Hi, what's your laptop model? Reconnect and turn on the computer. ► Turn off the computer. Reset the CMOS battery connection. Reconnect and turn on the computer. ► Turn off the computer. Remove the battery, CMOS, ram, and hard drive connections (for about an hour), then long press the power button for 30 seconds. Reconnect all parts, and turn on the computer. ► Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B ( keyboard shortcut) The fix Press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B is a keyboard shortcut used in Windows to reset the graphics driver. Novo Button? I don't where this button is on my laptop? Thank you for your instructional video. Almost 6 months ago my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E540 quit booting - well I couldn't see if was booting because I only get a black screen. I initially thought I had a bad drive, so I removed the SATA drive, inserted it into my BlacX Duet and it is operational. I was wondering if the problem was a display failure, but I wasn't sure how to proceed. I set the laptop aside because I had a lot on my HOME Projects. Last night I started to troubleshoot my laptop again; thus far I achieved a "GOOSE EGG"! I connected the laptop to my desktop first with a HDMI cable and then a VGA cable - both failed to display onto my Samsung monitor. However, I am not being as thorough because disassembling my laptop and reassembling it is PITA! I removed both memory sticks, swapped them into the different bays, but the same result - the laptop powers on with a black screen. I don't think the memory is bad, but if I have a spare matching memory stick I will swap it. I purchased this laptop at a pawn shop then I purchased memory to the maximum capacity: I just cannot remember if it originally had one memory stick or two memory sticks. I can hear the fan spinning. I looked at the CMOS battery and it is wrapped in electrical tape in the twisted wire cradle and connects to the MOBO: I may gingerly remove the electrical tape, replace the battery, re-tape and reinsert the male-pin plug in the MOBO.
