book. The operator having the beef and swearing like that should lose his licence. It doesn't matter if the beef is legitimate or not. Acting like that on air, and getting to the point of threatening physical violence is not something that should ever be heard on air at all!
That is a very valid point. I'm not sure if that is the solution or not but I do know that doing nothing, like we've been doing, isn't fixing anything.
@@TheTypicalHamI think pulling their licenses is exactly the way to go! As well as making the tests harder. That way, you have more to lose by this kind of behavior! This is absolutely disgusting!
At least in my experience as a younger ham, seems like even some of the more experienced and knowledgeable hams are scumbags, making tests harder will only make it harder for new people who are genuinely interested in radio to enter the hobby and will make no difference to the existing scumbags
I'm my experience is mostly the old timers that are rude and act poorly on the air. Many new generation hams do mostly digital modes and pota, with short quick exchanges of information. Rag chewing about politics, religion, cussing, and arguing is all the old timers. Especially on the lower bands.
I am guessing you are using a video capture card. I use the Yaesu LAN 10 to remote control my DX 10. I like it but it is limited to a few configurations and I would love for them to give the ability to move items around on the screen. I am just getting back into Ham over YT so I will b e bumping up my channel with a lot of content and links to my website.
That is correct. Does the LAN 10 allow you to have a screen like I have here showing waterfall and stuff? I've actually been interested in getting a LAN 10...
From 47 CFR Part 97.307 (a): "No amateur station transmission shall occupy more bandwidth than necessary for the information rate and emission type being transmitted, in accordance with good amateur practice." They don't necessarily specify a bandwidth limitation for phone transmissions, which I found interesting. It could easily be argued that they are using more bandwidth than necessary per good amateur radio practice. They are also likely running afoul of 47 CFR Part 97.101 (d): "No amateur operator shall willfully or maliciously interfere with or cause interference to any radio communication or signal." If they knew that others were operating below them and continued anyway, then that sounds like they are willfully interfering, if not maliciously interfering.
I never heard stuff like this when I was first licensed in 1956 at age 13. Never heard language like this. If you have a beef why don't you call him of the telephone. An Amateur is a gentleman!
It seems like he was using a full SDR radio with some kind of custom firmware. I'm not exactly sure, but it was intentional and easily adjustable on his part. Kind of interesting. Possible it was the "Hermes Lite".
All involved are in the wrong, turn the knob folks, but knowing his width before you started talking and then complain he’s interfering is like someone on 7221 and you started talking on 7222 and think you own the freq and have someone run down and say hey we are talking up here is laughable
