Madeline Osigian recently finished her four-year English degree in three years, just for kicks. She lives in Dallas, where she tackles her shelves of unread books. After eight years of lifestyle blogging and novel writing, she is now pursuing a career in editing fiction.

On this channel, I am posting all things minimalism because I read Marie Kondo's book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up before it was cool.

Before that, I created a year of BookTube content because I needed an outlet to "talk books" in 2016. I uploaded "My Three Favorite Books Revealed," and the rest is history!

Movie are way better than books and it’s not even close books are very boring and movies are very entertaining and tell the story better And I always hear people say the book has more detail but that’s not true when in movies you can literally see what’s happening 😂

I like both. I’m really into filmmaking and I love the cinema experience with the audio visual pictures and the science behind camera angles and directing and colour grading and editing etc. But as someone who’s getting really into reading fiction books this year for the first time, it’s an experience like no other. In order to enjoy the book you actually have to FOCUS on it, and that brings a whole new personal experience to the table. And how you spend days and even weeks in this story chapter by chapter, imagining the characters being acted out by images you’ve created in your head, you get emotionally invested in this story because you’ve spend many many days inside this world, to the point that when it ends you feel genuine grief for this world you were dedicated to. Which you’ll never get with a 2 hour movie where the images and audio has been handed to you on a silver platter

Books are very different from movies. Books are all about the story and the structure on how the story is told. Books focus more on detail and stretch out the story. What makes a movie great is a lot more than just how the story is told. There are a lot more aspects that the filmmakers have to worry about, such as cinematography and directing the actors to produce their vision. Then, you can just create any setting you want. You need to actually have set designers or hire artists to create a desirable setting. In books, most of the aspects are up to the reader to decide. If I were to answer the question, “Books or movies?,” I would say that I prefer to watch movies than read books. However, the reasons why I prefer movies than books isn’t because of what I’ve described above. It’s because of two main things: school and length. First, I’ll start with school… Throughout school, I assume that everybody has had many assignments in their English classes where they are required to read a book, and then answer questions and discuss with your peer groups about the book. I know I have. When I was younger, in school I had to complete a book log and read every night for 30 minutes. What’s the harm in that? The harm is that instead of portraying books as entertaining pieces of literature where you can immense yourself into a story where you have control, I portray them as my homework. Obviously, no one likes homework, so naturally I have negative feelings towards books. Thus, I don’t want to read them. I’m sure none were asked to watch a movie and answer philosophical questions in their mind while watching a movie, so you can spend time enjoying yourself. Despite this, when I watch movies, I try to consider the philosophical intentions from the directors. I try to identify and interpret the literary details of a film, just like you would on a homework assignment. With that said, why do I still not like books that much? The second, main aspect is that films are so much shorter and aren’t as much of a time commitment. Books often delve into the detail and stay in the detail. When this happens, the books become lengthy and there is a huge time commitment to just one book. I’m not saying that I don’t have time to read a book in my daily schedule, but why take a few weeks to read a book when you can watch a movie in a night? And for those wondering, I don’t watch many shows. Still, I guess you can’t really take my word for it. I’m not old enough to live in a time where people would say, “back in my day…” I’m school in school, I guess you can make the argument that I’m just some dumb sophomore (even though I’m 5th in my class). Also, since I’m in school books still feel like a chore. I’ve never experienced enough freedom to willingly read a book on my own terms. So I guess I have to wait for freedom to consume me before I have fair judgment? Alas, I sincerely hope that I love books someday in the future, but now I just don’t like books (even though I acknowledge they are good).

American Psycho: I cannot imagine that the book is better than the movie. Why? Christian Bale and the depth of his performance and the movie’s focus on the psyche of Patrick Bateman. Just look at the Hewey Lewis scene (which I’m sure is not in the book.) It’s something words alone cannot to do justice.

I read the book 📖 first and then watch the film. And if you read the book and then watch the film you get more details for me I read the book 📖 the outsiders and then watch the film 🎞 and I realize that the movie 🍿 have less details like it’s like a broader overview of the subject but don’t give you the details. Books give you details if you read it more than 2 or more times similar to a recording album 💿 like say your favorite 🤩 artist is tears for fears and the album 💿 the seeds of love ❤ if you listen to the first time great 😌. But if you listen to it 2 or more times like 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 you’ll knowtice these details that are in a book 📖 for me if I had to choose for stronger between book 📖 vs movie 🍿 I would choose stronger by Jeff beauman because I would read it over and over and over again and find those details and books strengths your brain 🧠 and also books 📖 also more details because people want more details about the book 📖. While movie 🍿 it’s quicker and broader too.

Hi! At first, you are so nice person. I love the sound of your voice. It was interesting when you were talking about categories. I am exactly between books and movies. Mostly I watch a movie first and than a book. But with Harrry Potter? I love the films! They are sooo good. Sandra
@annachabrova7640

I agree with you, the books same as the films can be very good but you cannot expect it is gonna be both the same. And if you see the movie first, there is, in my opinion, only a little chance that you will like the book better. Because there is always much more happening in the movie. But, yes...still I remember, the book is better :D

The Children of Ashton Place is an amazing series...great humor and the main character is so adorable. It is children's literature but I enjoyed them so much more than my girls when I read them aloud (I think they were a tad too young to really get the humor and storyline). Definitely recommend.
