love REM. but the reality is that the trump years did not yield world war 3, and the dreaded death squads that had gay people, women and black thinking they were going to get dragged out of their house and killed. the derangement syndrome affects many, and for really no real reason. there are even democrat politicians (moderates) that are anti-gay and stuff like that.
As an event technician, I have a few questions: why the f was there no spare microphone??? And who was not doing their job, letting him do this and not running to get him a mic? The thing is, he wasn't just risking his own health with that. If there's a person underneath, they're also screwed if he falls. The stage decks he would land on would also probably break from the impact. If he lands on a piece of tech, that is going to not only be expensive, but it could also have a really negative impact on this show and the ones after (assuming it's a festival). That is why, if you ever decided to climb a structure, or even hang underneath one, at an event, you can expect to be shouted at and taken off there immediately. ETA: I wrote this assuming it wasn't planned, but apparently, it's a planned stunt. In that case, I hope the risk assessment was proper and the proper risk management measures were implemented. If they weren't, the person signing off the concept is liable, but I still feel sorry for the people underneath because it seems to me sufficient measures weren't implemented.
Meanwhile there's a roadie getting an heart attack somewhere with a replacement mic in his hand , knowing he could get the mic down later on by just disconnecting the jack and pull.
Eddie is a treasure honestly. He co-founded the EB Research Partnership for research into epidermolysis bullosa which is an incurable disease that makes people’s skin fall away from their body. It’s a horrific disease.
