I try to do more trout fishing in the cooler months like now but we've had a lot of rain lately and the streams are muddy and the ones that have rocky bottoms are mostly clear but their a little ways away from home anyway i just want to say nice almost one week of catching and one more thing are there only browies in that river ? Larry

Thank you for commenting! The Watauga River is primarily a trout stream loaded with brown, rainbow, and brook trout. It also has small populations of large and small mouth bass as well as rock bass. Further downstream you can catch striped and hybrid bass as well. Oh and carp also.
