There is one port on the side and one on the top so at least another 200W. Not sure the maximum capacity of each port, or the max of the DC-DC converter. It already gets quite hot, so perhaps doubling the 230W to 460 would be the max - my guess.
Not all aluminium. The rear tubs are made of steel, assumed for weight distribution. AMDS can read the clutch wear index on SportShift equipped cars. Nice example and video.
The clovers on the rear pillars should be gold over white. The park brake handle is missing the black plastic end grip. It’s a shame the Spica has been removed for a carb conversion. Once properly set up the Spica is nearly bulletproof other than the thermostatic actuator every 30,000 miles or so. It’s a smooth and reliable injection system on arguably the smoothest Alfa Nord engine. The two liter never felt as nice IMHO. I always enjoyed turning on the key and the nice little buzz from the fuel pump until the fuel pressure light went out. Then the car would start right up and idle perfectly. It’s a plus the twin Bonaldi boosters are still present. The rest of the car looks pretty good. The one I owned had Klippan style seat belts. Mine was 69’US Ochre/black. These cars are under appreciated to my mind. Very involving and enjoyable to drive.
Love your videos, very informative. If I can offer just one suggestion, paint the concrete wall behind you in white. It would help set off the car in your video.
WOW I found this site trying to figure out the different location of the boot opening handle for the Bentley mark VI which i just bought, now i relialize that it is in fact a Bentley R type.. even happier! BTW my car is an automatic.. regards from Sydney Australia.
Great restoration job Lawrence. I noted that your battery connections appeared to be held on by friction. Could I suggest that you insert a screw through the top where the hole is, directly into the battery post, thereby getting a more permanent connection.
Hello, I'm from Brazil and I'm passionate about the Audi Rs6 Avant. I enjoyed watching your videos about this car of my dreams. I would like to suggest that you make another video of it with the original Audi wheels (which come with the car) This car is spectacular and my dream car. congratulations on the video! att Elismar Santos.
Lawrence - one of the most straight forward commentary on a car re-com Ive ever heard - total honesty & considering I came to this video because Ive just found a 1980 928 auto that hasn't run for 30 years - for some advice ........ I already knew the risks as have done a few before like you & also know HORROR stories beyond horror... Well done - thank you - I will still try to buy but already know its not worth getting involved & will just pass it on to another ..... Crossing Fingers.... shame you are not based in London _paul
Does anyone know if there’s a difference ( any upgrades) between the 2022 model and the 2023 model? I hear that there are issues with the 2020 Boldtbmodels ( being they were rushed out due to high demand re Covid).
Very nice restoration. Tough to top if you just want it to shine in a garage Mechanically it looked very sound but a I'd have a few concerns. Entire suspension was was rebuilt but it looks like rubber bushings which are probably significantly deteriorated after 20 years. Too bad it didn't get PU bushings. Bilstein shocks are not stock but great choice I noticed driver didn't test the electronic overdrive which was one of the special features of the 1800s and subject to occasional issues. The tach was all over the place. Unfortunately the Smith / Lucas instruments in 1800s was one of their weakest components and might be extremely difficult to repair or replace at this point.
Gorgeous car! Best wagon currently on the market, no doubt about it. The E63s is no longer for sale in the USA, and even if it was, it has worse build quality and even worse reliability than the Audi.
This is my absolute dream car, and you have done a fabulous job in its presentation! It is very tastefully optioned and I love the earlier RS6 Avants (pre-2023), because they were not as “garish” or “cartoonish” in their exterior design. Now, I just need to win the lottery so that I can replace my 2022 Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge with this beautiful car!!!
This RS6 is one of the best cars money can buy in the world! She is beautiful, fast and ravishing! It's my eternal dream car! , I would have her for the rest of my life! Congratulations on the video and the excellent work on the presentation!
I know it's been 13 years since you had done this video, but thank you still for doing it! When I was a kid, my father had bought an '84 300 SD in 1986. I eventually drove it my senior year of high school and through most of college before he traded it in for a new 1998 Toyota 4-Runner. I was hoping to get it after graduating from college and have missed it since. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about what to look for when shopping for the W126's and what it takes to maintain them and your video has significantly educated me! Someday, I'd like to find a nice one and actually daily drive it!
Also simply because the 996/997 Carrera engines didn't age well and suffered premature deaths at an unusually high rate, while the (Mezger-) Turbos lasted.
Did you get one? I am getting same 2014 GTS in absolutely pristine condition. I am in Massachusetts the Cayenne I am getting was in Florida 1 owner it's whole life and has a flawless maintenance history 71k miles. I will not be using it as a daily driver so won't put more than 5k a year on it and have accepted that I am gonna pay more in maintenance than any other vehicle I have owned but after driving it I feel it's well worth it. I should have it on the rode by end of this week am pumped. The dealer I am buying from deals with mostly German luxury cars they went through it and they are gonna do the service on it for a fraction of what Porsche dealerships charge.
I just got a '97 VDP with 96500 on the odometer for $2250 US. Unreal. A few minor issues but I've been driving it for 2 weeks now with no big problems. I think I need a heater core, which is pricey I bet, but other than that I plan on changing plugs and coils myself and then having a mechanic go over it and give me a punchlist of stuff to look at. Interior is great. (fixed the cupholder, clock still broken) Paint on the boot and roof is somewhat faded. No electronic issues that I've found. Great value.
