Just trying to do some offroading in an old Land Rover. They aren't half as bad you thought they should be and the other half is far less likely to break than you thought.
@karman2020 I try not to air down people below 15 psi. I've aired them down to 10psi before telling them to take it easy, and the next thing I know, they are doing donuts and blow the tire off the bead.
@EnjoyFirefighting Most of the Texas coastline is barrier island. We have around 365 miles of beach to access with only a small portion of area that is suitable for parking lots and crossovers. We do have those setups in some areas. So that's why we access most of the beaches by driving. No ownership of the beach is a Spanish concept. All of our beaches are designated as Texas Public Highways, except where they have made exceptions.
@@Land_Raver thank's for the quick reply; I've never seen beaches where people drive on myself - although I've seen them online in various places. Here beaches are usually pull of people, especially along the Baltic Sea coastline. Along the North Sea coastline there are some beaches, but not with nice sand like at the Baltic Sea, or like in the video. Along the North Sea there's the wadden sea which makes it impossible to drive through with normal vehicles, even for emergency services
You're welcome. Yes, we have a unique situation along our coastline. It is very similar to a lot of Australia's coast where you have a beach and small dunes behind it.
@@Land_Raver that's the same situation with most of our coastline, apart from short sections with cliffs instead of dunes. Even outside the cities the sandy beaches are full with people as far as the eye can see for miles
This entrance is closed…..the last time I was there a couple weeks ago. You now have to drive down along side the SLP bridge. Unless that’s also changed.
@bradleystevens2956 Supposedly, the parks board closed down all the west end entrances. I imagine it's still hard packed. Maybe I'll head to matagorda this weekend.
@@Land_Raver Matagorda was wide and hard packed yesterday up to about 3 miles N, not enough cars to get stuck...thats tough on your RU-vid enterprise..
@elTripaSeca Maybe on a smooth beach for 100 yards. Throw in some small mounds and it's going to be a rough ride. 4x4 will allow you to drive with caution. The beach is littered with air dams, bumpers, engine covers, and other parts from cars that were driving too fast and bottomed out.
I was in the black Tahoe leaving when you were dealing with the white Ranger. I was barely able to squeeze by all those idiots getting back to the road and it wasn’t even 11 am yet. 5:29
I remember going there years ago. I am shocked at the number of people who don't air down in the soft stuff. I always aired down, heck I could run from Sabine Pass down to Port Bolivar without issue just airing down in a heavy Ford Expedition on 33x12.5s.
The majority of trucks sold in the US are 2wd. If they had a bucket, the ground would probably dry up before they got back with another bucket of water. The sand is 135 to 150 f in the summer. And even if they got a little further, they would just get stuck again. Australian guy did a good video on it a few years ago. You're better off digging yourself out.
There’s like 3 trucks in this world that can get out of a back tire sandpit like that. But yes, always get 4wd. Every time I see somebody doing stupid shit in a truck, it’s a v6 or has no 4WD 😂
I cut the brackets on the awning to shorten them and used 1" round clamps to the bars on the grenadier. It's pretty stable with the light underneath to hold the awning up. Really wish they had the roof rack to sell when I got it.
@@Land_Raver awesome. Sounds kind of like what I did to make a maxtrax holder for the ladder, used 1 inch clamps. As soon as I commit to no longer fitting in the garage, then the roof rack purchase will happen. In the meantime having an awning only sounds perfect.
@@Land_Raver it’s a crucial piece of kit out at the beach. I haven’t been down (from Pearland) in over a month. It’s been fun watching all the crazies crossing the hole down at SLP in your videos though. Lol
You're just north of me. The storm is going to mess everything up this week. I've got some more videos of people driving through the water hole. People were getting stuck in the sand this past weekend but the rain has definitely messed up my content collection.
It wouldn't have been stuck if it was a trailhawk. My wife had one for a while and she was all over matagorda beach. Even pulled a Chevy 1500 thru thick dry sand
@vinceruland9236 It's a matter of clearance. They were driving through tracks of others at the end of the day, and eventually, it gets deep enough, and you bottom out.
DUDE you gonna keep pulling people with a chain you really outta invest in one of those kinettic ropes that i see in the guy with wrecker whole lot easier on your drive train..askn for alittle donation probably people would give gladly... just sayn...
Appreciate it. If you have the right vehicle you will learn the limits of what you can do. Too much power and your reaction time goes down. Too little power and you won't be able to power through the tough spots.
