If you want control over them as well as working with your dome light, why not just get some that are controlled from your phone w Bluetooth..? Best of both worlds then.
The reason they didn't turn off with the dome light is because it's on a different circuit. These type of dome lights have constant power going to the dome fixture. The switch to turn them on manually is grounded near the dome light. You can turn on manually or turn off manually because it's using the same ground. But when you turn the switch to door, it no longer has ground and it completes the circuit differently. The terminal that now grounds the dome light when the door opens comes from the door trigger which is actually a ground. Door opens and the circuit gets grounded. Door closes, ground is open so light goes out. Most Japanese cars are like this. If you had a different car like a Ford let's say, you can turn the dome on with either the headlight switch or the dimmer switch on the dash. Ford runs all their interior lamps through a module so it's all connected on the same circuit. It's positive power only going to the light after the door or dashboard switch triggers the module. Unlike this where the light always has power and gets grounded and turns on when door is open.

Where the fuck can I get red interior dome lights that are actually functional and not dim. I tried a bunch of different kinds and they are all dimmer than advertised.
Nice job. Just get you a new dome light cover off ebay etc. You can find new and used for not a whole lot of money. Next you should update all the interior stock lighting with leds. They have acura rsx kits that come with everything all the way to the hatch light. Even license plate bulb if you want. Not expensive for the kits.
im not by any means knowledgeable in this sort of stuff, but surely if you wanted the LED strips to work exactly as the dome light then all you need to do is to splice the led's into the circuit near the dome light instead of the main fuse... ?
I think im going to do this on my civic except i want one for the door dim dome light and another to be on constant when im drving. But I don't want the one when driving to be too bright so I might use less LEDs or cover them in some way.
I did mine without taking the bumper off. If you have a stubby screwdriver you can do it just fine. Takes less time and lining up the bumper perfectly isn't always easy. Best to leave alone if you can get away with it.

Help, I wired mine to the Cigarette Lighter fuse which is rated at 15A. Will this cause the fuse to blow up when I'm using the cigarette lighter to charge my phone?? I haven't tried to use the cigarette port yet.
May i kindly please ask you for the diagram? I do have the same LED strip and placed it also where you put em, but my problem is the the switch on/off only from the door switch, but aside from the door switch i also want it to be able to control in the dome light switch at the same time. Did you figure it out? I had the problem where I had constant 12 v even when the switch was pushed in. I even tried to tap my fuse box to the interior lights but they would just stay on but my interior lights would still shit off but no mater what I did led strips would stay on. I had the opt 7 pro kit.
paracordworx cut the negative wire clean open. Now wire the positive side of the lights to the switch side of the cut wire, and the negative of the lights to the remainig side of the cut wire.

I've shared a hotel room with a friend and made the reservation under HER name because we planned to pay with HER card. (I made the reservation for her because she hates talking on the phone)
Pfft I never have time to eat breakfast like a king. I would have to get up at 5 am every day to cook and eat an epic breakfast, and that's not even accounting for the days I have a 7 am shift.
