Wow! I hadn't seen you in my feed in a while. Probably because I had been working on topics unreleated to music for most of this year. But I was suprised to learn that you were an actor and that you and yoru friend had a talk show. When I saw the title in the video clip I searched using the title and your name and several TELL IT LIKE IT IS videos popped up about What a legacy you are leaving on youtube, in both music and talk. I also reaized that I had never notiece the beautiful bass line in It's So Hard to Say Goodbnye to Yesterday, as I always focused on playing the piano part.

I just find out about him last night. I was looking for some psychedelic jazz stuff and he pop up from somewhere. And I hear him for the 1st time and I am totally blown away, Yes I am a big Carlos Santana fan and I know he keep taking about Gabor Szabo...But I guess, I wasn't ready to listen to him until last night! And I am just geeking out right now! Finding all I can about him. I would say his music will appeal to Psychedelic music lovers. And there is actually a psychedelic band pay tribute to him. Good job. In the original 1975 studio recording of this song a Wurlitzer 200 electric piano was used. But in nearly all of the films and videos of this song, Paul Carrack is seen using a Rhodes electric piano. That probably contributes to a lot of the confusion about which instrument he is using. In nearly all of the videos, the band is just "miming" to the studio recording, they're not really playing it live. Yes, a Rhodes will work just fine playing this song live. But the original was a Wurly 200.
I disagree with you that EWF did after the love is gone to gain crossover success. They already had crossover success by 1979! Shining star, september, sing a song, that's the way of the world,got to get you into my life etc were already huge successes for them on the pop charts!. David foster was a young, hungry up and coming R'n'B keyboardist/songwriter who maurice white took under his wing and allowed him to work on some songs for one of EWF's albums. It's all in maurice white's autobiography which is an essential read.

I remember i had the occasion to work with procussion back in 90's and used to make my own sounds, f.e. snares using different layers in which snare consists. Upper and bottom skin, wood, snare wires. making it by layering was one of many ways to build other sounds too.
