Plan for me as a music producer: Do it by myself through bandcamp, website, social Media, RU-vid content, Djing and other unique creative avenues and the end goal is to build a community. USB stick I keep hearing you talk about it which I need to get into.

Listen they are going back to what they were when they started this in the 60's and 70's. Be clear that the rumor has it that the new Korean label is buying Atlantic. So they are also trimming the fat to make that deal appealing. It is going back to the 60's business model. Indie labels handle all the business. The business structure changes because they didn't have any headaches nor losses. The indie labels does all the work and then when their artists began to make noise then the big labels would sign them and distribute them around the world. In those days their biggest headache they had was vinyl breaking/shrinkage. smile Shelving was a tax write off. However with the digital world and no physical product being a distributor ONLY don't have surprises when it pertains to their profit predictions. LEARN THE NEW GAME!!! Direct to consumer and creating "FELL GOOD" music will allow you to make money. The focus should be CATALOG!!! That will allow you to make money and get checks all your life and leave a legacy for your children. GET CREATING AND STAY FOCUSED. Need help holla at the Top Music Attorney or me. $mile Peace

Every genre of music has its time of fame! And then it does not! Its like this~> When 50's & 60's Peoples'' ROCK MUSIC'''~ Was in the realm of music! They brought us out of the Stone Age~ They called them real musicians & Artists~They were White People & Black Peoples~Today we have two different kinds of reality! That fractured off to be Just Artist & not to be Musicians! Music is what you feel & listen too! Art is just what you see & hear! The two kinds of people are in two directions~! One is tone deaf~ & can't comprehend the feelings of the groove~ Having Just the jive! Never to having the endless groove~The others have perfect pitch in their minds & ears~ They can create real Original Music! That can play a musical Instrument~ Only first! The ones that have more to offer are going to have to become their own engineers of real music creation~! Because only real music can stand the test of time! Anything else is all the same and never had a chance to connect to the Receptors of the Feelings Receptors~ With to connecting of the mind & heart! That is needed to be relevant! Yes the people that can create their own music~ need to have their own place to come & go from~! You just separate the genre's of Music & Artists~ To each do some different platforms! So you get what you want & don't have to get what you don't want! NOT EVERY SONG IS A GOOD SONG~ NOT EVERYONE IS A GREAT REAL MUSICIAN! So the ones that are, need to hear less of the ones that are not! PS... The tech people thieves will never be musicians! Of the third kind!

In the 90's Marillion (a neo prog rock band) ended their contract, did an album at a band members home studio, released it by mail order, they sold 1/10th of their previous albums, made more £ in pocket than they did on any of them!

I’m NOT afraid to speak out! Krystle don’t delete this like you or one of your staff deleted comments here against streaming. Just posted this on LinkedIn. Not to mention if you remember me because I commented and supported your channel and you on WhatsApp, they tried to scam me pretending they were you, but I didn’t fall for it, but I let you know all about it. I never even got even a courtesy sorry about that from you nothing but that’s OK. I have this on LinkedIn because it’s time! And you of all people Krystal know it’s time! And here you’re saying Krystal you’re getting ready to release stuff on Spotify come on seriously who could take you serious when you’re gonna release stuff on Spotify really after everything that you talk about and I stand behind you 100%- smh THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS KILLING ARTISTS THROUGH STREAMING SERVICES-AND THE BUYING PUBLIC IS CREATING VICTIMS-IT’S TIME FOR MUSICIANS TO FIGHT BACK! Streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, offer access to millions of songs for a low monthly fee, but this model is decimating musicians’ livelihoods. For just $9.99 a month, consumers can stream an endless library, yet artists receive mere fractions of a cent per play. This system not only devalues their work but also discourages fans from buying directly from the artists, denying them the financial support they need to survive. While CEOs of these streaming giants pocket billions, artists-the creators who fuel the industry-struggle to make a living. They’ll never know the comfort of owning a home or providing for their families because the system is stacked against them. Imagine working tirelessly on your craft, pouring your heart and soul into every note, only to receive crumbs in return. Consumers need to recognize that their choices can come at a devastating cost to the very artists they love. Take Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit, who is suing Universal Music for $200 million after decades of success, claiming he hasn’t received his rightful royalties. If an artist like Durst is fighting to get what he’s owed, what does that say about lesser-known musicians? Record labels continue to exploit musicians, inflating streams and stealing money. Recently, we’ve seen record companies lay off dozens of artists as their models crumble under their own greed. But the problem doesn’t rest solely with corporations; consumers play a significant role in perpetuating this broken system. By prioritizing convenience over ethical consumption, fans contribute to the very exploitation of artists they claim to support. It’s time for artists-regardless of fame-to unite and take back control of their catalogs. If fans truly care about the music they love, they must support artists directly by purchasing albums, singles, or merch from their websites or at live shows, where artists receive the full profit they deserve. It’s time for the buying public to hold themselves accountable and recognize their power. Artists must stand together against the streaming services threatening their existence. They need to reclaim their power, ensure their work is valued, and demand the compensation they deserve. Only then can we create a healthier music ecosystem that allows artists to thrive instead of merely survive.

The only distribution and marketing only deal I know of that worked well for all concerned was between Depeche Mode and Mute records. It is only when Mute ended its time as a indie label that both parties decided to make a proper contract. I also remember the great silver league massacre of the mid 90's. Artists that were making an OK living, going silver shortly after an LPs release, were suddenly dropped. You had bands appearing on Top of the Pops (when that meant something) with top 20, sometimes a top 10 hit that suddenly a now had no label! (PWEI) Instead of developing talent, labels became only interested in doing the numbers for the start. Artists were getting signed, and then shelved/dropped when they did not get a no#1 single with their debut release! (Appleton, it only made top 5!).

If you actually go to Vanny’s channel and listen to her cover of Celine’s song it is definitely sub par to the vocal in the clip Fil played. I would trust that Fil is correct in saying it is Celine’s voice because he has the software to easy confirm that.

This is just a reflection of what is happening in America in general. Ultimately, capitalism will eat itself and we are already in the post-capitalistic phase. The theory goes that when the rich get too greedy and corrupt ultimately it is the people who take back the power. In other words, instead of capitalists and the rest of us proles beholden to them, we get knowledge workers and service workers. And this is what we have here, the artists taking charge of their own destiny and the record labels trying to service them.

The best thing for real musicians is for the modern music business to completely fail.
@Juststartingout768
@Juststartingout768 2 часа назад
It already has. The greedy record execs have totally wrecked it. Go try and put on a Live Aid today. It would be impossible because the music is just not there. It is no accident that the biggest sellers album wise are song-writers like Adele and Ed Sheeran, people who can sit down with a guitar in the street and busk if they wanted to. And yet the record companies still won't sign actual artists. They want young good looking Disney princesses who can be manipulated who will just work with "producers" who have never actually played an instrument in their life but can sit at a computer and create, I was going to say music but everything sounds the same these days. Timbaland tells a great story of working with Duran Duran. Nick Rhodes, the keyboard player was puffing and panting dragging his keyboards up the stairs to a NY studio while he just said, hey, why bother, I have it all here on a thumb drive. So, instead of actual musicians and soul what we get is empty faces that can be marketed. So having dried up the real source of creativity, what do you do when you have no more quality to offer? You start offering it more cheaply and so record companies practically gave away the music to Spotify and YT et al. And when that wasn't enough, they started offering these 360 deals to take away the revenue from the live gig from artists as well. Accountants are the most boring people in the world. They have no soul only black and white digits on a page. And yet, this is who the record companies entrusted their future to in an artistic environment. What could possibly go wrong? Well, everything, actually.

@@Juststartingout768Venture Capitalist have infected almost every aspect of business. They are only interested in a return in their investment. Some are looking to shelter money and then write off their planned loss when the timing is right for their portfolio. This won’t end well for the current music business model.

One of the best ways these days for independent artists is music reaction channels on RU-vid. Look at Ren #1 album in the UK largely because of the reaction community. And The Warning are now signed but they had numbers and rabid fan base that gave them the negotiation leverage to get a good deal.

As a musician playing and doing their own thang, i dont want to/won't become a business. Its always cost me $, never made me $. Not interested in compromising my art to make $. Look what this has done anyway, i play my feelings and play "what I feel like." People are tired of the mentallity of record labels anyway... music for the love of music is me. Fair play to ya man. But never confuse being a business with being corporate. They're 2 different things. You can run your business how you like, create the art you want, market how you want, etc. It's always good to know how the game is played so you don't get screwed over by it and/or you can change the game/environment to be a product of yourself rather than you being a product of that environment.

Lol, i have no choice BUT to b a product of myself! Being a business was never something I wanted to do. A musician is all I've ever aspired to b... "when I lose my life, it will b all I've got to lose" to quote Lynyrd Skynyrd... man, stuff sure does seem to b crumbling here in U.S.A... lol, everybody says music isn't good anymore. They sure r right! Y I make my own! Can't really make $ doing anything! We r so inundated w people who r all "look at me" while the people like myself who actually spent the past 22/6 yrs honing a sound that is, I hope good, cant even get a break or noticed. I got 230 people subscribed to my channel, and hope I can get a DAW so I can make songs that reflect my feelings and station in life. We need good music. I like mine and so do 230 people... hope I can make it in this world, just wanna make quality sound/music...
