Can I ask where you found the 71 to 77 rear bumper? I am in need of a front and rear from these year vans. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your channel.
I just did this on a 1988 GMC Van (RV conversion). A couple of notes: Rather than messing with the headlight plunger to remove it, I disconnected the connector from the bottom of the headlight switch. Additionally, for my particular van, the speedo cable came off by pressing down on a clip and pulling the cable out. Other than those two things, this guide was extremely helpful, and helped me convince my step-dad to let me pull out his dash to install 4x6 speakers into the dash. He is very happy with the improvement in sound quality and volume compared to just 4" speakers in the doors.
Hello, I was analyzed your YT channel and I saw that in your channel have some problems, that's why your channel is not growing. Your videos is not reaching to targeted people, not getting engagement. Do you want to know these problems? If you can give me permission I can tell here, . Where Can I tell? here or email?
Not really. I haven't needed to work on them at all. I would suggest the classicoldsmobile.com forums or there are some 1954-1956 olds mobile facebook groups
Havent even watched yet but definitely about to. Just had to say THANKS bc I'll be tackling this soon. ✌️😤 WATCHED: Nice job. That was plenty of stuff to keep up with lol My adhd said thanks for the video, I'll need it.
I plan on installing a stereo with a backup cam on my G20 but a previous owner put a big convex mirror on the passanger side and it has been a lifesaver. I don't actually need the backup cam because of it.
Either the honda or Toyota minivan. The seats were already out and elsewhere in the yard, so I don't actually know what they came off. I have another similar but slightly different tray with a flat mounting surface you are welcome to. It would be easier to mount without a bracket than this one with its stepped mount.
UPDATE- I just replaced my handle on a 2010 Fit, you don't have to bend the linkage. Don't remove the wiper arm either, just pry up the black cover from the drivers side that will release 2 clips (if they break replace them) and you will be able to get the handle in and out without any problem. I put never-sieze all over that pin, spring and plastic hopefully it will extend the life keeping rusting to a minimum. That pin should have been made from stainless steel.
For anyone else doing this, I strongly recommend protecting the hinge from future damage and applying white lithium grease on it periodically to avoid further issues. It seems to happen because there is a 1 mm foam seal around the cover for the license plate lights that seems to give way over time (probably due to the washer fluid...it seems to be slightly corrosive) + years of dirt and gunk being swept up there. I picked up some 1mm thick x 5mm wide adhesive backed foam stripping and also put some weatherstripping on top on the hinge to prevent further issues. Easy enough to do it again but I'd rather not because I broke quite a few retaining clips (although all replacement parts for this can be had off Amazon for cheap!).
Fun stuff! The dash panel color scheme reminds me of my old Speak & Spell. Something that made feeding wires go much more smoothly for me was feeding a length of fairly stiff nylon tubing (from the local hardware store) to use as a flexible conduit. It was especially good for a run that passes through multiple spaces with sharp metal edges. I ran one up the B-pillar of the Ranger to the rear of the cab and was able to feed rear speaker wires through it with ease and zero snags.
Those speakers you got are aftermarket. The OE speakers are paper cone, and unbranded. The only thing branded in the Cube is the RF sub. The OE speakers are also 2 ohm speakers, so likely those speakers you got are 4 ohm and wont sound as loud/good on the OE head unit.
I recommend an N95 dust mask with these things. I find the air is full of this dust for some time when it’s paint in particular. It’s like angle grinding where if I forget a mask or respirator, I’m sneezing crap out of my nose for a couple of hours and who knows what’s left in my lungs? If used carefully, these things can put a frilly great finish on metal surfaces. If that means something, then they’re really worth it. If you don’t care, then maybe they’re not, other than they save time.
On my 1992 G20 conversation van, the external handle goes through periods when it will not work and then it will work again. Right now it hasn't been working for over a month and I am afraid it is permanent this time. I can't get to the door from the inside because of the back seat and all the stuff packed in back there. What could possibly cause this? Could this be cause by these electronic locks?
Yes. If the lock solenoid isn't working properly or is jammed it will not move the plate up to where the latch can push on it. You should be able to unlock the door manually with the key, but if the solenoid is jammed it can prevent the key from turning. Try having someone lock and unlock the door while you listen at the back door to see if you can hear the lock solenoid (it will make a thunk noise). If there is no noise, the solenoid probably isn't working and you are going to have to take the panel off the door to get in and either replace or detach it. If you can get access also try hosing down the whole latch inside, and where the jaws are on the side of the door with white lithium grease to help things move (don't use WD40, it washes the grease out of the mechanism).
The super rare gas range that would look amazing in that kitchen is a Chambers Model C in copper. They also made ranges that had a copper plated backsplash instead of the whole thing.
The Run Razor by Motor guard is a really neat razor blade holder for shaving off paint runs. Liz's Dad loaned me his when I was touching up her leased Honda for return. It worked really well and was really satisfying to use. They cost $8-9 or so, well worth it, IMO.
Have seen most of the videos of this van. I've seen a lot of videos of restoring cars, but rarely have I seen someone spend so much energy destroying a car as in this. It's all very strange and I don't understand !!
Thanks for the views and this comment, they will help with the youtube algorithm and get me more views. Hope you keep watching me wreck it even further.
