Born and raised in East Tennessee I grew up with a love of fishing. After I got married in 1995 I moved to my wife’s hometown of Elizabethton which has one of the most magnificent trout rivers in the Appalachian mountains. The Watauga river is popular with trout fishermen from Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. Living here I have found a love for trout fishing practically in my own back yard. Subscribe to the channel and watch me head to the river with family and friends on our journey to catch as many as we can.
you DO NOT GRAB the fish, I've seen countless videos of people catching fish and then manhandle the fish with their hands, for all of those fisherman and fisher women out there when you handle fish with your bare hands they get slimy, that slime is the fishes protective coating against parasites, fungal and infections, once removed it exposes the fish to the aforementioned, with potential death @ some point. A cure for this is either wet your hands prior to handling the fish, or handle it while in net with wet hands or still hooked in the water therefor reducing the removal of their slimy protective coating.......sorry for the rant, but somebody has to say it.
So far my "PB" Brown is 23". Although I have caught a few bigger when I was younger but I didn't start keeping track until about 10 years ago. Last year I had one break off at the bank that I think was close to 30". I still have nightmares about it!🤪
I try to do more trout fishing in the cooler months like now but we've had a lot of rain lately and the streams are muddy and the ones that have rocky bottoms are mostly clear but their a little ways away from home anyway i just want to say nice almost one week of catching and one more thing are there only browies in that river ? Thank you for commenting! The Watauga River is primarily a trout stream loaded with brown, rainbow, and brook trout. It also has small populations of large and small mouth bass as well as rock bass. Further downstream you can catch striped and hybrid bass as well. Oh and carp also.
BEAUTIFUL FISH MAN! My buddy Houston seal sent me your way. I’m pretty new to fishing could you maybe make a video about what baits you’re choosing and why? I love the content, keep it up!
Thanks for the comment. I agree I need to give more info on the baits I use. I love fishing with her. She just graduated from college and is about to move away to start her career, so these moments have become more important to us. Thanks for watching!!
Black is my favorite rooster tail as well. I prefer to use jerk baits when the water is high and fast. I tend to catch more big browns in those conditions. Thanks for Watching! @@MerrittFlims
One thing I can say about snap swivels is that I have best luck with side swing casting. The majority of the time when I get anywhere near overhead casting I get lure hang on the swivel
No in Tennessee there isn’t a size restriction on trout. I was telling her to leave it in the water cause I was afraid if she lifted it with the rod it would break the 6lb test leader
Shit girl eat it if its legal!! Why can't we teach the homeless to fish and hunt. I know not a permanent solution but at least they won't go hungry. I wven saw in NY a woman roasting rat in a fire barrel. Rhis is whatvwe should do for humanity. If this is what they need for basic needs, let em fish hunt and survive. ❤❤ This is what our ancestors did they ate and fished unknown.
I loved this video and I have subscribed to your channel. Just some down to earth people and fishing page. I like it. That's the way I am and on my Instagram fishing page. Keep up the good work and keep catching those rooster tails on your rainbow trout. Lol. Have a good one guys..
Good Question! I didn't have any issues with line twist. The only issue I was having was the lure would get tangled with the swivel quite often on the cast.
@@trouttime we do a lot of trout fishing in fast moving water and the line twist is bad using spinners. I thought about trying a barrel swivel about a foot above my spinner to see if it helps with line twist but a snap swivel would do the same thing i would think.
@@AllanWeder-vu3ji my concern was how the swivel would affect the lure's action, but the video proves otherwise! I do lake fishing mainly so twist doesn't seem to be so bad, but it does happen.
