Welcome to TN Outdoors Fanatic! This channel is dedicated to enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. The primary focus of this channel is to document our experiences in the outdoors hunting, fishing, foraging, trapping, & more while simultaneously educating others about wildlife conservation, the outdoor self sufficient lifestyle, mentoring kids and new hunters, and sharing recipes for the game and foods we harvest.
@@tonynienas169 thanks for watching and pointing out the correction. I had been told previously by a friend that they didn’t, but this was my first experience hunting them and have a lot to learn. We had an average of 4.5 points and drew it. GoHunt.com showed that anything over 4 points was 100% draw odds. WYGFD has draw odds for the HMA for each week, as your HMA tag is only good for 7 days.
Love from NC. I have a family of 7.. Dad/momma and 5 kids, and all of our children are taught to eat what you kill and to respect nature because it is the ultimate provider
@@edensdennis3765 absolutely! That’s how I was raised, & the lifestyle and philosophy I am passing down to my kids. Thanks so much for watching and your comment!
@@ShaneSentz wow! At what distance? This was our first time hunting them, and we got three bucks on three consecutive mornings. All were 300 yards and closer. All of them took multiple shots to put down. I was surprised because everyone I talked to beforehand said they are small and delicate animals, but these things were like little tanks! They just absorbed rounds from the 25-06 and .257 wby mag! I couldn’t believe it! Thankfully, all were hit in the first shot, which kept them from running off, and follow-up shots were just to finish them off.
It was a good lesson and not being so quick to judgment. The landowner was not a bully but someone who was willing to offer up his land to your son. Seems like a good guy to me. Thanks for sharing your videos, and good luck with your hunts. Look forward to the next video.
@@davidgreer9567 so very true! I had heard about so many bad encounters with neighboring landowners and hunter harassment lately that my mind immediately went there…. As a landowner myself, I shouldn’t have immediately made that assumption, & I was so wrong in doing so. It was incredibly kind of him to voluntarily offer permission for Trey to hunt on him. Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a blessed day!
LOL I would sit less than 50 yards from you and just make all kinds of noise. Then wonder why you would get angry at me. 18,000 acres and there I am acting like all the other good spot are taken. 🤣
Dude! Have you seen that Short on RU-vid going around about the guy putting his tree stand up over an elk wallow even though there is already a guy sitting there? I was really surprise drew it, but apparently not many people apply for the HMA access tags in Wyoming. There is no additional charge, just have to look for them and apply.
Does this also help avoid freezer burn ? Can I bag them after going this or use simple palstic container. Can I wrap them in wax paper then freeze in plastic container
Yes & yes…. I either bag them or put them into a freezer container. If using a freezer bag, I zip the bag about 90% closed then insert a straw, suck out all the air, then zip it closed. Works great! Not as air tight as my vacuum sealer, but still works well.
@@TNOutdoorsFanatic ok just to clarify once I wash freeze. It’s ok to wrap them in wax paper then freeze in air tight plastic container, I wanted to make sure the wax paper is ok to use. Thanks
@@ExitTheMatrixVR the wax paper isn’t necessary if you put them in an air tight container. The key is to get them dry and spread out to freeze. Personally, we dont typically wash our berries before freezing. These are 100% wild and have never been exposed to any pesticide, herbicide, or fertilize. I have eaten berries here from the farm for over 40 years without washing, so no need to start now. If you wash yours, then you need to make sure they are completely dry before laying out to freeze or they will clump and be more susceptible to freezer burn. We just scoop ours off the tray and directly into a freezer container or bag, & we haven’t had any issues with freezer burn since we started freezing this way.
Great question! Yes, it does come with boosters for the seats, and they definitely help. I have found a couple of other videos on RU-vid though where some folks have made modifications to allow them to install like a bleacher seat for more comfort.
Thanks for watching, and you are very welcome! You live in a beautiful state, and we are already talking about making return there in the next year or two to check out other areas!
@@patriciamcmurray5926 a cover crop is something you plant in the off-season that improves soil quality for the next season. Cover crops are typically planted in the fall, but I also have done summer cover crops. For example, at the end of your summer garden, if you don’t plan to have a fall garden, then you will plant a fall & winter cover crop that will grow all the way until you till your ground next spring. Common fall & winter cover crops are clover, winter wheat, and winter peas, but there are others as well. A summer cover crop is what I do when I rotate garden areas and give a particular spot a break one year. So, I will plant buckwheat, sunnhemp, or cowpeas as a summer cover crop.
My grandma has been searching for a childhood food called "monkey peanuts" for decades that she has long lost. Do you know if these align? After extensive research I was led to Chinquapins. Nesquehoning PA by the way
Just saw your comment... For some reason RU-vid didn't send me a notification like I typically get when people leave a comment. "Monkey Peanuts" is a new one for me. I will ask some of my elderly neighbors though and see if they have ever heard of that before. Thanks for watching!
We have this one and another that is more grey. I also saw another one over near Norris Freeway the other day. I am really surprised how common they are apparently. All are hens though. A color phase longbeard would be quite awesome to see.
NWTF says that it is just a natural color phase of a wild turkey. I always thought it was a result of breeding with a domestic bird as well, but apparently DNA research has shown that it occurs in 100% wild birds too.
Absolutely! When I looked at the topo map of the trail I knew it had a steep ascent at the beginning, and I was hesitant if Amy would be up for it. She just kept pushing along and made it to the top. Totally otherworldly scenery up there!
Awesome kayak as I just got mine yesterday and tried it today. Tracks pretty well with the large skeg. Plus for me is in it's bag it fits on my motorcycle as long as I remove my top case.
Still waiting to get some fawns on camera, but I know the does have them. The does are staying in a small area all throughout the day, and they will let you walk right up to them before they slowly trot away. Pretty sure they have their little ones bedded down nearby.
Man that’s a pretty awesome place brother, loved that bridge and catching craw dads is always fun! Y’all sure did a ton of hiking out there but dang the views is well worth it! Great job on the video brother!
Thanks brother! The next two hiking videos were the most intense of the trip! 😁. By the time we were done on day 5, most everybody was tired of hiking.
Great question! You only have to do this if you intend to store them for months. If you think that they will be eaten in the next couple weeks, then you can just store in your refrigerator.
