B.P.M.S. I for one surely do appreciate all your doing to teach the youngsters about pioneer history and all your doing to bring people to the sport of B.P. shooting B.P. may seem insignificant to some but it was important the development to the founding of this country it helped to feed the early settlers played a part in the development of photographs in the form of flash powder was used in mining and helped carve the railroad tunnels black powder is still used by the miliatary for something although im not sure what and we still use a form of blackpowder for fireworks its good that you am😅ngst others are helping it to not become a forgotten art
Great video Mark and I loved the introductions of the shooters and knowing what firearm they were shooting. Also was neat to see one of the new Kibler Fowlers. Did you get to shoot it anymore than the one time? Ive watched Mark so much shooting his smoothbore that Im thinking about getting one of Kiblers Fowlers. Thanks again looking forward to the next one.
Always a ton of fun and I got to hear the Powder ,Patch, and ball song what 😂 At least the rain held off until the end of the day. These are always so much fun to watch. Thank you for sharing them with us all.
I am so very very happy to have you back in my life on Sunday. You made my day,, All my Sundays,, I missed you . Another wonderful video and you all had so much fun.. Its awesome seeing new shooters learning and having a great time.. You Always have a blast and I LOVE it and you and watching you.❤ please don't stop, love you and all you do and show everyone😊
Yep.....I kept on shooting during the virus nonsense. That's the beauty of black powder shooting, if you have the supplies, you can keep on shooting...!! Thanks for watching...
Not really...I do use a towel but failed to use it on the first part of this video. I had the barrel removed a few years later & no rust was on the gun. Thanks for watching.
Bouncing rods against round balls is extra work that's unnecessary. Simply push it till stops and shoot. That's the easiest way. Thanks for watching...
Really enjoy your videos here in Canandaigua, NY. Near Genundowa(Bare Hill) the birthplace of the Onödowá'ga (Seneca People). I have learned a lot from you. Thank you. Maybe I will see you in Franklin next year.
Thank you......I would LOVE to shoot with you in Franklin PA. Mrs maniac and I are planning on returning next year & hope it will be little dryer then! I am posting the first of 2 videos pertaining to the Pioneer Flats Shootout this Sunday. Have a blessed day.
I appreciate this video! I’m always at Boonesborough this weekend and miss this one. Thanks for giving us a snapshot and thanks for what you do friend!
Yes...there were 3 events going on the same weekend I wanted to attend. Aggravating. Anyway, I look forward to see your coverage of Boonesborough. Thanks for watching my friend...
After Lyman left the scene, Investarms makes the Gemmer rifle (just like the Great Plains) which does come in both percussion and flintlock. Both available in 2024. I enjoy your videos!
I used to use the bathtub. Then a few years ago I got a large black plastic concrete mixing tub from home depot for about $20. I put a couple gallons of water in it and use it now. I put the lock, screws, and other small parts in a plastic bowl of water to soak while I'm cleaning the barrel. I use whatever oil I happen to have laying around. Now my matchlock has a 48" barrel and doesn't fit in the tub. I do that one in a bucket.
Can you comment on what lead can be used. I have pounds of wheel weights. Is thst usable? One person said i have to treat it . Thank you so much for all the time and effort you do to assist the rest of us. Could you list any personal appearances you will be making?
Wheel weights didn't work too well for me. I couldn't get my lead pot hot enough to melt it correctly. Pretty much any lead you can scratch with your fingernails or bend easily will work. I use old plumbing piping and roof vents. They work best. Thanks for watching my friend...
I’m curious about something. If you know then it would a a great help. Is this pistol modeled on any specific historical flintlock? I’ve been researching for at least a year now with no luck. I know it’s supposed to be a “mountain trapper” or something of the sort. I tried to match it with the shape of the trigger guard and the double triggers.
I see no replication of the Tradition's Trapper pistol model to anything period correct. I've not even seen a dual trigger pistol from "back in the day". Thanks for watching my friend...
I have never known of a flintlock tack driver. Tack driving is more about bullet consistnecy than anything else. I have never been able to load a muzzleloader consistently to drive tacks at any reasonable range. I usurally feel good if mine will shoot minute of dder at 25 yards.
I've been wondering about this for a while now so I'm glad you have this video up. I have some much thicker patches and a surplus of 44 cal balls but I have a 50 cal rifle. I figured on making some hillbilly sabots and trying them out for fun just to see.
I own a Lyman trade rifle cap&ball 50.cal I use bees wax and lard 50/50 as pach lube and 20grains of Swiss black powder shooting at 200yards on a bench rest its hitting a little bit to the right of centre on a 2 foot target. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
A few issues. Those are REAL bullets and serve a specific purpose as to how they should be loaded. Rifling is cut into them on a load. Also lube them. Instant accuracy.
Yes...I had a few issues with them. Although I didn't lube them, ( didn't know any better ) I'll stick with shooting round balls. Easier to load & more accurate at short distances for me. Thanks for watching.

Muzzleloader season is coming...for that want maxis w/o paying a fortune,i have .32-.50-&-.54 molds....seems like there's flintlock, and then the inline shooters...i had one inline ....never more.
@@blackpowdermaniacshooter yes it is ...I only have repro muzzleloaders, but I have an 1886 Elsie hammerless,a roller, and a td .so I do use holy black.... especially when you load the 10ga. I'm not a true traditional but I got my first TC in 1977.... And I won't use substitute unless I have no choice.
Awesome video! I like that cabin, I'd live there, I'm sure it is a really nice place to visit. I read about Simon Kenton in Muzzleloader a while back and it was an interesting piece of history. I also read the journals of Lewis & Clark, it was a good read too! funny, the guy who played Simon at the fair, that's kind of how I pictured him. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing 👍
Another fine video i reckon im gonna go research simon kenton never heard of em before i started watching B.P.M.S. i guess is normal since im not local
You go to and participate in a lot of cool events, you got a lot of friends and connections . And this coming weekend the28th. You’ll be making a lot of people happy at the pioneer flats shoot. 2 mile run county park near Franklin Pa. Can’t wait! See you there ! Blessings 👍😃
I couldn't pass up this event Jerry...its less than a mile from my house! I'm involved with it every year. I can't wait till this weekend. I have lots of smaller targets already painted up ready to go! See you Friday afternoon...
Its always nice to see the youngsters interested and getting involved in stuff like that. You really did an amazing job editing and putting this video together so it tells a story as it goes. Thanks for taking the time to film and edit these videos so we can enjoy them every week Mark! You and your family have a very blessed week brother.
Mark its cool you bring these type videos along with your shooting videos. I think its good there are still people who are interested enough in American History that they will share their knowledge of it. More people need to subscribe to this channel they might learn something. Thanks for another video and until the next one stay safe and be well.
I do not at this festival. The Friday before this festival started, I had the opportunity ( with other volunteers ) to talk to 200+ fifth graders ( in shifts ) about the Kentucky frontier in the 1780's. That was very cool and can't wait to do it all over again next year. Thanks for watching...
