How can anyone sew on a machine without fingernails? I keep my left index fingernail really long. If I see over something it's going to be my nail not my finger. My grandmother taught me that. She sewed for Farber Brothers during WW2 and sewed thru her finger up to the cuticle. 😳 Just thinking about it makes me 😬

Thanks so much. Question: I have heard that water and steam are bad for silk fabric, and that you should try not to iron them. Is that true? I noticed you pressed it with steam. Perhaps the organza is a little more sturdy? My iron has a silk setting but I would never iron silk unless someone I trusted told me it was okay 😂
@kdknyc
@kdknyc 8 дней назад
Silk is a protein fiber so can take water and pressing. There are certain kinds of silk fabric that do better with a dry iron, such as silk satin, gazar, or tafetta. The key is to test the fabric with pressing before you begin your project. If you use the silk setting on your iron you will be fine.
