Some of the older videos on my channel advertise the website www.videotrains.com, which is no longer under my control. Somehow it did not get auto-renewed and the the name is now held by scalpers (*cough* godaddy *cough) who want $1,799 because it's a "premium" domain name.
Are there any major restrictions on flying a drone at the HS? I'm thinking of going out there, and may buy or rent a drone. Also thinking about Tehachapi loop in SoCal.
To the best of my knowledge, no. I've seen several railfan videos recorded there from the air and I've never heard of anyone having troubles. It's not a national park or a state park. It's operated by the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona. I don't know anything about Tehachapi but I don't think it's part of any park service that would automatically make it a no-fly zone.
Beautiful! This is how the HS should be videographed. I love the webcam because it's so convenient, and is real-time, but the HS was intended to be 'filmed' from the air.
My grandfather worked in that little building... looks like it's boarded up now on google street view but I remember visiting him there when I was a kid and it's always held a place in my heart. He was on the top floor, had all these controls in front of him and you'd look out the window and see the whole yard. The voice around 5:50 that says "he can't go anywhere else" ALMOST sounds like him. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard that and then double checked the date but by 2001 I am pretty sure he was long retired from the railroad. It must have been 1980-82 that I remember visiting. Not sure when he quit. Worked for them for a long time. Thanks for sharing the video.
My son loves trains 🚆🛤🚞🚝🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃🚂🚋🚊 especially railcars like that one he thinks they are highly underrated and should be preserved, restored, and put back into service carrying both passengers and mail on lines that are not used anymore or at least don't get passenger service. He also thinks that Siemens, Progress Rail, or any other company that builds railroad equipment should build clones of RDC's and the departments of transportation should restore and rebuild railroad tracks that were abandoned and removed and run these on them.
Sort of. I have a few left in stock. RU-vid really cut into my sales and other responsibilities have limited my time to shoot enough to fill an hour program.
@@videotrains I’d be interested if you wanted to sell/trade for one of the ones I’ve did with Green Frog. I know what you mean, I don’t get out and shoot much anymore since I went to work for NS.
What was the tower for just southwest of the Lake Shore Museum? Was that for New York Central crossovers to Nickel Plate? I never saw that before, I know it's gone now.
There's something warming my heart when I see a steam locomotives plowing through snowy storm, there's a nostalgic feeling, a feeling that brought me back to the past, even I've never experienced it
She's been in the Cass shops for years now getting repairs. I've ridden behind her up the mountain to Bald Knob right before her repairs. Don't remember what year it was. She should be back up and running hopefully by early next year. They will not be running 6 up to Bald Knob anymore due to the weight of the loco messing the tracks up. She will most likely be used on the Greenbrier line. Ik I'm a nerd lol.
