Can you show us your O2 bottle connection? I can’t seem to find the right fittings to connect my regulator to the small air lines that came with the machine. Thx!
Did you power on the laser button as well before you hooked up the usb cable? I just got mine in yesterday and tried to get it hooked up and it does not see the laser. My usb files for ezcad was infected by a trojan horse.
@@BeardedBuildsCo Omtech reponded back to me they may have made a mistake on the unit shpped to me. USB does not work. Trojan horse warning is not normal for applications.
My air assist seems to have died. Haven't really used the laser like a work horse, just kind of. I want to do this, but this is a lot of work and I'm already weary of being in the guts of this thing, the laser scares me period. Can I just hook some air compressor up to the hole in the back for now and deal with everything else later? I am not really engraving much and if I am I can just output engrave layer separate to cut and manually turn my air assist on or off?
Hi! I have an Omtech 150w and I'm having a lot of trouble cutting 18mm pinewood. I've tried with several passes and it doesn't cut. What do you advise? Thanks!
Question: did you use the centrifugal blower you received with the Pro? Or did you use a different blower/fan for your final installation? I received last week my Pro 2440 100w, it has the same blower (it's a beast). Looking for an inline fan as an alternate solution.
At first yes I was using the included fan but the noise got to me quick. I traded out for this: amzn.to/3zo5Ohv You will need a 6” to 8” adapter to use this.
I know it is all about testing but can you help me to get started as I have 60w co2, and I see that you are using a 100w. in your more descriptions 500mm/s @ 20% power. Thank you
@beardedbuildsco thanks for the instructional video. I have the same co2 laser as you. Curious to know if you’ve ever encountered this issue before. Sometimes, my laser freezes mid cut. Machine is still on and laser freezes at a random spot and stops cutting. Has this happen to you before? It’s happening more often after installing your setup, but it could be other factors.
This is an excellent technique & presentation. The line should probably be a curve. The laser appears to remain on as it retracts from the end of the test line, which would interfere with the actual focus test impression it's making in the surface. If it was curved it would retract straight back away from the impressed curved area and not fire into the already impressed surface..
Hi,i have a different "problem". Sometimes when i hit the start button it says "cut may be out of bounds". I have no clue what that means. I've looked on forums and on YT,but can't find anything on this matter. Maybe you can help me. Will be much appreciated. ( i'm using lightburn too).
It means that your job is going to cause the laser head to hit the sides of the machine. You are either not using the start positions correctly because it is placing the design too close to the edge of the workspace or you have stray objects on your workspace that need to be deleted. Use this video and test out the different start positions.
I tried this technique yesterday on acrylic as trying to create a groove for an O-Ring to sit in using the out of focused line. It works well to give a nice smooth groove, however the cross section of the groove is V shaped which is odd as an out of focused laser shape is the opposite of that. Is there a way to achieve more of a U shaped groove (flat bottom with steep walls) with this technique?
Have you ever had Lightburn freeze while moving the sheet around? I get almost all the way done and then it freezes. I also have to take my honeycomb tray out in order for it to work.
Very informative. Thank you for taking the time to providing just the right level of details. I'm getting into this space and my 100W MOPA is on its way. Looking forward to applying some of your suggestions.
Thanks for this clear explanation, my longer nano 6w has a extender bed that is only 100x300 I’m going to hopefully cut some 3mm ply to the plans of a boat, the images though are outside that size so I’m guessing at moment that for each sheet I’ll have to make a print with targets then repeat moving each part of the image into the work area, cut and then join up again after, is that how you would do it or do you have a different way to use lightburn to cut patterns that don’t fit the work area? TIA
Great video.... I was SURE this was my solution and when I got up someone in the Lightburn forum simply said "tighten your X belt" I went and double checked and yup! There was play...which gave the head SLOP in each start right and left... Your offset fix might have compensated for that and adjusting for different speeds might have compensated for increases torque at higher speeds. Your solution might be the fix for some, even most with this issue but i wanted to share my experience in that it might save someone else HOURS of troubleshooting and settings adjusting.
ok i see all this but theres a steo im not getting my head round. How doyounknow where to actually place the rotary machine? im using an omtech 60w and i dont know where to place it at all once plugged in
For that you need to understand your start positions. If you use current position then it shouldn’t matter. You put the rotary in and then move the head to where you want it to start. Use your frame option in lightburn and it will help you visualize it.
I just received the new longer nano 6W yesterday, I've been playing with settings, unlike normal set up where the laser is on tracks for its axis travel this thing uses something else as the laser is in static position, I have only done some trials today but have found its useless for cutting, I know a 6w isn't going to do James bond stuff I only want it to cut 3mm stuff but the laser cuts at angular meaning the farther toward the edge the cut is angled not straight through the material as your demo shows but it also even using laserGRBL 20 lines per mm leaves signs of lines when focused properly. coming across your post is great, obviously you're a pro using high end machines not this hobby thing I'm using but I'm going to run some tests defocussing the laser as you describe, thnaks for posting the tip.
Hi I’m having trouble where my gantry isn’t moving and my red dot pointer not working do you think this could be the same problem with mine mine also won’t pulse so tube not coming on it’s a k50 Chinese laser Thanks
