Hi can you keep making more workout videos! I love your channel. I've been doing the total gym workouts and they are awesome. You can really feel the burn. Great work. Get this man more subscribers!
Much appreciated, brother! Glad the follow along workout videos are working for you. I plan to create some more follow alongs in the near future. Thanks for the support!
I made a similar video with this awhile back but aside from that one time, i really never tried it again. Was just too much stuff to make it worth the effort.
I agree, it can be cumbersome to set it up: donning the harness and attaching to the TG specifically. It is a nice option if the user already has these 2 pieces of equipment and are targeting the legs for HIT.
The cables are rated for 450 lbs, and it's recommended to inspect them before each use, checking for any cracks or signs of wear. I've been using the same cables on my GR8FLEX for over three years with heavy resistance, and they've held up well. Hope this helps!
wow... it has been a while since you posted a youtube. good to see you back. However, $177? for that harness? That is super stiff price. I use TG for squat almost everyday. Actually you do not need that kind of heavy duty harness. you can just grab on the weight bar or even on the weights (hole). Or if that is bit uncomfortable, you can just use extra TG handle to go over the weight bar to give yourself bit more play room. I am certain that harness works better, but at $177???? I truly think that is totally unnecessary (of course, unless you get it free or have enough money to waste.) Nonetheless, good to see you again.
I always appreciate your feedback, Alex. The harness is rated for 700 lbs, so it’s made from higher-quality material. Since the Total Gym Fit is rated for 450 lbs, I find this harness particularly useful for heavy lifting and HIT training, especially with resistance in the 300-450 lb range.
Total Gym is one of many ways to implement the harness. Once you see what it can do with a functional trainer or trap bar, the price begins to make more sense. Many people traded barbell exercises entirely for their squat harness
This accessory is more of a convent option - I see it useful when loading up the TG with heavy resistance bands and plates. You can also use it it for heavy pull-ups as well - any exercise that requires anchoring yourself to the Glideboard.
Nice! I do this same thing here! Even your slow cadence I do the same thing! It's crazy how much you can grow your legs with this exact setup then just progressively overload reps/bands
Damn, the only thing keeping me from pulling the plug is not being able to do pullups without the smith bar getting in the way. That seems like a poor design, even for a budget machine.
I typically place the bar as low as possible and seems to be sufficient - I am a couple inches from hitting the bar with my knees on the decline. If the bar is any higher, pull-ups will not work for me.
Hello. I just got this on Amazon Canada. Took 2 days to install.. I'd say 8 hours for me as I was alone. I went really slow on the cable installation part, i definitely did everything right and checked back to your video and my cables look to be installed correctly. I tightened all the bolts well towards the end. The cables are so stiff on the concentric and have absolutely no tension on the negative. Not smooth at all. I applied grease to every single pulley and every cable as much as I could, still not smooth. I increased the weight to see if that would apply more tension on the negative, helped very slightly but the movement is not smooth at all. Please comment. Thanks. I have contacted customer support. @syedeefitness
Mine is all shitty too. I just completed it .. the pull down and row cable works pretty well but those side ones are so bad... I don't understand how come mine is moving around so much when I use the side cables where his doesn't seem to move at all... Unless he's weighing down the machine outside the shot Anyways... Uhh . What are we gonna do?
There are a couple of options if the rack is moving around when in use. 1) add weight plates on the weight storage pins located on the center of the rack 2) anchor the rack to the ground (located behind the pulley weight pegs. Hope this helps
@@MyHomeGym_ yes you are correct, i fixed this issue on certain pulleys that were noisy and had to adjust the width of the brackets (literally yank at the metal part until they are far apart enough so they don't make contact with the nylon pulley). The manual says you'll need grease but does not specify where to apply it or how often...i understand it is a bit of common sense.
Thanks I got one of these used for my brother and am thinking about getting it from him Is the pulley ratio 2:1? I'm assuming so and you can get 1:1 if you use a joiner bar?
@@MyHomeGym_ thanks have you hooked up the two side pulleys to see if they work as 2:1 when joined? That's how Bells of steel works I imagine this is the same. Thinking about that too hook up to a belt squat, run a cable down from the joiner
Have you tried doing upper chest presses with that same bench on this machine? It seems like the bench wouldn't be able to get back far enough to comfortably do upper chest presses.
You would only be able to perform the incline chest press exercise facing the back of the rack. In other words you would turn the bench around 180degrees and be facing the pulley system. The same goes for shoulder press. Hope this helps
I’m curious how this will turn out, I haven’t worked much with customer support. Just mostly the market analyst. Pls let me know how it turns out. Thanks
I'm extremely interested in this as I am a beginner to half racks/smiths like this. BUT I need to know, does this machine ONLY take 2" Olympic plates or can I use the baby 1" CAP type plates? I can't find a clear answer in my research, and this will determine whether I purchase this or not
Great question. At 10:16 you’ll see that the barbell is merely a 1” bar with a 2” Olympic adapter cover (for 2” center plates). If the adapter is removed you’ll be able to load up 1” center plates. Hope this helps!
@MyHomeGym_ Thank you so much! This helps a lot. I already have plenty of 1" plates, and I don't foresee myself lifting anything very heavy. Very informative video. Liked and subbed
@MyHomeGym_ The reason I asked is because, on another comment, if I'm not mistaken, you said your barbell bar was solid. I wasn't sure if you changed as a hack or to make it stronger.
I’m glad to see you picked up the 12 inch band. A second band will give you a nice amount of resistance when the sliding bench is at a lower incline level.
Just received my Total Gym Ultimate Blue Fit today. Got it set up and gave this workout a go. Loved it! The previews really helped me get ready. I had to pause a couple of times to adjust the tower but then I got in the rhythm. These total gyms are no joke. I workout pretty consistently with a variety of equipment and this thing feels different and very familiar at the same time. I watched a lot of your content prior to today and that really helped me. Thanks for putting these videos. I know they take a lot of effort. You are appreciated and making a difference. 💪👌👍
They are sitting on the floor - so most of the weight is distributed on the legs and on the arms that are anchored to the wall. Hope this helps, brother
The TG Fit is my go-to and I enjoy the weight bar attachment option for HIT workouts. The GR8FLEX is the best value option considering the attachments that come standard with it. Both are great quality machines. Hope this helps!
Nice, I just figured it how to strap my Bungie to my total gym xl7, cause I been intrigued by like the gr8flex and kinda kicking myself for not getting the fit to hold weight, but now what I find is you can't really sit down on it and effortlessly slide the bench up to reach back and grab the cables cause the resistance bands make it difficult and entire machine will slide, any thoughts on that, getting in position for chest press with resistance bands, thanks
I see what you’re saying - I’ve tried setting a weight plate or barbell between the base of the TG to prevent it from sliding when setting myself up on the Glideboard with resistance bands. Pushing off the squat stand to slide the Glideboard up and grab the handles has also helped in preventing the TG from sliding. Ultimately, the tension may be too high on your resistance bands - this is where weight plates have an advantage. Hope this helps!
@@MyHomeGym_ya, it will take me time to figure out, I can see how the weight plates will prevent sliding, I actually enjoy the total gym and it works, thanks
I really like the content on your channel. Are you working out in your garage and what kind of flooring do you have? Looks like the Total Gym does not slide. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, brother! Yes - this is my garage and I use horse stall mats (4’x6’) from Tractor Supply. Here is a link. Thanks for the feedback www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/4-ft-x-6-ft-x-3-4-in-thick-rubber-stall-mat
I’m gonna wait till I get my total gym ultimate blue fit before buying swivels. Might not have chrome handles. But looks like a great idea. Ordered mine from the Total Gym outlet on eBay for 500 including shipping. Can’t wait!
Thank you. I have noticed the hybrid resistance guy also lengthened the cable as well using chains. This is a good tip to know. Didn’t know why. Ordering mine so looking forward to learning by using. Appreciate you.
The cables come a bit too short especially when doing chest press exercises while sitting lower on the glideboard. Adding length with chains or carabiner clips/swivels seems to address this issue.
The Olympic adapter sleeves are definitely a cost savings opportunity if you already have 2” center plates. Glad that these will work for you. I appreciate the feedback!
These are my go-to handles. I also use the standard handles for hammer grip or rope grip exercises. The 90angles grips are on my list to try. How do you like them?

I see you have used the bands. Try getting the 13 inch bands either by Rogue or Clench Fitness and loop them on the other end of the weight bar attachment. The heaviest band, if purchased in pairs shouldn’t over 50lbs. Especially using the bands when the sliding bench is on a lower incline.
Hey Jose - I have a few light resistance bands ordered in 12” and 20”. Will be trying this out and including in my upcoming Total Gym Resistance Bands Review video. Thanks for the feedback, brother!
Great review! I've had the Total Gym Fit for probably 5 years now. Matter of fact I have two of them. I leave weights on one and no weights on the other. God bless you brother. I enjoy your videos! Dale
